Moving in together
"But we haven't named our party yet. Should we come up with a name now?"
"I think it's getting late. Let's sleep on it and we will meet back together here in the morning. We can decide the name then."
"Ok, but it might be difficult for me to get a day off tomorrow since I didn't work today. I also used up all my money just now for registration."
"It's alright. Try to get the day off but if you have no choice but to leave, just take off. You can stay with me at my place until we earn a bit more money to get an inn." I tried to come up with a way for Turek to leaving his current place. It would be a bit cramped in my shack but I didn't have a better option yet. I needed more money.
"No need. I still have one silver left right? How about both of you come to my inn and we can stay in one room. We can do another quest tomorrow, and we should have enough money to continue living in the inn. We can think about a more permanent solution later."
Cleo's plan was pretty good. I wouldn't have to sleep in my small shack and Turek would be able to leave his place right away.
"OK, seems like a good idea. I will gather my stuff from my shack and meet you at your inn. Turek, you do the same"
"Oh.. ok. I will let Peter know that I am moving out."
"Great! I am staying at Cobb's inn. I will let them know that I need a bigger room with 3 beds"
"Do you think 1 silver will be enough?"
"It should be fine. The big room is 15 coppers a day and the small one where I live is 10 coppers a day. Meals are included as well. We should be able to live for 2 or 3 days but we will have to do a quest right away if we want to continue living there."
We said goodbye and I started walking back to my shack. I had lived in this shack for last few months. I have had to switch places many times mostly because the neighbourhood would get too dangerous. Sometimes my stuff would get stolen and sometimes a murder might happen nearby. So I was quite happy to be moving out of my shack to a better place even if it was just temporary.
I gathered some of my still wearable clothes, the last bit of money I had left, which turned out to be 20 coppers and started making by way to Cobb's inn. It was getting dark but I knew the way to the inn. It was one of the cheapest inns in the city but it was still heaven compared to my shack. It seems my life was finally turning for the better, and that I don't have to go back to stealing and doing odd jobs to continue living.
I arrived in front of Cobb's inn and entered through its worn out old looking door. It was already dark outside and the inside was poorly lit. There were only 2 or 3 men sitting on the table and innkeeper sitting lazily at behind his counter. I walked up to him but he totally ignored me.
"I am looking for Cleo"
"Upstairs, second door on the right"
That was a really short conversation. I decided I don't have to care about it and started walking up to the door. I knocked on the door when I arrived in front of the door. Cleo opened the door.
"Hey Ren, you are here! Come in. Turek is still not here. I wonder if he was able to leave his place."
I enter through the door with my pack and said "He should be fine. Peter's wife didn't like him anyway and should be happy now that he is leaving. He might be just saying his goodbyes."
Cleo seemed to have changed clothes. Since this morning, I had only seen her wear rough looking clothes with leather armor.
"I thought you said all of your baggage was stolen by bandits?"
Celo looked down at her clothes and said "Oh.. I bought this after coming to the city. I couldn't really sleep in the clothes I was wearing today."
"Yeah, that makes sense"
It seemed like I had her known for a long time but the truth was I had met her today for the first time. I never thought I would be moving in with her on the same day I met her. It gave me a weird feeling. After all, I never had a friend before Turek and Cleo. Now I am going to be living with them.
