Chapter 43: Shirou vs Archer part-1

"An ideal is only an ideal after all. As long as

you embrace that ideal, the friction with reality will continue to increase. So you will someday face reality and will have to pay the price for your compromises."

-EMIYA, Archer

---------------------------------------------------------

The Sheild of Gods dispersed into golden mo back into the treasury.

Archer: "I never thought that I would get my wish fulfilled here."

Everyone else there were confused but Shirou could sense a weird connection between him and the Heroic Spirit.

Archer: "You can sense it too, can't you.", he said looking at Shirou.

Izayoi: "What are you talking about?"

Everyone had the same question as Izayoi. Shirou walked forward towards Archer and asked, "Who are you?"

Archer: "Look at the mirror and you'll find out who I am."

Shirou: "You___are?"

Archer: "I am the Counter Guardian known as Shirou Emiya."

Everyone there including Izayoi and Gil were Shocked by this revelation.

Shirou: "But_h-how?"

Archer: "I am your miserable future, because of your stupid decisions.", Saying this he materialized his signature twin swords, Kanshou and Bakuya.

Gil: "It's those Noble phantasms.", He instantly recognized the identities of the twin swords.

Izayoi: "Are they Ex rank or what?"

Gil: "No they aren't that powerful but they have an interesting story behind them. Gān Jiàng and Mò Yé are "married" twin swords representing Yin and Yang, crafted by the blacksmith Gān Jiàng of Wu during the Spring and Autumn Period of China. They were crafted more for the sake of crafting, as if questioning the meaning of the swordsmith, than for any real idea behind their creation. They were created without vanity, and lack a sense of purpose found in other swords. They contain no fighting spirit to defeat others nor a competitive spirit to beat other weapons, and they contain neither the desire to be famous nor the faith to accomplish great deeds.

Upon receiving orders from the King of Wu to forge an imperial sword, Gān Jiàng could not think of ways to forge swords that fit such orders. While he was extremely frustrated and desperate, his wife, Mò Yé, upon seeing this situation, decided to gamble her own life. The sacrificing of human lives is absolutely necessary in order to forge items reaching the realm of Gods, so Mò Yé hurled herself into the furnace in front of the husband she loved and used her own life to help the Essence of Five Mountains and the Metal of Six Heroes meld. Gan Jiàng forged the two swords in grief. He kept the Yang sword, named "Gān Jiàng", and he only handed over the Yin Sword, "Mò Yé", to the king when it came time to present them. The king was furious upon discovering the deception, and he had Gān Jiàng killed.

Their quality and ability as swords are high due to being made with the best materials and human sacrifice, and they have shamanistic and ritual aspects as enchanted weapons. The quality of the grips is more important in the practical use of the swords than the ornamental value, and they are noted as being quite big and heavy. They are identical in shape with the only difference being their colour. Kanshou (Gān Jiàng), the black Yang sword, is covered in a hexagonal pattern, and Bakuya (Mò Yé), the white Yin sword, has less of the shine of polished metal in its ore than it has the haze of a cloud. While the story of their creation has survived into the modern-day, there is no mention of what kind of swords they actually were, and even their shape is a mystery. The assumption is that they were cast swords, as was common in their time period. The only known description of the swords simply says that Kanshou had a black tortoiseshell pattern and Bakuya had a white wave pattern."

Izayoi: "Damn!"

.....

Archer was shocked upon seeing Gil, "Gilgamesh."

Gil: "You know me?"

Archer looked at everyone there, "It seems I am in a different timeline. Anyways prepare to die Emiya Shirou."

Shirou: "W-Why do want to kill me? and how did you become a Counter Guardian."

Counter Guardian, also called the Protectors of Balance is a broad classification of Heroic Spirits made up of heroes who are not worshipped, utilized as a mindless Counter Force. Other Heroic Spirits have a high Divinity and act as existences closer to the planet than humanity, so they are able to avoid being drafted by the Counter Force. Normal circumstances are those where the Counter Force empowers a "normal person" in life to remove the factor that can trigger destruction, eventually causing them to be worshipped as heroes. Those who become heroes in such a manner are then used as Counter Guardians, the "Counter" emphasized because they act with no autonomy of their own and only appear in response to an event.

Archer: "Hmmm, you all seem surprised, some of you may be smart enough to figure out how I am here."

In fact, Gil and Izayoi understood exactly how he got here.

Heroic Spirits are beings of a higher existence, becoming categorically closer to Elementals than wraiths. Differing from how Elementals are "power" granted form using human imagination as a container, they are entirely woven from the ideals of people all throughout. They are freed from the constraints of time itself and removed from the ring of reincarnation, moved to the Throne of Heroes, a place existing outside of both the World and the time axis. The Throne of Heroes is also occasionally referred to as the Ring of Deterrence, referring to how it is mainly used by the Counter Force. Those that become closer to the planet do not mix well with people, so they fall into the categories of Divine Spirits and Elementals.

Izayoi: "Why do you want to kill Shirou?"

Archer: "Kim him___thats depends if is he going to do the same mistakes as I did."

Shirou: "What mistakes?"

Archer: "Tell me, do you want to become a Hero of Justice?"

Shirou: "Yes, I do."

Archer: "Then let's see if there is any hope left for you or not.

I am the bone of my sword

Steel is my body and fire is my blood

I have created over a thousand blades

 Unknown to Death,

 Nor known to Life.

Have withstood pain to create many weapons

Yet, those hands will never hold anything

So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works."
