This would be about an mc in a cyberpunk~esk world but instead of ya know cyborg takes over the electric west, but instead a mc (teen preferably fits this scene) is just starting out in a world where people are born with something called [input your edgy name for purpose of demo imma call it soul steel]. Which you must defeat other people in (maybe race type situation/ may work better with fighting) to evolve how this system works is up to the author obviously, but I think it would work around a system bestowed upon the creatures of [planet name] {you could therefore experiment in the kind of creatures you want and later development stages may be easier}. Which after set tasks or enemy's defeated, the characters [soul steal] would evolve (take note I think it may give more personality leeway to your characters if this [soul steal] evolved depending on the personal personality
Example ark:
Every man/woman & child on [earth] been gifted the system which has revitalised the dying earth and detoxified the air making this system be worshiped like a god, humans then began to experiment and found that they can connect to a mental plane which seems to grow where many religious scientists believe the soul resides. Within this space everyone found a piece of malleable scrap metal (you could make a system where people have different kinds of metal reflecting their potential) many people tried to wield this scrap into the shape of weapons and objects but no matter how much they knew the creation method they never achieved it, however one car mechanic managed to create a vehicle although of extremely low quality, it was without a doubt a car (if you have knowledge of cars that may help with realism of the cars). But what shocked the world the most was the system rewarded him for being the first human to use the [reveal system name now] and thus he became [king of the track]. {skip to mc twelve years later} simple male from a rundown fishing village in the middle of a lake, cut off from the world has decided to travel to the mainland to see if his village is the only one plagued by the system which mutated the fish into unreadable metals which they had no idea the uses of. Mc sets off towards kangter the closest city on a map from {2045} when mc arrives he noticed not the malnourished over worked people her was used to seeing but a thriving city with schools hospitals police shops... wait why are the inedible metal fish here and so pricey? Wait why are there so many strange metal creatures roaming the streets, wait people are being eaten by them
