Chapter 46: Chapter 45 - Genjutsu

Ernie allowed Kazue to stay in the village over the next four days. Kazue didn't cause any trouble but he also did not get close to anyone either. Instead, he observed the villagers and sometimes left the village.

Ernie didn't let him wander around freely and had Ryo tail him from afar. There wasn't much to note, as Kazue just seemed to walk aimlessly throughout the forest.

Was he searching for something? Ernie didn't know.

Today, Kazue met Ernie again.

"I have come to a decision…"

Kazue started out.

Ernie already figured the reason Kazue was approaching him was due to this, so he was fully prepared to have his condition accepted or rejected.

"I'm all ears."

Ernie told Kazue with a smile on his face.

"I can convince my clansmen to accept your conditions but we will be able to leave whenever we see fit."

Ernie thought about his condition for a moment and accepted.

"As long as it's not within the time you are serving me, I don't care if you leave or not. Anyone is free to come and go."

Ernie told him.

"That means we can't be hunted down later on and we mind our own business. I don't want my clansmen to live in fear."

"Like I said, as long as you don't leave within the time of you serving me, I don't care. You can leave however you like and I won't bother you much. That is to say, as long as you do not do anything to harm the people of this village."

Kazue nodded and Ernie got up from his seat as he went over to his main desk and grabbed a sheet of paper. He slid the paper to Kazue.

"What is this?"

"A contract, read it and sign once you've understood the terms. Go against any of the terms and you'll have to pay for it."

Kazue looked down at the contract and read it multiple times. The terms themselves were pretty simple, and could easily be met. As for the payment Ernie was talking about, it was exactly that. A payment.

If they did anything that went against the terms set, they would need to pay a massive fee. If they did anything extreme such as killing one of the villagers, then they would face a harsher punishment, which would be determined by a council.

For Kazue, this was good as it gave him a clear understanding of his limits. Best thing of all is it didn't restrict him or his clansmen in any way.

Kazue signed the contract and passed it back to Ernie.

Ernie smiled.

"Welcome to the village."

Kazne smiled and nodded.

"Once your clansmen are here and settled, I would like to meet them all. Also, we will need to gauge your abilities."

Kazue grinned.

"I can show you now if you'd like."

Ernie was pretty interested and agreed.

Kazue's eyes turned reddish in color along with a purple line in the center of his iris. A stream of blood flowed from his eyes as he locked eyes with Ernie.

Ernie's world changed as he was standing on an open plain with a red sky. The world rotated quickly a few times.

Touching himself, Ernie was impressed. It definitely felt real.

Two giant red eyes that were exactly the same as Kazue's appeared in the sky.

Ernie activated his Reitgan, and he appeared right back in the room with Kazue.

Kazue noticed that Ernie was no longer trapped in his genjutsu and was surprised. It was hard for a person to break free, especially from members of his clan.

Noticing the change in Ernie's eyes, he assumed they had something to do with it.

"Not bad."

Ernie commented as his eyes returned to normal.

"I've never seen someone break free so quickly."

"There's a first time for everything."

Over three years, Ernie's understanding of his Reitgan grew deep. Around two years ago he encountered his first genjutsu user, and did indeed struggle for a bit. But it didn't take him long to realize that his Reitgan seemed to negate the effects of genjutsu.

"I will see you soon."

Kazue mentioned as he left.

He did not give Ernie much time to explain the name or composition of the group he would establish. But, that can be explained later on once he returned to the village.

"I think I should do a little traveling. I'm curious about the land of lightning, but also the land of fire is where most of the action is. Considering both Senju and Uchiha clan are located there."

Ernie started to talk to himself.

He had his options open. There was no need for him to stay in the village all the time as they already had a clear plan and outline for the village. As long as it was followed, the process should be fast.

For him, it was always good to have allies in other places. It would not only open up trade, but allow him ways to gather information easier. The sad thing was, allies always seemed to drag people into their mess.

He wasn't even thinking of how his actions were changing the world, he was more interested in completing his quest. One of his top priorities was to finish the second village founding quest.

It actually seemed pretty difficult, but he didn't know if it was or not.

[Village Founding Pt. 2]

[Village's population reaches 2000.]

[Village has 5 allies.]

[User begins the era of shinobi villages.]

Ernie had a long way to go to finish that quest, but he didn't think it would be too difficult. The reason it was hard to complete now was due to the fact they were surrounded by no other clan. In the land of earth, he'd be able to complete it within the next few years. But now, things have changed.

He didn't even really understand the last part, but he thought it meant having his village gain fame. Afterall, monkey see, monkey do. When the other shinobi in the world saw his creation they would soon follow after.

Still, he needed to worry about his population growth.

There were other quest he had to finish, but those could be finished within a year as long as he progressed. His clan building quest would take a while, afterall he needed children.
