Chapter 32: Apology
"What...!"
"Sshhhhh! Just listen."
Covering Meili's mouth with his hand and stopping her from speaking, Axel who had her pressed against the door took a step back and said, "Thank you."
"I only di..."
"You didn't. You could've just left me there and taken the coffin or the Goddess inside it away with you and I wouldn't have blamed you. But, you not only saved me, you even left the coffin unopened. So I really do have to thank you, Meili. You don't know how important this mission was to me."
Waiting to see if Axel had anything else to say, Meili finally said, "It's fine. We had a deal. You already held up your side of the deal, so I just held up my end of it. Nothing more nothing less."
Smiling regretfully from hearing the last sentence, Axel understood that Meili was trying to put some distance between him and her.
Regardless of whatever it was though, Axel didn't plan on honouring her words.
"And sorry."
"Sorry?"
"Forgive me for what I'm going to do now."
Stepping forward and surprising Meili who had nowhere to go back, Axel hugged her waist and kissed greedily kissed her on the lips.
Not parting with them even as Meili tried to push him away and even went as far as to use a little of her inhuman strength she obtained from cultivating, Axel only stopped after an entire five minutes by the end of which the woman's eyes were filled with tears.
"You... What are you doing? As someone related to a God a mortal like me should... "
He didn't know how Meili figured out a glimpse of his background and even understood his past thoughts, but Axel didn't plan on letting her finish.
Kissing her once again with his tongue sneaking past through her tightly clenched teeth, Axel once again kissed the woman who couldn't understand what was going inside this boy's head.
It wasn't less than a day back that he looked at her as if she was just a piece of meat, so what was with that loving and apologetic look in his eyes?
Was this because she saved him and left eh coffin unopened?
Or was he feeling pity for her?
Humph! I'll...
Ahhhhh...
Moaning and unable to finish her thoughts because she had to admit that kissing Axel was a feeling unlike anything else due to because it always felt as if current passed through her body when he did so, Meili soon found her body turning weak as if it wanted to melt inside Axel's embrace.
Stretching her hands despite unwilling to, Meili moved them away from near Axel's chest and wrapped them around his back.
Closing her eyes to enjoy the kiss while taking in Axel's addictive scent, Meili's breathing before long turned hot and heavy.
"Axel... "
Finally stopping herself before it was too late, Meili used all her strength to make Axel stop as well.
"Why are you doing this? Why now of all time? I... "
"Sshhhhh.... Just listen."
Repeating the same thing he said before, Axel continued by cupping her beautiful face within his hands.
"I'm sorry, Meili."
Turning nervous instantly, Meili was getting prepared for him to do something else when he surprisingly kissed her on the forehead and continued speaking.
"I'm sorry for how I treated you, Meili. I was... I don't even know what was... Or is wrong with me.... I just know that I should've treated you better."
"You didn't deserve to be treated the way I did."
"I'm sorry."
"But... "
As Meili frowned thinking that Axel was going to ruin this heartfelt apology by some insane justification for why he did what he did, Axel said, "But what has happened has happened and I cannot change it anymore."
"So, all I can promise you is that when we meet again I'll make sure to treat you properly."
Not saying anything else, Axel waited for the silent Meili to say something.
"Are the two of you done? It feels really suffocating to stay inside this box? I don't even care if the brat is the one who opens the lid, just let me out!"
Groaning as he felt the entire mood he worked so hard to build disappear in an instant, Axel saw Meili chuckling and tapping his shoulder asking him to give her some space.
Moving back, Axel felt a little depressed from seeing that Meili was opening the door to leave.
That time however he didn't say anything and just watched as she walked outside the door.
"If we meet again... Show me how much you've changed... "
Closing the door behind her after she said those words, Meili didn't say anything else and hoped that Axel wasn't just saying those words and he truly meant it.
As for Axel, even though Meili in a sense refused him, she didn't do it our right and left a possibility of him getting back lose to her open due to which he only smiled.
But, the impatient Goddess inside the coffin once again started speaking and completely spoiled his happy mood.
"She's already gone brat! Now come and open this coffin! I can have as many women as you want serve you for all eternity! Just open this damm lid!!!"
