---------------------
Going back to when Drako started slaughtering the killers.
Kuroka ran to the inner courtyard, where Shuri was with Akeno and Raynare. According to the plan she and Drako had created, it had been Drako rather than her as she lay lazily using his arm as a pillow, the young dragon was to take charge of the assassins. At the same time, she protected the rest of the inhabitants of the Shrine.
Though she did not feel comfortable with that plan, as she preferred to get blood on her hands before Drako did, she knew that Drako needed that to become stronger. She did not know why the young dragon was so obsessed with gaining strength, but she would not ask him either. Everyone has their secrets, it was enough to trust him, and for him to trust her.
The assassins arrived shortly after Barakiel left the Shrine, which was very suspicious. It seemed that there were indeed traitors within Grigori, just as Shuri had told Drako a week before.
Just as they had planned, Drako pulled [Gandiva] out of wherever he kept the bow and went outside the Shrine. Meanwhile, Kuroka headed for the inner courtyard, where she was to protect Barakiel's family and the ever-problematic Raynare.
Kuroka was slightly concerned about Drako because she could sense two Ki's that had a similar intensity to the young dragon. They should be the leaders of this assassination mission, so they should have some hidden abilities.
Of course, all such concerns faded as she felt those two auras fade. There were only two occasions when an aura vanished suddenly, or at least two that Kuroka knew of.
The first was when an expert knew how to hide his aura, making it disappear in an instant. This might well be the case on this occasion, as they were some three hundred meters away and might not expect two users of [Senjutsu] capable of sensing auras from more than three hundred meters away.
The second was when the person in question died, was killed, had his life stolen - you can call it what you like. That was the option Kuroka wanted to believe, and the most likely at this point.
Kuroka knew how terrifying Drako's aim could be. Not for nothing had she been with him all these months. Drako was so good that he did not miss a shot at moving targets that were faster than the human eye could detect at less than 500 yards.
From a certain point of view, that was terrifying.
Kuroka confirmed the death of the two assassins as the aura in Drako's body grew more intense. She had never mentioned it to anyone before, but the aura Drako radiated was black and dark and smelled of blood as well. Kuroka knew why this was so, for Drako had achieved that level of strength through killing and killing.
Needless to say, what happened next. The rest of the assassins were nothing more than potato chips, simple sacks of flesh that moved chaotically and slowly. There was no way they could escape while within Drako's range.
Kuroka felt it when all the assassins were killed. Drako had reached a tipping point, though she did not know what it was. Drako's usually chaotic aura had stabilized as if a well had filled completely.
"Look what we have here, a cute little kitten, a shrine maiden and two nasty hybrids, two disgusting mistakes of my race."
Kuroka felt goosebumps.
A grown man, his physical appearance seemed to hover between thirty-five and forty, with three pairs of raven wings on his back and a mischievous smile on his face. There was no doubt, this guy was also part of the group of killers.
What had made Kuroka's skin crawl was the fact that she had not been able to feel his presence until he was in the same courtyard. What was more, there was another ki of the same level of power as the man in front of them.
She wanted to go help Drako, but she could not leave Shuri and the others alone. Drako trusted her, and she trusted Drako. Kuroka was certain that Drako could come out of it, her feline intuition told her so.
"Uncle Suriel... What are you doing here?"
Kuroka turned to face the person who had spoken. She was surprised to see that it was Raynare who had spoken and that she was retreating.
It was not uncommon to see Raynare frightened, as was common during her training with Barakiel. But this was different, she was not only scared, but she was also terrified. Raynare had never shown a similar expression before, or Kuroka had never seen anything like it.
She seemed... traumatized.
"Suriel..."
Shuri seemed to react to that name as well. She had a look of hate that Kuroka had never thought he could see in a woman as gentle as Shuri, she was even emitting intent to kill.
It seemed that this man was familiar to both girls. Raynare had even called him uncle. Are they even related?
"Uncle? Dirty-blooded scum like you dare to call me uncle?"
The man responds disparagingly to Raynare, giving her a vicious look."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
Raynare withdraws, afraid of the look the man was giving her.
"I never would have thought I'd be so lucky. Not only will I be able to kill a mistake like Lord Barakiel's daughter, but I will also be able to end my dead brother's mistake. Two for one, it seems the rubbish is on sale."

Kuroka kept on the alert. Though she was worried about Drako, she was sure he could deal with the devil, even for a short time. But Kuroka was convinced that these three girls could do nothing against this fallen angel.
