Chapter 5: Life's First Shatter
3 hours before.....
Li began to work on Helios' Mirror, the new name of the glass city. The surrounding area was flat, with thick glass as floors and glass mountains circling the site. Li started on the ground right beside the monolith. The monolith was to be guarded by large walls and given the most protection, for it was the List of Creation.
SYSTEM: THICK GLASS WALLS ACQUIRED
The walls were at least forty feet high, with walkways on the top for guards. Li created gates, doors, armory areas, glass weapons, rest areas, and an office for whoever becomes in charge. All these things were added to the monolith. Li still couldn't see the actual words, but he knew they were up there. After the large walls were made, Li started to lay the groundwork for the village that was to be. He created small houses, made of glass. They were around the height of 8-9 ft tall all around. Inside, he made glass beds, tables, couches, bookshelves, desks, chairs, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Everything was entirely made of glass. Li also created one house, a little larger than the rest, with it being two stories, for the village chief whenever he came around to making some living beings. He also made some other places, glass hotels, blacksmiths, and stores. Li even created glass restaurants with the finest in glass cuisine, even if the glass food might shatter in your mouth.
Overall, his glass village was completed. Now was the hardest part, the creation of life. Li had never studied anatomy back on Earth, so he wasn't too sure how to make a glass person or creature.
Li wanted a glass wolf to start with, because who doesn't want a glass wolf.
SYSTEM: DO YOU WANT A GLASS WOLF? BECAUSE YOUR IMAGE OF A WOLF IS AWFUL. I RECOMMEND YOU LET ME HELP YOU ON THIS ONE.
"Alright, glad you know anatomy".
SYSTEM: I DON'T...HEH
Li could hear the system chuckle a little, it was almost metallic, but inside the hideous sound of altered sound, was a high pitched voice, almost feminine. Of course, Li couldn't make it out yet.
Soon enough a glass wolf was made. It was floating a little bit off the ground, about half a foot. Its glass tail was smooth and looked very realistic for a tail made of glass. The jaw line was shiny, according to Li, and had the look of a carnivore.
SYSTEM: GLASS CREATURES DON'T NEED TO EAT, BUT THEY CAN. THEIR STOMACHS ARE LIKE STORAGE POUCHES. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO SET DOWN THE WOLF?
"Yes". Li said
The system then let go of the wolf. It landed on the ground and shattered. All the pieces were scattered around the glass floor.
"What the hell system? I thought it would be durable".
SYSTEM: DID I SAY IT WAS DURABLE? DID YOU WANT A DURABLE ONE? IT IS GLASS AFTER ALL.
"I'd like one, yes".
The system remade a glass wolf, this time made of bullet proof glass.
SYSTEM: BULLET PROOF GLASS ACQUIRED
"Alright, gently sit this one down, I don't want this one to break".
The glass wolf was gently set down, and this time, it didn't shatter like the last one.
SYSTEM: WOULD YOU LIKE A SOUL, SINCE YOU CAN'T VISUALIZE A SOUL YET?
"Yeah, that would make things a little easier".
Soon a round, white, light object was in Li's hand. It was soft to touch and almost felt buoyant, about to float away. Li stepped up to the wolf and pressed the soul against the head of the beast. The soul slowly went through the head and expanded in the body of the wolf. Nothing happened for a few seconds until the tail on the wolf started to wag. The wolf blinked a few times and looked up at Li. The wolf then came over and bit Li's balls.
"SH*T" Li screamed in pain and tried to go into a fetal position, but the wolf didn't let go.
SYSTEM: ACHIEVEMENT: IT'S A BOY! OR GIRL
REWARD: MOTHER NATURE'S EARPIECE
A small earring, made of wood and emerald was in Li's ear. Once the earring was made, the wolf let go. There wasn't any blood due to Li's resistance towards his creations, but it still hurt like hell for Li. After a few minutes, Li stood back up from his fetal position, and looked at the wolf.
"It's just sitting there...menacingly". Li thought. Li started to rub his temples when he felt the earring in his ear.
"Uh system, what's this?"
SYSTEM: THIS IS MOTHER NATURE'S EARPIECE. YOU ARE FRIENDLY TO ALL CREATURES BESIDE HUMANOID CREATURES. YOU ALSO HAVE THE POWER TO NATURE IN YOUR HAND. YOU MUST STILL CREATE WOOD AND EMERALD FOR IT TO EXIST WITHIN THE WORLD.
Li, with the help of the system, began to form other creatures. Some more wolves, some bears, lots of birds, rabbits, insects, toads, and a crystal nine-tail fox. Once they were made, they gathered around Li as it was their leader.
SYSTEM: NINE-TAILED FOX EXCEEDS NORMAL ANIMAL INTELLIGENCE. NAME IT
"Name it? Uh... what's the gender?"
SYSTEM: YOU DIDN'T SPECIFY GENDER, SO I MADE IT FEMALE. THE NINE-TAILED FOX ALSO MUST BE ABLE TO USE MANA.
"What's a good name....hmm.... Hilda..no...well let's do Kitsune.
The crystal fox seemed to glow for a little bit, almost a purple color. Soon, the light surrounding the fox died down.
"Greetings, Master Li Masamune, son of Gorō Nyūdō Masamune. I am what you have called Kitsune. You could have thought of something better, but I'll keep the name.
Soon the fox was gathered into a purple mist, until a young, attractive lady, not made of crystal appeared. She looked around to be twenty-ish, wearing a kimono. It looked like something Li would imagine. Her curves were in the right places, and here chest size wasn't too large or small. For it, it was a good 8.5/10 on her looks, but Li didn't judge based off looks, he preferred personality the best.
SYSTEM: MANA USE HAVE BEEN CREATED. SINCE SOMEONE YOU CREATED HAS CREATED THE RULES OF MANA, THEY SHALL BE AN EXISTENCE ONLY UNDER YOU.
MISSION FAILURE: SOMEONE ELSE CREATED THE RULES OF MANA.
PUNISHMENT: YOU SHALL BE STRUCK AND INJURED..... PUNISHMENT CANCELLED DUE TO A MISSION BEFORE THAT I WOULD GIVE A REWARD LATER FOR. YOUR REWARD IS TO NOT GET STRUCK. LUCKY BASTARD.
"Indeed, you are a very lucky person, Master Li."
Li towards Kitsune, and she just stood there, waiting for something to do.
"Are you reading my mind?" Li asked, thankful that he didn't get struck by something.
"Of course, for I am now the master of all mana. All things related to mana go through me, and you are an existence that has created mana. Would you like me to accompanying you along while your, uh what does it call itself, "system" helps you create a better world?
Li pondered on the idea. He wouldn't mind someone to talk to along the way. She was also quite attractive and could be useful with implementing mana within the world's biomes.
"Alright, I'm fine with it". Li began to walk off towards another area of the world, when Kitsune stopped him.
"Before we leave, we should probably create some humanoid creatures as well. I hope you didn't create this town just for the animals, no offence to them".
Li turned around.
"Oh yeah, forgot about that".
