Chapter 8: Chapter 8 : Gift
In the bed, there is middle aged old man, he blinked his eye thought of something. Tonight even already so late he aren't sleepy. His thought of what Professor Quinn suggests before suddenly when Professor say it like that deep down in his heart feel very heavy.
Professor Quinn just like a father figure for me, from age 10 I meet Professor until now, already more than 30 years I know Professor Quinn as headmaster and always thought he will be so, but to think of Professor Quinn not as Headmaster never come to my mind.
Joan was raised by single parent his mother, he really wants a father, that time his family really have tight budget but his mother still send him to school. When he were admitted to this academy his mother really happy.
Because his mother worried for him travel alone to academy she come together with him but that time he didn't know his mother didn't have enough money to travel back home. He feel dejected when he remembered it.
But his mother teach him not to give up till the end, and she asked to work at academy. Somehow Joan know this story after few months and almost school break time. 'That young me so careless. If anything happened to her I really can't forgive myself'.
Because my mother already here, after that I am then always staying at academy and didn't go anywhere catch Professor Quinn attention. Professor once before said to me "i am just like you growing up here, and my father working at this academy too" 'make me feel i want to be just like him'.
Then I followed his footsteps entering college then teaching there and I always come back visiting him and my mother.
Only one day, when one of Professor who represents my college teaching at the academy retiring then i am been offered to come back to academy as association college teacher replacing that retired Professor.
The tradition already been held so long in this academy that 4 associate Professor from college became a teacher here to teach, guide and encourage young elements user and at the same time improving teaching quality of this academy.
Morning come, Joan's assistant informed him Mr. Mason visit to pick his daughter back and come to meet him. Regarding his daughter good ability Joan did feel he need to talk with him.
"Professor Anderson did my daughter create a problem?" Ask Mr. Mason
Joan smiled "You really have very precious daughter, Mr. Mason" "She didn't create too many problems, just near make one of our stone formations collapsed" Joan said in amused tone.
Yes, it's a stone formation for that lake. They used few stone that contain certain element energy with some combination created a formation special for the lake.
"But she have very good sister and friends that manage to noticed us immediately, so there is no big deal" continues Joan
Mason is a businessman from a business family, but he really wants his children to get hold on elements knowledge properly since there is some family heritage need of element users knowledge.
When he realized that mischief daughter is missing, he already guessed what is going on. So that's why he come looking for Professor Joan Anderson immediately when he arrived.
"I am very sorry for this inconvenience Professor, how about if one days if academy feel this little girl will useful we gladly offer our hand to help" he pass a box to Professor Anderson "this is small apologize token from us"
Joan give back the box to him and said "It's not that academy didn't need it but my working ethic didn't allowed this. How about just let that little girl as our student? Maybe we can nature her in our own way that might benefit our young generation." Joan seem give loss suggestions but actually looting the good seed future student.
Mr. Mason feel very happy when 2 of his daughter become student in this academy and immediately suggest "so I just left this little girl here in your care, thank you very much." Mr. Mason swiftly left the office leaving daze Professor Joan and gift box on table.
"Why do I feel I'm been taken advantage?" Muttering Joan irritated "Sure businessman have more swift ability in taking advantage from others."
But then he still feel happy, sooner or later doesn't matter, since good seed been thrown in his care he definitely happy to nature it.
He then ask his attendant summoning little girl Ember to his office.
The small episode happened in that morning was the beginning of close student teacher relationships of Joan and little girl Ember who will grow up as beautiful as flower and smart as she been tutored personally by Joan.
All this happened in the same morning as Argent Quinn attend his first junior class after so many years teaching.
Somehow Argent feel his world really feels like a wheel and he is now in another starting line.
