Chapter 108 - Secretly Caring Husband
"Hi Miss Lissy!"
After returning to Meridian this is the first time that Lissy has met her former assistant Dindin. She now work with the new Sales Director.
"Hi Dindin! How are you?"
"I am good I am sorry that I only get to formally greet you today."
"It's fine! I understand I heard your Boss is quite busy."
"He is, just as workaholic as you. It's good that you are with strategy department, you wouldn't have to be stressed with all the client meetings and travel. Especially that your baby bump is already this big."
"I know, I didn't realize I can be this heavy when pregnant. My feet are almost swollen every night."
"No wonder Mr. Connor recommended that you be assigned to strategic planning. "
"Did he? I thought I made it through my abilities." She purposely looked unhappy.
"Oops sorry I think I spilled something. I will keep my mouth shut. But come to think of it even if it was me, I wouldn't want my pregnant wife to be exhausted."
"I hope my performance is not influenced by him. I wish people will not talk about personal relationships."
She successfully established how professional she is without clearing that Tim is not related to her. This is her usual lines when she returned. Who knows... in the end she could be the wife he is referring to.
Lissy pretended to feel so down, she bid Dindin goodbye. Inside, her heart is racing. Tim still cares. The more that she thinks the wife is non existent.
Today a plan suddenly came up in her mind. She would like to know how far can she still pull Tim towards her.
Sydney.
Jenna: Hey! When are you coming over?
Pam: Jan 31, why?
Jenna: Are you serious? Are you not coming at least 3 or more days before my wedding?
Pam: You only told me to be present Feb 2! I don't have much time to go on leave.
Jenna: Well if you don't have plans of looking after your husband that Ex is probably clawing at him and use the baby bun.
Pam decided to call Jenna.
"What is this all about?" Pam is a little irritated with threat-like message. She knows about Lissy.
"Well Mark told me that girl has been working back in Meridian and it seems that she is trying to hide his pregnancy out of wedlock by pretending to be Tim's wife!"
"It was not like that! The agreement is to keep mum about it. It's like helping her not to be the center of gossips being single mom. You know it must be tough on her."
"Pam... I must warn you, people in their company are not gossiping because they really think she is the wife. There were group chats that ships their 'love team'. By not correcting the understanding, it becomes the truth. Later on you will be crucified as the 3rd party!"
She did come in between but she was not a third party. "Should I post the timeline of our love story to correct this? It was full of sarcasm. "I only care about the truth between Tim and Me."
"Alright if you say so! I am just giving you a friendly warning. That lady could be a threat and the two of you could be treating her lightly!"
Jenna is just concerned about Pam and Tim. She trusts the two of them but not Lissy. "Sis I only hope you can come earlier than 31st please...."
"Okay how about 30?"
Jenna was speechless, " whatever! I don't need you to help before the wedding just do your part as witness then!"
Pam ended the call laughing at Jenna. She did not tell her that she will be flying on 28th and should arriving by early morning of the 29th which is a Thursday. She filed for 3 days leave and requested to work from satellite office for 4 days before going back to Sydney. Therefore she spends the whole week back home.
In the past days, Lissy had the opportunity to work with NextGen planning team in a collaboration to secure a deal in Thailand. Lissy ensured that the meeting would be in NextGen floors and conference room so she can have a chance to be near Tim.
There is a Senior Analyst that became Lissy's right hand whom she shares some of personal thoughts. She has been one of those active members of the group chat who give 'privilege' information.
In one meeting, when it adjourned, Lissy casually drop a casual announcement, "You guys go ahead first, I am dropping by someone."
It has been sort of an unwritten rule not to name drop Tim. To the attendees it connotes they she is dropping by to discuss private matters with Tim.
"Of course there is no policy preventing wife to check on her husband." One of the senior members of the group joked.
Lissy knitted her brows and brushed off the idea, "the person I am going to is more important."
In a way she is telling them that whoever they think she is visiting is not her husband though this person is someone she is still targeting to be her husband.
"I'll wait for you here Lissy." Her reliable team member just said.
"It may take a little while." To be honest she is not sure whether Tim will entertain her so she said this to discourage the reliable side kick to wait and at the same time she could wait for Tim outside his office.
"It's fine I'm checking mails on my mobile." In reality the sidekick want to take a juicy picture to share about the elusive couple. They appeared to become too private after their wedding. As there were people in the organization that admire their tandem, they were treated like office celebrities.
God must have heard Lissy's prayer. She was able to enter his room without much explaining. She wore a flowing maternity dress in beige with black ribbon, she looks both pretty and cute.
"Hey!"
"Hi! What's up? You look good in that maternity dress."
Tim is in a good mood. Earlier he had a chat with Pam who confirmed that she is arranging for her flights.
"You seem to be in a good mood!"
He looked at her with a smile and said, "sort of!"
They spoke for a good 5 minutes, she knew this timing is perfect to show off in the office. With his good mood he will definitely act nice towards him.
"I have to excuse myself, I have disturbed you enough with a simple hi." She stood up half way the room, she stopped holding on to her lower abdomen.
She exclaimed, "OMG!"
"Why?"
"I think I am having cramps."
Tim rushed towards her as she tried to get out of the room stiff and limping on one side. She is almost outside.
"You better arrange your meetings in your floor. I'll tell the people here."
"No it's fine, pregnant women tend to have this cramps."
"Do you want to take a rest first?"
She sighed, "I'll just stay here I don't think I can..."
Before she could finish, she was lifted by Tim and carefully placed her on guest chair. This act has been witnessed by people in the floor and just as expected the reliable sidekick snapped on that moment.