It would be instant death.
Besides, it seemed Raynare had a complicated history with this man. Problems with a family member directly related to blood, that was always a complicated thing to deal with.
And it seems like it's not a regular problem. This man, Shuri had called him Suriel, didn't seem to think his niece was a living thing, treating her directly like dirt. This seemed to be because she was a hybrid just like Akeno, whom he was also treating like trash.
Wait.
Raynare was a hybrid?
She had never said anything about this, and Barakiel and Shuri had kept it from her, too. It did not appear that the couple had kept it to themselves because they did not know, as Shuri had not reacted at all to the words of this fallen angel.
"What's going on here?"
Kuroka had to ask. She's a cat, and you know what they say about cats.
"He's Suriel, a former member of Grigori. He's on Grigori's wanted list, a criminal wanted by all organizations. As to the reason for this..." Shuri seemed to hesitate.
She looked up at Raynare, who was paralyzed without moving. The young fallen angel's breathing was quickening greatly, and she barely seemed to be able to stand for long.
Shuri finally sighed, she could not hide this for long. Besides, this might be the best time for Raynare to step forward and overcome her trauma. It was these situations, the least expected, that could perform miracles.
"He is accused of killing his older brother, his wife, and abusing physically and emotionally his niece. That is his crime."
Kuroka shuddered at Shuri's words. After all Kuroka had heard in the past few minutes, she understood perfectly who Shuri was referring to when she spoke of Suriel's niece.
Boop.
Raynare was no longer able to stand, falling to the ground with one blow.
"Pathetic," Suriel mumbled.
Raynare did not even dare raise her head, bending it as far as she could.
Akeno was very frightened as well, she was hiding behind Shuri. She was small, but she understood that the man was addressing her when he was insulting the hybrids. Though surprised to learn that Raynare was like her, Akeno was too afraid to think about it too much.
"Sorry, human whore, but there's something you're wrong about. I never killed my brother or that filthy human scum. And if abusing my niece is how you consider training a person with some potential, then I can't deny what I did." Suriel says.
"You think I'm going to believe the words of a criminal? Your presence here and your motives, which are quite obvious, are more than proof that you are a criminal. You, Suriel, are evil. Besides, you were the only person at the scene of your brother's murder at the time of the murder. All the evidence is on your person, Suriel."
Shuri says to him, serious face and evident hatred. Shuri did not even bother to hide the hatred she felt for Suriel.
"You're wrong, I wasn't the only person in that place. There was one more person in that house that day."
It seemed the world had come to a standstill for Shuri. What Suriel said was true, there was one more person that day. But she was just a little girl, she wasn't even 8 years old at the time.
Though Shuri could not believe it, she could not help but look at the girl sitting on the floor.
Raynare was the only survivor of the fire that day. That fire that everyone thought Suriel had set.
"Say it, Raynare! Tell this human how you burned your parents alive! Say it!"
Suriel was screaming and gesticulating like a madman.
"No, it wasn't me. It wasn't me. I didn't do it."
Raynare murmured, it seemed her spirit had been torn from her body.
"Yes, you were! I saw it! Vretil, your father, and I are sons of the seraphim Uriel, which makes you his granddaughter. Uriel is similar to Barakiel in a sense. If the latter is known as Lighting of God, the former is known as Fire of God. It's ironic that neither Vretil nor I inherited his sacred fire, but that a filthy hybrid like you did. But not only that, you had to awaken a Sacred Gear of the highest order."
"I didn't do it. Shut up, shut up now. I didn't do it, I didn't do it."
"You did it! But nobody believed me when I said it. Even that bastard Azazel kicked me out of the organization... All because of you! Because of a fucking hybrid! Because of a mistake that should never have been born! Your power should be mine! Only I deserve Uriel's power!"
Kuroka had no doubts, this guy was totally crazy. She could not bear to see the state Raynare was in, she seemed to be on the verge of breaking down mentally, and was going to interrupt the conversation. But there was something that interrupted her, something that filled her with joy.
Kuroka had been aware of Drako's situation the entire time. As much as she had to protect Shuri and company, she would not hesitate to come to Drako's aid if he found himself in a critical situation.
Currently, Drako's aura was increasing by leaps and bounds.
Drako's size was increasing as well, he seemed to be transforming.
Kuroka knew what was happening.
Drako was evolving.
"GuuuuruugaaaAAAAAAAA!"
