Chapter 88: Chapter 88 – Just Date Her
Lissy is aware that her number is stored as Honey in Tim's phone. Therefore this 'My Queen'… is she the one he got married with? Who knows it could be a plot to make her jealous, she needs to stand strong. She has always been the reserved type in Tim's eyes. It will be his loss not to be able to keep a 'good woman' like her.
The glint of surprise in her eyes did not escape Tim. "I am sorry I have to take this call, I cannot send you out. Take care." He still tried so hard to be a gentleman and let Lissy save her face.
With a smile on her face, "no worries Tim, thank you. You take care too." She cannot lose herself in front of him. She is still the 'precious Lissy', her value is worthy of any outstanding man out there, this is her mindset.
Lissy turned around and walked steadily towards the door, Tim did not even wait for her to completely be out when he answered the call. Therefore, she walked slowly and pretended to check on her mobile.
"Hey, how are you?" He said in gentle voice. "I am still in the office, we can video call later or maybe tomorrow morning it's a bit late there right?"
Lissy is able to hear the short conversation that Tim had. Seems like the woman on the phone is checking on him and probably on a different timezone. She is curious therefore who is that woman on the Instagram post, she is not a foreigner. Could be one of those 'past time' ladies. She needs to be careful in her plans, there is little room for failure.
Few days ago, during the family Dinner of Lissy with Li Bin's Family.
In a posh restaurant in Shanghai, Li Bin and Lissy arrived next from his parents and middle sister who were seated already in a private room. It is a traditional Chinese set up elegantly decorated restaurant. There is a rotating table where food will later on be served.
"Bin Er you are here." The doting tone of the mother could not be denied.
"Ma, Pa I am sorry were came later than you. I had a meeting that went over time before going here." In reality Bin took a little more time waiting for Lissy. Unknown to him Lissy tried several clothes on before deciding which one to wear.
Bin introduced Lissy to his parents and elder sister. Though the welcome greetings lack the warmth, Lissy thought this is probably how the aristocrats are.
"Where is Brother Jun?"
"He is arriving a little late, get yourself seated."
Lissy was no longer surprised that everyone know how to speak English in the family after all their family are well traveled and they are this big in Shanghai. However, from time to time they speak in Mandarin.
When the food was served as courtesy Lissy let the elders and family members have their food first. Li Bin noticed that she has not been getting food yet. To him there is no need to be too mindful, she is not Chinese anyway, so he has been putting food to her plate.
The mother spoke in Chinese, "you must like her a lot Bin Er, she has hands take care of your meal." She then spoke in English, "I hope the dishes would be to your liking Lissy."
"Thank you Mrs. Li!" She addressed her formally as she was introduced as someone that Li Bin is dating. To Lissy's mind she is soon to be his girlfriend and probably his wife.
"It's good she knows how to address me properly." The mother once again spoke in Chinese looking at the elder sister.
Li Bin was ignoring them to avoid Lissy from getting any suspicions of what his family is saying.
The elder sister joined in her comment, "That should be the case Ma, she will never be part of the family. A fine Chinese lady is still preferred right?"
This was said in Mandarin and the Mom laugh as well. Mid way the elder brother joined who happened to be the current CEO of the parent company of Xin Technologies. He just gave Lissy a good smile, nothing else.
As they are in China, Lissy could not complain that they talk in Mandarin once in a while. In some culture talking in local language with a guest is considered rude. The family from what she can see did not show anything bad towards her except the elder sister who showed hostility to her consistently since they first met. She kept a straight face looking at Lissy's face. Of the family members, she is the only one showing hostility openly.
"Lissy do you have any post graduate course?" The elder sister started to make some conversation while they eat.
"I did not took a post graduate course," Lissy smiled sweetly before continuing. "After completing my marketing degree from National University, I started to work."
"Oh…where is this National University?"
"It's one of the top universities in my country."
The elders sister nodded her head, it was not clear what this gesture means however when the follow up question is asked, Lissy knew she is trying to measure her in terms of background and status.
"So what does your family do back home for a living?"
"Both my parents worked as government employee at the City hall, however they are both retired already. We live a simple life"
The elder sister slightly raised her brow, "does simple life includes wearing a Valentino shoes and carrying a Chanel bag?"
"Sis let's have a good meal please." Li Bin could no longer resist answering back for Lissy. He said this lovingly to her elders sister. He knew she dotes on him too. Their family is never like this. They don't really show off despite their wealth and power in the city. He is not sure where the hostility is coming from. Lissy is a nice lady.
Lissy could only grit her teeth and give a smile. She managed to answer politely, "I don't see anything wrong with what she said Li Bin. Girls would love clothes, shoes and bags. I worked hard to buy them." Honestly her bag was a gift from Tim while the shoes is something she painstakingly bought using her credit card on 6 months installment. As someone who is in sales and job that requires facing clients, it does leave a good impression.
Lissy and Li Bin left the dinner with smiles on their faces. The mom even hugged Lissy which she thought was a plus points. Unknown to her, before they left the word she said to Li Bin in Mandarin warns her son to just date her.
