Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Out of Place
At the Byron's Grand Hall.
Alex and Denise are still inside the car.
"Wear this mask.You don't have to socialize with them. Just stay by my side and don't go anywhere. Secretary Ross will deal with other guests of Byron's." He instructed Denise.
"Yes." She replied.
Mike opened the door for them and he let Alex to assist Denise in her exit way in the car.
As they are about to step the red carpet where photographers are ready to take some photos to them. There were people from media secretly taking photos of them.
The beauty of Denise caught the attention of some prominent men in the business world. They gave her a gaze and stare while entering the grand entrance of the hall.
Alex noticed the way their eyes turned to Denise while they were walking. He hold her arms a little tight as a response to them that he owns her. That is the unconscious response of males that even them is not aware they're doing it.
"Hey! Alex!" A lady is waving her hand to catch the attention of Alex.
"Hailey!" He shouted her name with a smile.
"How are you?" Hailey asked.
Hailey is the youngest child of Richard and Jaimey Byron. She's always lively and approachable as ever before.
"I'm good." There's no difference whether Alex talked to others and to Denise, his voice is still cold but at least with a gentle in his tone.
"It's been years since the last time we saw each other." She's holding a glass of wine. Hailey make sure that even she laughed so loud there's still elegance in her way.
"So, how's your stay in Italy?"
"Well, you know it's kinda boring." And she laughed.
She's wearing a cream long gown and her chest is almost exposed.
"How do you notice me?" Alex is a bit curious how could she notice him easily since he's wearing a mask. Aside from that, it's been a decade since they last saw each other. Is she stalking him?
"Who's with you?" Hailey noticed the woman beside Alex.
"She's my wife, Denise." He introduced her to Hailey.
"Ugh! You're married?" There's a curiosity in her voice.
"Since when?" Her sweet voice suddenly changed.
Denise is just watching how they talked. She can't see the face of the woman in front of her but her beautiful is obvious.
They were interrupted with the arrival of Dr.Henry Jones.
"Mr. Wilson, I'm glad to see you here for a while. How doing? " A handsome appeared in front of them.
It was awkward for her swing Alex and his friends are talking. She felt like she's not needed here. So, without noticing by Alex she stepped backward.
She took a few steps more just to get herself away from them. While walking, she landed in the garden beside the hall. The moon is so bright but freezing outside. And, sat down for a little while.
