Chapter 5: CHAPTER 5
The gate man opened the gate for Adam's father, he was just coming back from work and Adam too had got home since morning they had finished the camp. The driver packed at the car park and he got down from the car.
"Welcome sir" the gate man greeted.
"How are you and how was your day"
"Am fine sir and I thank God"
"Adam is back?" saw his car.
"Yes sir, since morning"
"Okay" going inside, door opened and closed. Adam was in the living room watching movie.
"Welcome daddy" he bow a little bit.
"How are you?, my son" he sat down on the chair.
"Fine sir, you come home late today"
"Yes, we have a meeting with a company"
"Okay, the agent come home today"
"He brought the housemaid?"
"No, he said that he don't have anyone in hand for now may be next week"
"No problem, let me go and shower" he stood up.
"What did you cook?" "Rice, daddy"
"Set my table, am coming"
"Okay, sir" put the remote on the table and stood up.
"By now you should have finish the camp?" he faced back.
"Yes dad, by Monday service will start"
"Okay, I want to talk to you"
"Right now, daddy"
"No! When I finish shower and finish eating"
"I think no problem, sir?" looking at his father.
"No problem, but it is small difficult"
"Small difficult, what happened?"
"Not really but it look some how "
"Okay dad, let me go and set your table"
"Let me go and shower" he went to his room and Adam went to the kitchen. Set the table and went back to the living room continued watching the movie.
After some minutes his father came out from his room, sat on the chair having his lunch. After finished eating Adam packed the plate together and took it to the kitchen to wash and came back to the living room sat beside his father.
"Daddy, what is it?" low the volume of the television.
"Why are you standing, sit down now"
"Okay, sir" he sat down facing his father.
"It is one of the girls that said that she us pregnant for me"
"Among all those girls that you carry around"
"Yes, she told me when am in the office today"
"So, what do you want to do now? Daddy"
"Tomorrow I want to go and see her parents"
"For what!, see her parents for what!" he shouted.
"To know them and ask them what to bring to them and how to do the wedding. Tell me the way they uses to do their own"
"You want to marry her?" repositioned the way he sat.
"Yes now, she is pregnant for me so the next thing is to marry her"
"How do you know that you are the father of the unborn child, all those runs girls"
"I have take her to see our family doctor to sign that when the child is born I will do a DNA test and if the child is not mine I will send her away"
"And she agree?" looking at his father.
"Yes now, she agreed"
"But dad, why don't you let her born the child and collect him or her than to marry her"
"It's you that said that I should remarry that is why I want to marry her"
"Not to those runs girls, I said find a future woman"
"Her too have future and very responsible girl"
"I see, runs girl!" shaking his head.
"Me too want to marry the kind of woman that you said but when she told me that she pregnant that is why I don't have choice again than to marry her"
"So where are you going now"
"Oyo state"
"Her parents are living in Oyo?"
"Yes, she is the only one living here"
"Both of you will go together?"
"Yes, I will meet her at morning star shop and we will go there"
"How old is she?"
"She just collected two years from you"
"Just two years?" said with lower voice.
"Yes, my son" looking at him asking different questions.
"She graduated from which university? Or she doesn't go to school "
"She graduated froma university, Obafemi Awolowo university"
"Are you serious!, how long have you been together?"
"Like five years, yes! It is five years"
"Okay dad, the wedding do you want it to be a big one"
"No, we will just go to registrary, her two parents, me and you"
"I beg daddy, count me out!"
"Why? I said am sorry now, you have to go please!"
"Is okay father, which day is that"
"May be next tomorrow"
"Okay, no problem"
"So will you like to meet her before the wedding?"
"No, we will meet at the registrary"
"You need to meet her before that time, let me call her to come"
"I said no!, I don't need to see her" said with anger.
"Okay! If you said, can I show you her picture"
"To show me her picture, no problem let see"
"This is her, how is she?" Adam collected the phone from his father's hand.
"She is too tall and not like that beautiful"
"Adam!! Adam!!!" his father laughed, took the remote and increased the volume.
Adam put the phone on the table, went to the kitchen to get water and sat down back beside his father watching movie.
