Chapter 5: Lars
"Oh you finally got it huh" he responds. "My name is Lars.... can I have yours your name that is?" Before I even respond he quickly follows up with "That was what I was asking you before you turned on auto translate, I have just never met somebody with that option turned off so I was a bit stumped."
"Uhh my name is Axel, its n-nice to meet you"
I bit my tongue and stutter by accident in my nervousness but Lars doesn't seem to notice or care.
"Nice to meetcha as well, sorry I had to chain up, you were delirious from your temporal space travel and a bit too unstable for me to trust that you wouldn't just up and disappear. Ill go and get the key for it right now."
Lars gets up and leaves the room for a couple of seconds before returning with a key. Using the key he unlocks the shackle causing the chain to fall on the bed with a dull thud. After unlocking the shackle he stands up and dusts off his hands before asking me "Can you stand, or at least sit up?"
I tried earlier to sit up but that ended in failure but I decide to go ahead and give it another try. I sit up and my abdomen once again stings but not nearly as bad as it was earlier, so I was able to do so successfully.
Now that I was sitting up I asked the question that has been nagging on me since I woke up. "Where are we and what are you?"
Scratching his cheek he responds "Well it's kinda rude to ask what you are to someone but whatever, my race name is Tensal if that is what you mean. To your other question I believe we are somewhere between Kas Fire and Kas Central right about now."
I don't know either of those places but I can kind of piece together the information I have. Just to be sure however I ask "We are not on Earth are we?"
"I am not really sure what you mean, Earth is an element related to the ground beneath you so if that is what you mean than yeah we are, but I have a feeling that is not what you are referring to."
"No I am talking about the planet Earth."
He raises an eyebrow " To name a planet after one of the prime elements is a pretty arrogant thing to do but whatever" Lars shrugs and continues "No we are on Kas Primus, a tier two desert planet."
My mind goes blank. I am really not at earth anymore huh... Just yesterday I was riding on the sand dunes with Johnny and now i'm on another planet. Speaking of which.
"How did I get here anyway. I mean from one planet to another?"
Rubbing the back of his head he responds "You really don't know anything do you, I never thought I would ever see anybody this ignorant about how the universe works besides infants but there is a first for everything I guess. Well I guess I understand why I was given the quest now." He says the last sentence with a sigh but immediately perks back up.
"Alright get up we are going for a walk."
I hesitatingly speak "But you didn't even answer my question and what was that you said about a quest?"
He just ignores me and grabs me by my arm to get me out of the bed. I just now realize I am wearing something resembling a tunic made of a soft tan material that was pleasant to the touch. After nearly falling out of the bed after being pulled by my arm, I balance myself to stand on my own.
My body feels sore but otherwise not as bad as I thought I would feel. Shakily standing there, Lars looks me over before nodding to himself.
"Alright first off lets go get you a pillar, you can ask any questions you have on the way there"
He starts off toward the door, opening it then walking out, leaving me standing there stunned. After a few moments he pops his head back through the crack of the door and practically yells at me
"Hurry up we don't have all day!"
Finally waking me from my stupor I walk toward the door and open it to see what is on the other side. It is a fairly small room reminiscent of a den or a living room. I see what resembles a refrigerator and a few other appliances I can only guess what they do. There are a couple of other doors spread out throughout the room. One such door has a frame on it with the drawing of a couple of stick figure like "people" holding hands.
"Those are my siblings rooms they are off limits, especially that room." He points to the room with the frame hanging on it. "The room you were staying in is the guest room. It doesn't get much use but lucky we had it or you would have been out of luck."
I stand there still in a daze looking around before Lars once again urges me toward the largest door in the room.
"Hey Lars I heard you talking with someone when I first woke up, who was that?"
"Oh that was just my big brother, we were just arguing about..." Lars looks me up and down "Something. You don't need to worry about that you won't be seeing him too much anyway. The guy is stick in the mud and is no fun to be around anyway" he gets a smirk on his face "Besides everyone always says that i'm the cool brother out of the two of us, so you should just stick with me".
He puts his arm around my neck and impatiently tells me once again "While we are out pillar shopping you can ask me any and all questions you have"
It is probably naive to think I should trust the first person I met on this new world, not even including the fact this same person had me chained to a bed, but I feel like I can trust him.
Nodding my head I walk toward the largest door in the room and take my first steps in this new world.
