Can we continue to party?
Turek and I looked at each other and then looked back at Cleo.
"You were saying we should split the money three ways. Here is your 2 silver Turek and here is your 2 silver Cleo."
I decided to pretend that nothing had happened as well. Now it was Turek's turn. Lets see if he wants to continue playing this game.
"Wha… what? Oh yea, 2 silver each. Sure. Ok. Uh… I … I think I will use it to register myself as an adventurer!"
"I want register as well but I am almost out of money. I think I will register once I earn a bit more money" said Cleo.
At this point, I was in a dilemma. According to what Janet had said, I wouldn't gain a lot of experience if I partied with someone much stronger than me. Cleo seemed to fit that definition. I was not sure whether I could continue partying with her if I wanted to level up. The only way I would know if she is too strong is if she registered as an adventurer. But Cleo does not have enough money to register. So what to do now. It's not like I had a lot of money myself. In the end, I simply decided to find out the truth.
"Cleo, how about I lend you 1 silver and you use 1 of your silver to register. You can pay me back once you are ready"
"Its alright Ren, I can just register later. I am not in a lot of hurry to register anyway. I actually need the money more right now"
"Actually there is a good reason to register. Here is the thing."
I spent the next half an hour explaining the energy - experience system and levelling. Both Turek and Cleo did not know about the system and were surprised to find out that such a system exists.
After I finished my explanation about the system itself I brought up why Cleo should register. I told her how if she is much stronger than us, we will not gain any experience and won't be able to level up. While it might seem selfish of me, I did it for Turek as well. I didn't want Cleo to feel bad but I didn't have a good way to bring up this information.
"Alright I will do it right away," said Cleo with a smile. As I suspected, Cleo agreed to register right away. I felt guilty for having to do this and my guilt must have shown since Cleo tried to reassure me.
"Ren you did the right thing in telling me this. You don't have to feel bad about it. If you hadn't and I continued being ignorant, only to find out what harm I was doing to you guys, I would have felt really bad about it. So in a way, you saved me from it."
I just grunted a ok in reply but said in the end "Thanks"
"OK, let's register Turek. You go first ok?"
I handed 1 silver over to Cleo.
