Chapter 1: Chapter 1: What's Your Name?
In the middle of the woods a little boy was crying under a tree. The boy cried, as he fears he would not find his way home, for he was lost in the woods. As he cried he heard a twig snapped. He looked up and saw the bushes rustled and this caused him too cry harder. He held his knees closer to himself, trying to curl up into a ball. He shakes with fear as the bushes rustled more. Then a little girl came out of the bushes.
The boy stared wide eyed at the girl. She looked like an angel. She had short white hair and had eyes blue as crystals. She was wearing a white shirt with a blue wolf on it and was wearing blue jean shorts with white tennis shoes.
When the girl had jumped out of the bushes she looked to her left and saw a little boy sitting under a tree with tears falling down his face. She saw his water eyes were silver. As she looked closer she saw there was a hint of purple. He had jet black hair and looked messy. He was wearing a black shirt with white shorts. He was covered in dirt and his shirt was cut up.
As they stared at each other the girl spoke. "Are you ok?" She asked the boy. The boy was shocked to her hear voice. It sounded so soothing and angelic to his ears. He shook his head side to side. The girl asked, "Why are you crying?"
"I g-got l-lost. I'm s-scared I-I can't get b-back ho-home." The boy answered. He hugged his knees closer to himself. The girl slowly walked up to the boy as to not scare him. When she was right in front of him she bend down and reached out to touch his face but the boy flinched and she stopped. Then she slowly continued and once she touched his face she wiped away his tears on one side. When the boy realized what she was doing he relaxed a bit and the girl used her other hand to wipe the tears on the other side of his face.
"It's ok. I'll get you back home. So don't be scared. " she said as she stared at him and smiled reassuringly.
"Really?", the boy asked hopefully. She nodded with a smile.
"You live in the village right? The Moon Village." She asked. "Yes that's right!" The boy nodded excitedly. The girl stands up and stretches out her left hand and says, "Ok. Let's get going then." The boy reaches her hand and grabs it. She pulls him up and states, "Well we are a bit far away but we should be at the village when the sun sets. So don't let go of my hand ok. Don't worry we will be fine and get there safely. " She smiled. The boy smiled back and said, "Ok."
As they walk the girl asks, " What's your name?" The boy answers, " Jin. Yours?"
"Rose. How old are you Jin? I'm 7 years old." She asked.
"I'm 5 years old." He answered happily.
" What's your favorite color?" Rose asked. "Blue." Jin said.
"That's a pretty color. What is your favorite food?" Rose asked.
Jin smiled and said, "Yes! I really like steak and cheesecake and mashed potatoes, ice cream and ramen and...." He stopped talking as he stared at Rose. She was smiling at him. He thought 'So pretty! ', then he snapped out of his thoughts when she was getting close to his face.
" What's wrong Jin?" Rose asked worried.
" N-Nothing!" he stuttered and looked away so she couldn't see him blush. As they walk they talked. Sometimes laughing as the told jokes or funny stories. They took a break sitting on a rock looking at a lake. They've been walking for 2 hours straight. Rose looks up to the sky and says, "We better get going. We are almost there and the sun is going down soon." Jin gets up and winces. Rose looks down and notices Jin shoes are torn up. She turns around and crouches down, with her hands stretched behind her, "Here get on my back. I'll give you a piggy back ride. " She smiled.
Jin was about to say no until his feet throbbed in pain and asked, " Are you sure?" Rose nodded. "Don't worry I'm strong and were not that far away from the village. " Jin nods and gets on her back. She then stands up and starts walking.
"How much further do we need to go Rose?" Jin asked. She answered, "Maybe about an hour." He nodded and clung to Rose. He place his head on her shoulder and without realizing it was sniffing her.
Rose asked, "Are you sniffing me?"
Jin says, " I-I'm sorry. I won't do it again!" He blushes and buries his head in her shoulder embarrassed. Rose just laughed and says, "I don't mind if you sniff me Jin. Just wondering if I stink?"
"NO!" Rose flinches because she screamed in her ear. "I'm sorry." Jin apologize. "I-It j-just that ... um... you smell nice." He finished embarrassed. Rose blush. T-Thank you." They walk the rest of the way in comfortable silence. Jin had fallen asleep along the way. In the distance she sees the village in the distance and decides to wake up Jin till they are inside the village. Once they get inside she wakes up Jin. "Jin wake up. We are here." Jin stirs and slowly opens his eyes. "It sunset." He looks around and says excitedly, "You did it Rose! We made it!" Jin smiles at Rose and she smiles back. "Can you tell me where to go? So I can take you home." She asked. He nodded and said,
" Go straight until you see a big water fountain." She nodded and started walking. Once they see a fountain, "Go right." Rose makes a right. " It will be at the end of the road." As Rose walks down the road she starts noticing how there are less houses and there are trees lining down the road. It takes about 15mins before she sees a gate and once they pass it she sees a mansion. " Wow.." Rose said in wonder. She walks up the stairs and once they are right in front of the door then crouches down so Jin gets off her back. "well here we are." Jin moves in front of Rose and just as he is about to knock on the door. The door snaps open and next thing he knows he being embraced by his mother and he feels something wet.
