Chapter 4: Entry #04
Honestly, I always home visit them and talked to their parents countless time. One of them says that 'Okay lang Ma mabait yung adviser namin, ipapasa kami nun" I don't if I should be happy or be frustrated.
I am willing to pass them BUT I am not the only teacher they have. He feels like high school is the same as grade school.
For those who are students here, let me tell you this you stay at school for 8 hours a day. You have 8 subjects a day therfore you have 8 teachers a day and that includes me the adviser. Being an adviser does not have incentives. We will have the same salary as the subject teacher. But for sure the efforts made if not doubled, it is tenfold.
Therefore if the student fail the subject the adviser can just help you asking the subject teacher what is the problem. If you can not change the problem like your absences in that particular subject. As your adviser I can not control your decision for not attending that subject. Yes, I know you might be afraid of that certain teacher. But you should man up boys. How can you move up if you can not change your attitude toward education.
Most of the time I feel conflicted of what to do. I really want to strive and help these students. I want to find my purpose to lit the fire in me.
I want to keep the flame of passion I have when I was still a student. The student who dreamed of teaching and touching the lives of the young ones.
Some of my co worker told me that they need to rest. That I should not waste my time and just dropped them. Well at some point I can not blame them. Because in the first they must not take education fot granted.
May they realize the importance of education in the cruel reality of the society that we have today.
May they realize the education that they neglect now, will only give them the regrets for not taking it seriously.
May they realize the education that they forsake is for their own future.
