Chapter 3: Perks for being Deported

Sinking into a chasm of thougtlessness I let myself go. It is oddly peaceful just floating there in the deep dark reccesses of your mind. However all good things come to an end. After god know how long of me slumbering aimlessly I begin to stir. Cracks of light shine through my eyelids forcing me awake.

Now awake I find myself in a white room. The room is almost completely barren except for a single chair sitting in the center. Glancing around for anything else that may catch my eye, I find nothing. No color, No furniture, absolutely nothing save for the chair in the center. I notice that there is not even any dust or shoe prints in the room which struck me as odd because a room as sterile looking as this should have at least some signs of use.

Honestly I would have thought by now I would be freaking out.

But I'm not

I still feel slightly lethargic and my mind is operating slowly. Maybe I have yet to process what is going on but I digress. Yawning loudly I slap myself in the face to try to jolt some pep into my body. This achieved nothing except for making my face hurt slightly.

Taking one more glance around the room just to make sure I didn't miss anything I make my way over to the chair arrogantly taking the center spot in the room. Just a normal chair. It was white in color making it almost blend in with the surrounding room but other than that there was noting particularly special about it.

Sighing to myself knowing that whatever sent me here probably wants me to sit, I accept my fate. Carelessly flopping down onto the chair I notice that it is extremely soft and comfortable.

"Damn, this is nice" I mutter to myself as I sink into the upholstery I find myself wanting to go back to sleep. That thought is dashed away when a bright golden box appears in front of my face.

[ Due to overlow of mana and according to Central Wave internal programing reparations are in order

I subconciously reached my finger up and poked the click here portion of the golden box and another notification popped up.

STATUS EFFECTS VISIBLE: Mental Resistance, Damage Impervious , Curse nullification, Buff nullification

"So this is kind of like a video game huh" I muse. "Except in video games there are numbers denoting things like strength, agility, willpower and things of that nature. I wonder why it's not like that here"

Scratching the non existent stubble on my face I read and re-read my Status. After the whole being held down against your will ordeal I am taking this calmer than I ever would have thought I would.

Maybe it has something to do with the status effect Mental Resistance but I have no idea how to know for sure.

Lightly chuckling to myself at the absurdity of this whole situation I once again re-focus on the task at hand. It says here on the notification that I am suppose to choose "Purchasables" for my Soul boundary.

"In my status my Soul boundary has nine empty spaces underneath of it so I guess that that is the amount I can purchase... probably... still kinda confused here" I talk to myself trying to make sense of everything.

I take a deep breath and click on the CLICK HERE button next to the Soul boundary portion of my status. What follows is an incoprehensibley long list of items, perks, body modifications, and even skills.

-STONE SKIN/ BODY MOD (cost 2 space)

-REFINED GLASS BOW/ ITEM (cost 1 space)

-SHATTERED ASTRAL BREATHING TECHNIQUE/ SKILL (cost 5 spaces)

The list goes on and on. While I was in awe at the expansive list of things to buy, a small timer pops into existence in the corner of my vision.

5:00

4:59

4:58

I don't know what that timer means but I have a few guesses. The most probable is that my shopping experience will come to an end when it hits zero.

"Fuck" I curse loudly as I scrambled through the expansive list.

My intial plan to take my sweet time perusing through the tens of thousands of entries went straight out the meataphorical window as I try to formulate anything that could vaguely resemble a plan during the five minute countdown.

I begin with selecting an item that costs four spaces and note that my Soul boundary decreased by four. I deselect the item and my remaing amount shoots back up to nine. Knowing what the costs mean in relation to my soul boundary I now had something to go off of.

Many of the stronger sounding purchasables often had more of a cost associated with them. So I had a choice to make, Either I would choose one or two big purchases or I would choose four or five little purchases.

I thought hard about which I should choose when suddenly as I was scrolling through the list a name shimmering in cold catches my eye. I select it using up five spaces in the proccess I select my remaing purchasable. Thinking I did the best I could I watch as the timer hits zero and my vision once again fades to black.

I know what I am choosing for seven of the nine available spaces in the space boundary. If anyone reads this chapter before I make a decision and suggests something cool, I will probably just go along with it.
