Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Hangover
Rose slowly opened her eyes as light enter the room but quickly shut them as it was too bright and groan as her head was pounding. She was curled on the chair, she slowly uncurled herself and sat up straight as her body ached from sleeping in that position for so long. She leaned back on the chair and rubbed her temples to try to ease the pain in her head. She heard a deep groan coming from the direction of the desk. She slowly opened her eyes but her eye sight was blurry form the light. Once her eye sight adjusted she saw Katsuo holding his head in his hands groaning in pain. She closed her eyes and just rested then she heard him speak, "What happened?"
She responded, "I was hoping you would know. I can't-" She stopped as her head started pounding and a flood of memories came forward from last night. "Oh no." Rose said in despair and apparently Katsuo also remember at the same time and said, "Shit!" They looked at each other and said, "We are fucked!" As they remembered that they were just drinking in celebration for her return and Jin's birthday. They were catching up on what she missed but as time went on they started from a celebration to a drinking competition as Katsuo stated he could drink more then she could; she took it as a challenge and agreed that whoever admits defeat or passes out is the loser. From the looks of it she won the challenge and as she felt smug but quickly felt depressed as she missed Jin's birthday. She thought, 'I deserve to die! Jin will never forgive me!'
Katsuo looked at the door that was locked and sighed hopelessly. Then he looked to see a total of 10 bottles of sake some on his desk and others on the floor, 'No wonder we were so messed up.' He thought. He then looked at the clock to see it was 10am so his kids were already in school. As a moment passed they here a the door unlock and Shinju walked in. She placed her hands on her hips and looked at the miserable pair as they were suffering from the hangover and trying to get their bearings.
Shinju spoke with a stern voice, "So..." Rose and Katsuo felt fear and quickly knew that they had to agree with whatever she wanted if they ever wanted to see the light of day again. She continues, "Do you know what you did wrong?" They quickly nodded but regretted as they became dizzy. "This will never happen again and you will properly apologize to Jin." Rose and Katsuo spoke, "Of course!" Shinju sighed and looked at Rose and said, "Go take a shower and come and eat breakfast. Your clothes are already unpacked and in the drawers in your room." Rose smiled gratefully and left to do what she was told. Shinju then closed the door and glared at her mate as she knows he was at fault and with an angry voice asked, "Why?"
Katsuo looked away and scratch the back of his head embarrassed. "I just wanted to spend some father and daughter time." He tried to avoid the question. She growled warning him. He sighed as he wasn't gonna get away from it. "I wasn't lying. I really wanted to spend some time with her but that's not the only reason. I wanted her to know what she missed these 11 years and to discuss more in detail what she wants to do and her role would be. However, the main reason was to tell her that Jin found his mate." Shinju's anger disappeared as she understood. She asked worriedly, "How did she take it?" As she remembers how Jin reacted when he found his mate. Katsuo answered, "She was happy. In fact, she seemed like she was relieved to hear that. Her exact words were, 'I'm truly happy for him. I was worried that he would have to wait to find his mate. May the goddess continue to bless him and his mate to live a long and happy life.'"
Shinju realised a breath she was holding and said, "She gave her blessing. Jin will be so happy." then she thought, 'At least I hope he will.' Katsuo continued, "I thought I should be here to console her but turned out she didn't have those kinds of feeling and actually just loves him like a brother. I'm embarrassed. Seems like I still don't know Rose."
Shinju smiled and hugged him, "Don't worry now that she's back we have all the time in the world to get to know our daughter. There's no rush." He hugged her back. Then they let go and she spoke, "Go clean up and come eat breakfast before it gets cold." She walks away and before she leaves the office he said with love, "I love you." She smiled and looked back at him and said gently, "I love you too."
Rose, Katsuo and Shinju are in the dining room eating breakfast. Shinju asked, "So, Rose what do you plan on doing today?" Rose answered, "Actually I wanted to see the school that y'all created. If that is alright?" Katsuo and Shinju smiled excitedly, "Of course!" Katsuo continued, "In fact, I'll contact the principal and let him know that I'll be dropping you off and he can give you the whole tour. Then Jin can bring you back with him; after y'all catch up of course." Rose agreed.
