Chapter 30: An Unexpected Ending
Gurd immediately started using all his strength to push down Cleo's arm. It looks like he wanted to slam her arm down on the table to try and break it. To his shock, Cleo's arm didn't even move! Even I didn't expect this result. After all these guys were ranked adventurers, even if they were only F ranked.
Gurd looked at Cleo and confusion and tried to smash her hand down again. This time the result was the same which confused him even more.
"What? How?" Gurd mutter in confusion. People around us who had been watching this whole time were also shocked to see an unranked adventurer and a girl no less was able to stop Gurd so easily.
"What's wrong? Are you ready to start?" asked Cleo. She still looked just as calm as before. When I looked at her, I finally realized that Cleo was not calm at all. She was furious! It looked like this is how she handles extreme anger. Her face was cold and her eyes were sharp. She continued to stare at Gurd who kept trying to push her hand down.
"If you don't want to start, I will start."
It looked like Gurd realized what was coming. He tried to say something and pull back but next moment Cleo slammed his hand down with some much force that I heard a cracking sound. I wasn't sure if it was the table that cracked or Gurd's hand or both.
Gurd cried out it in pain and tried to pull back but Cleo didn't let him go. No matter how hard he tried, he could pull his hand out of Cleo's grip.
"Let me go!" Gurd was in a lot of pain and seemed to be really angry.
"Why don't we try again? How about best 2 out of 3? Maybe you will do better this time. You must have been holding back the first time right?" Cleo asked Gurd calmly while still holding his hand.
"Hey bitch, let him go!" Grant tried to save his buddy by trying to hit Cleo.
I was about to jump in to stop him but Cleo stopped Grant's punch with her left arm. She then proceeded to squeeze it making Grant cry in pain as well.
"Why don't you sit down and help Gurd out? How about it? I will arm wrestle both of you at the same time. If either one of you can beat me, I will let both of you go. I will even dance naked on the street for you."
Grant wanted to say no but Cleo squeezed his palm again. He quickly sat down next to Gurd who stopped trying to pull his arm out of Cleo's grip. Maybe he thought there was still hope and that there was no way Cleo could beat both of them at the same time.
"How about I count this time. I am not sure if Grant is able to count right now." Cleo continued in a calm voice but a chill ran down my spine.
Gurd grunted a yes in reply. Cleo brought both of their arms in position and started counting.
"1… 2…. 3!"
Both Gurd and Grant started using all their strength but the result was the same! Both of them stared at Cleo in disbelief.
It seemed Cleo thought they had suffered enough and finally smiled. I could only assume that meant that she wasn't furious anymore and had decided to end this. Just as I thought, the next moment she slammed both Gurd's and Grant's arms down.
"It's time for you to fulfill the bet."
Gurd still seemed a bit reluctant so Cleo lightly squeezed his already bruised arm. Gurd cried out and quickly said "I am sorry. I am really sorry. Please let me go. We won't bother you again. Please!"
Cleo let go of both Gurd and Grant's arms. Then she got up calmly and joined us back on the table. Gurd and Grant ran out of the guild as fast as they could. After all, Cleo had only hurt their hands, their legs were fine.
"So, where were we?" she asked as if what she had done was of no importance!
