Chapter 9: 9. Gar and the Frozen Beauty

Gar looked to Kalyssa puzzled. She was still shaking and it looked like she was going to just turn and run as far as possible. But she took a deep breath and went up the stairs saying. "Im going to get some answers."

They ascended the stairs with the group catching up to them. Phantom was in the back telling them of the chest he found in the study and how a mysterious gem appeared inside the palm of his hand. And Emrad was attempting to speak with his brother, Thordak. But Thordak was being unresponsive. Ash was scratching something in his book.

They reached the top and came upon a door. The man motioned for them to open the door. Kalyssa, without losing sight of him, opened the door revealing a bedchamber.

The room was covered with frost and filled with beautiful paintings. Even the darkest of them was still equally as beautiful. Around the room it was filled with puppets. There was a pedestal in between them and the other side of the room. On this pedestal was a skull of an orc that bore a red gem in its forehead. In the middle of the back wall was a canopy bed draped with black silk. And on the bed laid a woman in silky purple like grey dress and frost covered most of her facial features.

"A great power was done in this room. I can still feel the remains of the casting in the air." Ash spoke from behind. His eyes closed to concentrate and his hand outstretched as if he was playing with the invisible threads surrounding them.

Phantom put his hand out and started to move it side to side. "I dont feel anything but cold air." Ash then said. "Close your eyes and open your mind." Phantom closed his eyes and tried to feel the magic in the air again. Emrad then quickly takes a string from his pocket and held it in front of Phantom. Phantom's finger started to touch the string and he started to get excited. "I feel it!"

Everyone started to chuckle and Phantom asked. "What is everyone laughing about?" He opened his eyes and seen the string hanging from Emrad's hand. "Son of a bitch!" He started to grab the string but Emrad retreated and held the string. Phantom was shorter and he tried jumping at the string.

As everyone was calming Phantom Gar approached the side of the bed and studied the woman laying there. "Kah.... its girl!" Gar said as he grabbed a chair and slid it over with all his little might. He then pulled himself onto it and leaned over the bed. The girls hands were crossed her chest and they held a strange grey gem. Gar stared into the gem and he could see something within it. He seen the face of a girl. Gar looked closer and could see she was sleeping in the gem in a fetal position.

A voice came through and it was Kayana. "Love, it is Aurai." Gar eyes went wide and reached for the womans hand and move it. Something in his mind told him to retreat and try another way but it was too late. His hand touched hers and her skin started to turn from pale to a peachy life color. It slowly climbed her skin and melted the frost as it continued to her face.

Still oblivious to what was happening Gar reach for the gem and as he got ahold of it. Her hand snatched up his arm. Not letting go of the gem. He tugged on arm and tried to move away while his goblin like squeak was coming from him. He looked at the woman face and her eyes were glaring at him. She sat up still holding him and swung her legs off the bed.

Kalyssa tried to step up to help Gar. But Alannah held out a hand to her and it started to summon up a black like mist. Kalyssa stopped and said with a small panic in her voice. "Dont hurt him. Please."

Alannah giggled evilly and said. "This creature...." she looked to Gar closer and her smile faded. Now looking so blank that it terrified Gar. She reached for his hand and twisted it. As Gar squealed in pain, his grip on the gem came loose and she took it. She brought it in front of her and spoke. "So you've come to take the gem. 'One from the swamp come taketh thy Wind!' Ha!"

Gar frozen with fear. Dangled from her strong grasp. This is where he'd die. Not in his swamp. Not in cave. At this point he wished to have been given another mission from the goblin king.

"You will not perish my love. For i am nearby. She talks up a big game but she will not follow through. Kalyssa, Alannah, and we goddesses are tied to you. Our future shows your presence." Gar blinked. This voice was different and smooth like a breeze blowing throughout the swamp on a calm spring morning.

Gar felt the need to touch the gem again. He then slowly reach towards the gem. As he did a slender ghost like hand came from the gem. "Aurai..." he whispered.

Before his hand could catch the other. Alannah's hand flared with dark power and she slammed it against his small chest.

"No!" Kalyssa yelled as Emrad and Ash held her back. "She is killing him!"

"Thats enough Alannah."
