Chapter 6: Questions and Answers
When I first walket out of Lars apartment the first thing I saw is more piping covering the walls. We are now in what looks like to be a long hallway with a bunch of other doors of varrying heights spaced out .
"Those are other other peoples residents" Lars tells me as he must have seen me eyeing the doors.
"Come on lets go" Practically pushing me, we begin walking to what Lars is calling a "Pillar Store"
As we walk I ask a few questions that have bothering me. "Hey, what are Pillars and why are we going shopping for them, also...." I pause as I look down at my feet trying to find the right words. "Why are you helping me, I mean I don't even know you and I don't see what you have to gain out of it."
Lars not even turning to look at me responds. "First of all we do know each other, we told each other our names after all and second I received a Wave Quest to help you, there is no way in hell I am going to disregard a Wave quest."
There it is again, the word quest came up again. Thinking of what a quest could be I think back to the video games I played back on earth, quests there represented a task and a reward. Could mean something different here though.
"What is a quest?" I ask as we finally turn a corner.
"What kind of question is that? A quest is a quest. You receive a job and you get paid for doing said job. Common knowledge" he looks at me "Well at least for normal people"
I ignore his last remark and think it that makes sense but who would put forward a quest to help me. I can't imagine anyone here knowing me and even if another earthling that I did happen to know also came here with me I doubt they would have put forward something as bizarre as a quest. Also he said it was something called a Wave quest I wonder what that means.
"You said you received something called a Wave quest though, what does that mean? Also do you know if other people who came from earth also happened to end up on this planet?"
In response to my question he asks a question himself. "Where the hell did you come from anyway that you don't know stuff that even children know."
Before I even respond he continues "Don't just say earth, I mean start from the beginning, how did you end up here first of all."
As I followed Lars through the winding corridors I proceed to tell him the story of where I came from and what happened to me the last couple of days.
While I am talking Lars's expression changes multiple times to wonder, excitement and even a little bit of fear.
After I finish telling my story Lars looks at me with an incrdulous expression. He suddenly stops walking and turns to me in a serious tone of voice that he has never spoken to me before in.
"Never let anyone know about anything you just told me, seriously it would just be asking for trouble." He takes another moment to ponder. "If anyone asks you where you are from or who are you, tell them you are from a dead planet and that you are my cousin and you are planning on studying at one of the acadamies here. If i'll try to stick with you until you at least know basic concepts, but if someone asks you why you don't know something just tell them again you are from a dead planet."
I stare back at him, what he said just raises more questions. So many questions.
He turns back around and contiunues to walk at a slightly brisker pace. I think back to what he said and decide to get the most imperative questions out of the way first.
"What is a Wave quest and please actually answer me this time?"
Lars replies "A wave quest is a quest issured straight from the Central Wave, they are just like normal quests however there is a superstition that says if you decline a wave quest it brings bad luck. A superstition I personally believe in"
"Well what is the Central wave I ask?" I have heard the term Central Wave before, back when I was still on earth but I don't really know what it is.
Lars answers rather unenthusiatically "The Central Wave is a device under the control of the council. Primodial Tech apparently, it alone controlls the flow and distribution of all mana in the universe. It is speculated that it is so powerful that it can even calculate the future and react accordingly to it. The main purpose and design of it however is to slow the incursion of the eldritch. Hell the main reason the council is in power is because they have some controll over the damn thing, no matter how small it may be."
That is quite a lot to take in and proccess. It raises so many more questions but I really have to know "Did anyone else from earth come here, I mean there was almost eight billion of us?"
Shaking his head he replies "Nah,proobably not. If anybody else from your world did somehow end up here they would have had to go through a similar process as you. There is no way that two people from the same planet that was just introduced to mana got lucky enough to go to the special store and arrive on the same planet. The chances are astronomically low. My guess is that most of your planet was relocated to a frontier planet or something. Besides how would you even attempt to find anybody else that came from earth across the entirety of the planet."
Thinking in my head that it would be actually be quite easy to find someone who came from the same place as I do. I look at Lars walking in front of me, afterall I just need to find the people who look similar to me and I'd be golden.
I wonder if Lars is a psychic as he seemed to sense my gaze on him turned his head to me. Almost as if he could sense what I was thinking he burst out laughing. "Are you seriously thinking that you could find people from your planet just based off looking at them" tears begin to well in his eyes as we had to pause so he could catch his breath from laughing too much.
"Listen Axel, let me get this straight. I am the first person you have seen since your planet was introduced mana right?" I nod at his question. I haven't even seen anyone else for that matter. "Well let me tell you, your appearance isn't exactly unique. There are tons of other people who look just like you, there is no chance of you being able to tell if someone came from you planet based off looking at them"
I frown and as I was about to retort he interupts saying "Alright were here" In front of us is a door similar ot all the other doors we have came across thus far except for the fact that it is about twice as large and that I can hear a loud comotion on the other side of it.
Walking up Lars pulls the lever that opens the door and walks through it motioning for me to follow. What I see is something completley out of this world, litterally.

Free_memes Hey people, your author here. I know that there isn't many people reading at this point in time. But just a reminder that I am open to criticism and will strive to make the story at least somewhat enjoyable.
Also sorry for the chapter being somewhat of an info dump. There is just a lot of information that needs to be told and I don't really know how to go about doing it in a natural way.
