Chapter 76: u

"Why is Remus not responding!?" Lily asked. "I don't know, but it must have something to do with Harry." Dumbledore said, stroking his beard. Just then the fire roared to life as Remus stepped into the house. "Remus!" Lily yelled as she ran at the man. "Lily step back!" Dumbledore demanded as he drew his wand. James and Sirius joined him and levelled their wands at their friend. Lily, now remembering the cause of the maurader's reunion jumped to the side.

"Remus, where is Harry?" Dumbledore asked. "Why do you wish to know?" Remus asked, taking his own wand out. "He's gone missing, and you are considerably late after getting my message." Dumbledore said. "I was in the middle of some business when your message arrived." Remus stated. "So you don't know where he is?" Sirius asked. "No, I don't." Remus remarked.

"I wish you wouldn't lie Remus, we went to the Dursley's and they told us his Uncle had taken him." Dumbledore said, not wavering with his wand. "Well then, I guess you caught me." Remus said pulling a chair from under the table. He sat down and pocketed his wand. "Is he okay!?" Lily demanded as tears rolled down her cheeks. "He's perfectly fine. Might I get some tea?" Remus asked. Lily nodded before waving her wand and a kettle floated in. "Thank you Lily." Remus said crossing his legs.

"I doubt he is fine, if what happened to James is any indication." Sirius stated, before lowering his wand. Remus merely raised his eyebrow as he took a sip. "What have you done to Harry!?" James demanded. Remus was silent. "Well?" Dumbledore asked. Remus smiled and said, "none, of your business." Everyone was shocked when he did this. "You tell me, or I will bring you to headquarters and have you doused with veritaserum!" James yelled. "Under what crime?" Remus asked. "Kidnapping. I don't want to Remus, but I will if I must?" James said, pleading with his friend.

"Why?" Remus asked, stopping everyone in their tracks. "Why what?" Dumbledore asked. "Why do you care?" Remus asked. "Why wouldn't I? He's my son!" Lily declared. "He knows why you would want him back. But why would James?" Remus asked. "Or Albus? Or Sirius?" Remus continued. Lily's heart broke when she heard this. "He knows, doesn't he?" She asked, her face becoming pale. Everyone but Remus looked at her with a questioning look. "He does. That's one reason why we are in this mess." Remus said, confusing everyone else.

"What are you talking about Remus?" Sirius asked. "He knows that his heir status was revoked, and that you placed him under your house as an outcast." Remus said, standing from his chair. "How dare you tell him that!" James yelled. "I dare?" Remus asked, his voice getting cold. "I dare?! I'm not the one who abandoned him to those animals! I'm not the reason he has nightmares about his own life. I am not the one who helped him. That, was someone else. I only freed him from his prison that you all sentenced him to." Remus said as he stepped into the fire. "Leaky Cauldron." He said, throwing floo powder at his feet.

Lily openly burst into tears at hearing this and ran from the room. "Lily..." James started before a hex came flying at him. "Give her space James. I suggest going to check the tapestry if you haven't to just what happened to Harry." Dumbledore said. "I did, but I have no idea what I found means." James said. "Do you mind showing us?" Sirius asked. James motioned for them to follow him, and led them to a room that was empty except for the walls. The walls had branches stretched out all over them, and connected to names. James led them over to the part where the current family existed in the room.

"Harry's still alive, but something is wrong with his branch." James said. Harry's branch was indeed in bad shape. The branch started off fine, but as it got closer to his name the branch had turned black and withered before breaking entirely. Harry's name, on the other hand was silver, indicating he was alive. "See what I mean?" James said. "I've never seen anything like this." Dumbledore said in awe. "Neither have I." Sirius stated.

About a half hour ago in Remus and Harry's Room...

"So let me get this straight. You met a strange man, who crafts magical focci, and he crafted you a wand, and the chance to be his apprentice?" Ambrose asked. "Basically." Harry said happily. "I do agree with him on you learning a martial art." Ambrose said. "So what are our we going to do now?" Harry asked. "As soon as Remus comes back, I am going to send him to the nearest contractor to start getting the mansion rebuilt." Ambrose stated. "And what are we going to do?" Harry asked. "We, meaning you, are going to start studying etiquette, while I search for something in the grimoire for a certain something." Ambrose explained. "I guess that will work." Harry said before pulling the book on etiquette and customs of Lords.

About a half hour later Remus stumbled in. "Well, that could have gone better." He said before sitting down. Harry and Ambrose looked at him with a questioning look. "I was threatened at wand point to tell them where you are. Seems like James didn't want his reputation to be hurt more than if you were okay." Remus said, opening the newspaper. "How could you tell? And what about M-Lily?" Harry asked. "Lily was an emotional wreck when I got there, she does care Harry, at least, at this point. As for how I could tell about his reputation, I could smell it on him, he was so worried about it." Remus said. "So, where did you disappear to after Gringotts?" Remus asked. Harry recounted his tale once again. "Hm, interesting. Anyone got any idea of any place where Harry can learn martial arts?" Remus asked.

