Chapter 29: CHAPTER 29
The preparation for the naming ceremony had been taking place, there were some people outside arranging the chairs and cleaning everywhere. The gate man and the driver too were their helping them to arranging the chairs, Adam's father was in the living room well dressed and sitting on the chair when his stepmother was in the kitchen with the housemaid including her friend cooking and arranging some things. Adam was in his room dressing for the meeting that he had with O. P. G company and wanted to go on time.
His father was watching morning news when he heard knocking at the door, they were Adam's stepmother's parents.
"Come in the door is not locked!" Door opened and closed, two of them entered. Her mother was carrying a bag full with gift that she wanted to give to those came.
"Good morning here!" Her parents greeted in chorused.
"Welcome Sir!, welcome Ma!!" Stood up to greet them and with respect.
"How are you? Baba mi!" Her mother asked him.
"Am good my in-laws!" Sat down back and they too sat down on another chair, put the bag on the floor beside her. Adam's stepmother came out from the kitchen as she heard their voices, knew that they heard arrived.
"Welcome Sir and welcome Ma!, how was your journey?"
"My daughter! How are you? And our journey is good" Her father asked.
"Am fine Daddy and how are you too Sir?"
"Am good my lovely daughter!"
"It's only your father that you see right!"
"Oh! Am very sorry Mom, how are you too?"
"Am good Oh!, where are my granddaughters? Let me see them"
"They are sleeping but let me go and bring them here for you!"
"No! No!!, let them be sleeping. I will go and check them inside after resting for few seconds!"
"Okay Ma!, so what should I offer you Sir and Ma!"
"Thank you my daughter but we are okay for now!"
They were talking when Adam came out from his room with the key in his hand and wanted to say good bye to his father before leaving.
"Well done Sir and Ma!, Daddy! Am on my way now!" Talking to his father after greeting his Stepmother's parents.
"Okay! And make sure you come back on time!"
"Yes Sir and I will!"
"My son!, how are you doing?" His stepmother's father asked.
"Am good Sir and thank you!" Said with respect.
"I think my daughter is taking care of you very well?"
"Yes Ma! She is!" Said with lower voice.
"That is good to hear!"
"You are going out, didn't stay for the naming!"
"The place is very important Sir and I have to go!"
"Okay! Then, money is important in this life so go safety!"
"Yes Sir! And thank you sir!" Adam left the house and sound of the door closed, got down to the compound, entering into his car and drove out.
It took him more than two hours to get to O. P. G company because of the serious traffic on his way, on normal day when the traffic was not busy like that it was just one hour. He entered the receptionist place, introduced himself to the lady there, she attended to him very well and taking him to Olawale's office. He came to the company that day and it was because of the meeting with Adam, they really needed their help and even his mother too was there to talk to Adam so that he could accept to help them.
O. P. G was the name of the company own my Olawale's late father, it was among the biggest company but Adam's father's company was the second biggest company in Nigeria after a big company own by a politician. Adam and the lady got there and knocking at the door.
"Please come in!, the door is unlocked!" Olawale said and door opened and closed, Adam and the lady entered.
"Sir!, Mr Adam is here!" The lady introduced.
"Welcome Sir! And please sit down!" He stood up for Adam, Adam sat down and him too sat down.
"You can go back to your post!" Talking to the lady and she left.
"Welcome once again Sir!" Greeted again.
"Thank you and nice to meet you!"
"Am the one that suppose to come Sir because we are the one that need your help, I was just surprised when you sent a massage that you are coming!" His mother was in the toilet.
"I just decided to come because there is party I don't want to be present there so that is why I sent the massage"
"Okay Sir!, what should I offer you!"
"Leave that!, let talk on what am here for please!"
"Okay! Sir" looking for a file when the toilet door opened and Mrs Olotun came out.
"Olawale! The visitor have been here!"
"Yes! Mother, this is Mr Adam that want to help us!"
"Mother! Mother! Mother!!" Looking at her and calling Mother silently inside his mind and looking confused.
"That you want to bargain with about our company!" Sat down on the chair and put her bag on her laps.
"Yes Ma, meet him!" Olawale said.
"My son welcome! And how are you?" Looking at him with the way he was looking and it was like he was thinking.
"Thank you Ma!, am good!" Changed his looking.
"Thank you for coming!, we are the one that suppose to come and meet you at your company but when you said that you are coming it surprised me even my son too!"
"I just felt like to come! And it can be another time that I too or our company will need your help, this life is unpredictable!"
"It's true and thank you once again!"
"Sir! This is the file that comprised everything that we need, we have sent it to many company before think that we should contact you too may be you can help" Adam was checking the file.
"All the contract giving to us before have been given to another company which is not even better than us and the government too know how our work is, that it's very good!"
"It's everything that you need that is written inside this file right, contract and other things right!" His mother that he had saw couldn't make him to say long again, it was like he should had got home.
"Yes Sir,, everything that is inside it!"
"Okay! It has been approved and you will now be receiving contract, as we is receiving I will be transfer some to your company to work on!"
"Ah! Thank you Sir and you wil love our work!"
"Thank you my Son!, you will never regret for doing this for us!"
"Yes Ma! And you are welcome, I will on my way now!" He stood up.
"Wait a minute, let get something for you to drink!" Mrs Olotun said.
"Am okay Mom!, am okay Ma!" Quickly corrected himself.
"If you said so!, thank you once again!" Adam looked at her again and left, sound of the door closed.
"From now on you will start coming to work not that you will be working at home, all what you suppose to know you won't!"
"I will because we must not disappoint Mr Adam at all!"
"Thank God that you know that!"
Everywhere had been clumsy when Adam arrived home, the naming haven't started they were waiting for the Alfa. They too had been blocked inside the traffic jams on their way coming.
Door opened and closed, Adam entered. Adam's father was so surprised to see him because that was not the time he gave him and him too was still in the living room watching movie. They had served all of them in the house round, told them to eat before the Alfa would arrived.
"You come home early!" Standing at the front of his father.
"Yes Sir!, what happened the naming haven't start!"
"Still waiting for the Alfa, they are blocked inside the traffic jams. I hope no problem that you come early?"
"The traffic is terrible when I too was going!, I saw my mother!"
"Your mother!, at where?" Asked with surprised.
"She is the mother of the boy that need our help, she is Mrs Olotun!"
"You recognized her?" Asking with surprised and unbelievable.
"Yes Daddy!, I do"
"How is that possible!, it's not possible for you to recognized your mother, not possible!"
"Have you forgotten you gave me her picture!"
"Oh! Oh!! It's true, that I said for future purpose!"
"Yes Daddy!, even I used an opportunity to take her picture as she was coming from the toilet because she is not on seat when I entered" brought his phone out from his pocket.
"Take a look at it Daddy!" Bend down and showing him.
"She is the one!, this is your mother am looking at!!"
"I said so!, to confirm very well that is why I took her picture secretly!"
"She is the one!" Domina got to the living room.
"Welcome brother Adam, I came to ask of what you will eat or have you eating at where you are coming from!"
"Where did I told you that am coming from, give me jollof rice and bring it to my room!"
"Your room!, you won't come out for the naming!" His father said.
"I want to rest Dad! Even it's not the Alfa that have been captured inside traffic. I want to rest and Domina bring my food to my room!" His stepmother's father entered.
"All the Alfa had arrived, where is your wife!" Asking Adam's father when she came down to the living room from the room.
"You heard that Adam, so go and change!"
"Adam! You are back, how was where you went to?"
"It was good! Thanks" said with lower voice and went to his room.
