Chapter 20: Coming Back Home

The plane I boarded has just touched down the airport. I looked outside the window and saw the scenery that I last saw a year ago when I went to Paris. A year has passed and I haven't even gone home it that time.

'I wonder if many things have changed in this one year.' I thought to myself.

I left Paris all by myself. Aunt May send me off the airport crying. Franz came by before I boarded and wished me luck. He also said that he has a surprise but I need to wait until I get it. Shiki on the other hand, I haven't seen even his shadow since yesterday.

That made my spirit a little down. I know that I will see Shiki again after I get back home but I do not know when he will be going to pop up. All I know is that my first mission has been given to me.

"I need to be a cupid for Geraldine and Christopher." I whispered to myself and sighed.

Well that will be a little hard. Knowing that my love life wasn't successful in my past life and now I need to get those two together. I thought really hard about those two and I just can't seem to find anything they are similar with each other, actually they are the exact opposites.

Christopher is a serious and reserved person. Like Jeremy, he is a gentleman and many women in campus have a crush on him. Those two were nicknamed 'the white princes' of the business management department.

Geraldine, on the other hand is an open minded person. She is a party girl and loves being the center of attention. I can't say that she is a play girl because she dates one man at a time, but she changes her boyfriend like she changes her dress. I don't see her as play girl but a girl that is really searching for her one true love. If the guy she dates isn't the 'one', then she doesn't hesitate to break up with him.

"How will I get those two together?" I wonder.

The people in the airplane started to get off and I followed as well. After retrieving my luggage in the carousel, I go straight at the arrival area. I really wasn't expecting for someone to pick me up because I didn't tell anyone I was going home. I want to surprise my parents and friends that I was back. What they know was I will be studying in Paris for two years. But because of special circumstances, I can't stay in Paris that long. I was excited for them to know that I have come home and I will be continuing my studies at my old university.

I was planning on hailing a taxi when out of nowhere someone grabbed my luggage away from me. I thought I was being robbed but when I looked around and was about to scream for help I saw someone I wasn't expecting to be here.

"J-Jeremy!" I was surprised when I saw him. He was looking at me with a happy smile on his face.

"Ana, welcome home." Jeremy greeted. "Come, my car is parked over there."

Jeremy grabbed my hand like in the past and led the way.

"Um Jeremy, how did you know I was coming?" I asked curiously. I didn't tell anyone of my flight schedule, let alone going back home.

"Will you be mad if I tell you?" Jeremy looked at me and gave me a sad smile. "Well I had someone watch for your name in the passenger list going here from Paris. The whole year you were away, they have monitored every passenger's name."

My eyes went wide with surprise. "I-Is that even legal?!" I said out loud.

Jeremy made a gesture with his fingers to keep silent and had a slight mischievous smile on his lips. I looked around seeing if anyone heard our conversation.

"I had my means and reasons behind it?" Jeremy said in a hushed voice. "The day you went away left me thinking. I could have followed you to Paris but I respected your wishes. But I guess I can't help but to know at least when you are coming home." He sighed and looked at the night sky above.

"W-Why would you even want to follow me in Paris?" I asked surprised. "You have Angelika here right. You can't just leave her here." The mention of Angelika's name brought a frown in Jeremy's face but didn't answer my question.

We arrived at the parking area and walked towards his car. I know his car from a mile away, it was a yellow Camaro. I remembered when we watched the movie Transformers and he loved the character Bumblebee. He bought himself a yellow Camaro as his very first car when he started college.

Jeremy got his car keys and unlocked the car with a push of the button. He then put my luggage in the car's trunk and led me to the passenger side and opened the door for me like a gentleman. He has always been like that to me, but this just made my heart ache in the past because he is treating me just like a little sister. Surprisingly, I am not feeling pain right now. I am rather surprised why Jeremy would be here.

"You didn't need to pick me up you know. I can take a taxi home." I said looking at the open door.

I looked at Jeremy and he was looking a little hurt with what I said. I wasn't sure why and thought that my words didn't sound offensive or anything.

"Can't I at least take you home?" Jeremy said with a sad smile. "I know that our relationship isn't what it used to be but at least let me make it up to you."

I nodded slightly. I don't know what happened this past year but I am sure that in my past life after Jeremy and Angelika got together, he started drifting away from me. If they are together right now, then why is Jeremy here in front of me all of a sudden?

Jeremy smiled happily now and I was taken aback. I am confused of what was going on and just silently entered and sat on the passenger seat. I was ready for Jeremy's indifference when I got back home but this Jeremy just made me confused.

'What happened to him this past year?' I thought. I didn't have any news about him because my friends and parents never mentioned him to me this past year.

Jeremy got in and seated in the driver seat with a smile. He glanced at me and out of nowhere inched towards me that startled me. I leaned away out of reflex.

"W-What are you doing?" I asked in panic.

"You always forget to put your seat belt on. This little thing didn't change, thankfully." Jeremy put on my seatbelt for me.

"Y-You should have just told me you know. I can do it myself." I felt shy.

In the past I have not put my seat belt on purpose just for Jeremy himself to put it for me. I was a spoiled brat back then when I remember it, but now I didn't intend to forget putting it on. It was just that Jeremy saw it before I reacted.

'And why did he say thankfully?' I thought. 'Did he know even then that I didn't put the seat belt on purpose?' This just made me more embarrassed of my past behavior.