"I may know of a place, but we would have to leave the country." Ambrose said. "How will I preform my duties if we are not in England?" Remus asked. "And how far away must we go?" He continued. "You don't have to do your duties unless you get a notification from the Wizengamot." Ambrose explained. "Very well. You have yet to claim where we must go." Remus stressed. "It's far. Really far. Somewhere in Asia, most likely China or the Tibet area." Ambrose explained. "Why there, and for how long?" Remus asked. "Depends on when we find him." Ambrose said.

"Who are we searching for?" Harry asked. "His name is Bodhidharma, the founder of Chinese Kung Fu." Ambrose explained. "How is he still alive!?" Harry asked. "There are a few ways to achieve immortality Hadrian." Ambrose said, shocking Harry and Remus. "But what about Harry's apprenticeship?" Remus asked. "We should be fine, it should only at most take us six months to find him." Ambrose explained. "Another thing, what makes you think he will talk to us, much less teach Harry?" Remus asked. "It would do him good to meet an old friend." Ambrose said with a chuckle. "I'm going to go talk to the contractors while I digest this." Remus said, picking up the blueprints. "I suggest you start teaching him if you haven't." Remus said out the door.

Harry looked at Ambrose with starry eyes. "Huh, very well then." Ambrose said before floating over to the Grimoire. "Come here Hadrian." Ambrose said with a stern voice. Harry quickly moved over to the table. "Now Harry, as you probably know, there are three categories of magic. Dark, Light, and Grey." Ambrose explained. "Yeah." Harry confirmed. "What you don't know, is that those categories don't matter. Technically, Humans came up with these categories, to also separate themselves in such a way." Ambrose explained.

"All of them are wrong in that sense. That is not what the Mother wanted to happen." Ambrose said. "Who is the Mother?" Harry asked. "Now you're asking the right questions. The Mother, is magic." Ambrose said sagely. "What?" Harry asked confused. "It seems that the world is in worse shape then I feared it was." The ghost said sadly. "Okay, lets start at the beginning. The very beginning. When the universe exploded into existence, a group of beings were formed from the power that was erupted." Ambrose explained.

"The Greek called them Primordial's, and believed there were many of them. In that sense they were both right and wrong. These Primordial beings are what fuel the universe, and keep everything alive. Lets start with the eldest. Tempus. He is time itself. He was also created first to keep the universe flowing. Next came the Mother, or Magicae. She filled the emptiness with magic, leading to the next two. Vita, and Mortem. Creaturae and Exitium. Creation and destruction. These two also rule over life and death. Without them, there would be nothing in the universe, just magic and time. Finally two more showed up, also known as the youngest of them all. Fortuna and Fatum. Fate, and Luck. Fate determines certain events in time, and Luck tends to change them, giving luck a more prankster side, and fate a more angry side. These beings control all the universe." Ambrose explained.

"Wow, they must be really strong." Harry said in awe. "Yes, they are. Now, us wizards used to have a holiday to celebrate Magicae breathing magic into us, and at one point teaching us to some degree, how to master our magic." Ambrose explained. "How do you know this?" Harry asked. "Our family has existed since the Mother deemed us advanced enough to use magic. The Thornwood's are the direct descendants of the Druids of old. She taught us the basics of our magic, and we have kept a record of everything she every told us and taught us." Ambrose said. "How long ago did she teach us?" Harry asked.

"Humans have had magic for roughly twenty thousand years. Right around then humanity started to form tribes and clans, the first steps towards civilization as we know it today." Ambrose explained. "Now you must not think we are the only ones who ever has their magic from then. Many people with no such roots gain magic as the Mother sees fit. She also gets Fate and Luck to help with who gains magic. The Thornwood family, our family, first started to exist in roughly five thousand B.C. as you call it. Many families now are not as old as ours. But the ones who are, you should be friendly around, but be cautious, they too know grey magic." Ambrose explained.

"Oh, if anyone ever says they are higher than another because they are of better blood, tell them that every family started with a mudblood." Ambrose said with a grin. "What's a mudblood?" Harry asked. "It's a derogatory term used to describe someone of muggle background but still has magic." Remus said from behind them. "How'd it go?" Harry asked. "It went fine. But I never want to hear you use that word towards a muggleborn or halfblood, do you understand me?" Remus asked. "Yes Uncle Moony." Harry said. "How long did they say it will take to build the mansion?" Ambrose asked. "Roughly two years, just in time for Harry to start wand making." Remus said with a smile. "It's not wand making, it's focci crafting!" Harry yelled