"Where have you been Jin??!! Me and you father have been looking for you every where!" Jin mother says crying. Jin says, "I'm sorry mommy. I-I got lost in the woods b-but it's ok cause Rose brought me back. "
"Who's Rose?" Jin mother's asks. The she looks behind her son to see a little girl standing there. The girl waves her hand and introduces herself. "Hi. I'm Rose. I had found Jin and when he told me he was lost I helped him get home. Now that he is home I'll get going now." Just as Rose turns she sees a man standing at the end of the stairs. The man starts walking up the stairs and is standing in front of her. Rose thought, ""He looks like Jin if he was older.' Then the man spoke snapping her out of her thoughts, " You found our son?" Rose's eyes widen but she nodded.
Then Jin's father hugged Rose then looked at her and said, "Thank you Rose for bringing our son home. " Rose was shocked but then smiled, " Your welcome. Well I better be getting home now. "
"Of course. If there is anything you need Rose don't be afraid to come back here and ask me." Jin father said. Rose nods and just about to leave when Jin grabs Rose's hand and says, "Wait! Don't go. Please!"
" Jin Rose needs to go home before it gets dark. It's already sunset." Jin mother states. Just when Rose is about to speak Jin interrupts, "But it wil already be dark when she gets home. She lives far."
" How far do you live Rose?" Jin father asks her. Jin answers for her, " It took us 3 hours to get here."
"WHAT!!!" Jin mother screamed. "Why where you doing that far away from hom Jin?"
"I'm sorry. I got lost and tried to get home." Jin said sadly.
"Is this true?" Jin father asks Rose. Rose nods.
"Yes but it's ok. I will be fine. " She states.
"Nonsense! We can call your parents to come pick you up and explain the whole situation." Jin mother claims as the father agrees. Rose shakes her head and says,
" I'm sorry I don't know my parents number. It really is ok as long as I'm back by midnight I'll be ok. It is not my first time walking from here to my house. " Rose reassured.
"Jin is right sweet heart. Why don't you stay the night and then we can take you home and explain it to your parents. " Jin mother states.
"What if I gave you a call instead?" Rose asked. "You can give me your number and when I get home I promise to call. I can't stay here my parents will get really worried. " Rose said nervously.
"What if I drive you ho-" Rose interrupt Jin's father. "It really is fine! Besides you can't reach it by driving and even if you walk with me to get home you can get lost trying to get back home. So please don't worry I will ok!" Rose said pleading. Jin's parents looked at each other. Jin father signs and goes inside the house, grabs a piece of paper ,writes a number on it, comes out and bends down handing the piece of paper to Rose.
He looks at Rose sternly and says, "You will call us when you get home." Rise nods holding the piece of paper. "It takes you 3hours to get home correct?" Rose nods again faster. "It's already 8pm. If we don't get a call by 11PM sharp I'll come looking for you. Is that understood?"
Rose says, "I understand!"
"I'm trusting you Rose." Jin fathers states.
"I promise!" Rose said. Jin is still holding Rose's hand and says softly, "Rose..." . "Don't worry Jin I'll be fine. I'll call in 3 hours. I promise. " Rose said. Jin is still unsure. "Did you know that in my family when we make a promise we can't break it." Rose states proudly. "Really?" Jin asked. Rose nods, " I promise you Jin I will call in 3 hours." Jin nods and let's her go. She smiles, waves at them good bye and runs off.
"Let's go inside honey and wait. " Jin's mother said. They all nod and wait.
---2 hours and 58 minutes---
"Honey, how come she hasn't called yet? Oh my, what if something happen to her? What if she's endangered? Honey I'm worried!" Jin's mother said.
"Don't worry." Jin's father looks at the clock "There is still one more minute left. If she doesn't call then I'll get some of my friends and will go looking for her ok?"
"She promised." Jin stated. Just as he finished talking the clock turned 11pm. Then they hear the phone ring. Jin father answers the phone, "Rose is that you?"
"Yes sir. This Rose. I just got home."
"We are glad to hear it." Jin father states. He then looks at his wife and nods. She signs in relief.
"Sir, is it ok to talk to Jin?"Rose asked.
"Of course." Jin father answered. He hand the phone to Jin. Jin answers nervously, "Rose? Are you ok?" Rose answer, "Yes. It's me Jin. " Jin sighs happily. "Just liked I promised. I made it home safely. " Jin nods but realized she can't see so he said, "I'm happy." Rose continues, "Well I better get go to bed now its already late. Goo-" Jin interrupts Rose.
"Umm...." Jin try's to talk but no words come out. Rose just wait patiently. He looks at his parents and they nod reassuringly. He takes a deep breath and says, "Umm... Well...umm... I-I was wondering... if you ...c-can...come over tomorrow.. so we can hangout?!"He rushes the last words . He holds his breath waiting for her answer.
" I'm sorry Jin I can't make it tomorrow. " Rose said sadly. Jin bows his head down and try's to hold in his tears, " Oh.. that's ok.." he says sadly.
" But I can come by Friday if that's alright?" Rose asked. Jin whips his head up and asked, " Really?" He looked at his parents hopefully, giving them the puppy eye. They nod. " Yes! That's fine." He answers excitedly. "You promise?" he asked. "Yes I promised." "OK!" Jin is jumping up and down. Rose says "Good night Jin. See you Friday ." Jin answers back, " G-Good night Rose!" He then hangs up the phone and smiles. His parents giggled. "Well it's time to go to bed." Jin grabs his mother's outstretched hand. He gets ready for bed and his mother tucks him into bed and bids him good night. They go to bed. Jin looks out the window by his bed and toward the moon. "Rose..." He said softly and smiles as he went to sleep.
