Pa! A slap snapped Mei Xing out of her thoughts but still came as no surprise to her. After all, her father had always been this way, and it had only gotten worse after her mother committed suicide.
"Haha how does it feel to take your mother's place?" Chang Fan laughed sinisterly.
Mei Xing clenched her teeth. 'How did my mother end up with this demon? Why did she have to leave me here with him? How dare he talk about her mother that way?'
Another slap drew Mei Xing out of her thoughts once more. Her face was swollen and at some point her face had become wet with tears, but she still refused to cry out in pain. She would never give the monster that satisfaction.
"You have the same fire in your eyes that your mother had when I had first started beating her. Let's see if your fire burns longer than hers."
Over the years her father had become more liberal. In the beginning, he had only dared to slap around her mother. However, after her mother died 3 years ago, he got bolder. It started with Chang Fan slapping her like he had slapped her mother. But soon, it wasn't enough anymore. He began punching and kicking her. And it didn't stop there, he became more and more brutal as time passed. He began using golf clubs and vases, or anything else he could get his hands on.
Eventually, under her father's cruel beating, she fainted without realizing when.
