Chapter 9: Something Different

As she calmly watched the boys silhouette leave she thought back to all the different things she saw today and some of the emotions she felt. To sum it up in one word though, it was different. Everything the boy did went against what she considered the norm in the tens of years she'd been in this forest. So for her it was a pleasant surprise and something new and intriguing to witness besides the same old, same old.

"Hopefully he'll come back again and allow me to see more interesting things."

A hissing sound escaped her throat as she was wished for more entertainment and change to come her way. She'd been in this forest for almost 30 years now starting from when she was born until this point. Never once did she leave and whether that was her conscious decision or the fear of the unknown or the thought never crossed her mind before she didn't exactly know but what she did know was that this forest was a boring and dull place.

In the first couple years after she was born she didn't have much strength at the time and could only hide and avoid areas that had dangerous Astral Beasts there. The more time went on though the stronger she got at an increasing rate and the more intelligent she got until eventually she was unbeatable in the forest she called home. 10 years had past to get her to this point and she was around 15 years old when she could do whatever she wanted in the forest area. But the thought of leaving still never crossed her mind.

Eventually though she stopped thinking about that and just lived her life. Dull, boring, black and white her days were filled with emptiness. There was nothing for her to do anymore seeing as she no longer had to get stronger in this area and that she didn't have to run and hide risking her life anymore. That also stagnated her growth and kept her at the rank she was now for the last 15 years in this forest. But one of those days in the forest earlier on she finally came across something different for the first time.

A human entered the forest.

When she finally saw something different she quickly approached it but as soon as she got close to that man she was instantly attacked by him without warning. Fortunately the man was weak though and she was able to instinctively counter attack but unfortunately it ended up instantly killing him.

"Why?"

That question echoed in her mind.

All she did was run up and get close to him but she got instantly attacked. She had no idea why and even ended up killing him by accident out of habit. It did make her sad to see that happen but what she was mostly sad about was that finally something different happened and then it instantly disappeared as fast as it appeared. But putting that behind her she moved on quickly because if it happened once it was bound to happen again and the next time she'd approach it differently or at the very least the next human would hopefully do something different. All she wanted was something to liven up her days.

Then came another day where another human walked in the forest area. Unlike last time, this time she decided to just watch over the human from a distance instead of just barreling straight in due to excitement. But to her disappointment this human that walked in was for the most part similar to the last one.

Trash.

she watched as the human attacked everything it saw and even saw the human looking happy doing so like they were enjoying a game. After seeing that kind of smile she instantly decided to just kill the animal instead of trying to interact with the person again. She didn't usually resort to violence right away but she hated Astral beats who just attacked whatever whenever just for the fun of it. So she definitely wouldn't tolerate people doing it either.

After that she kept on waiting for more people to show up and more did come in fact probably over a couple thousand in the span of 15 years came. But each and every single human she ended up observing was the same.

Greedy for something, Sadistic, Lunatics or fakes. she saw hundreds of different personalities and unfortunately they all happened to be the Worst of the worst. but one thing was good that came out of it, she learned how to speak their language and understand them a lot better than before. Though she couldn't actually speak herself. Unfortunately Understanding didn't give any difference it what she saw and even made it worse in some cases.

She also became colder and more disappointed the more she saw people like this and even more indifferent to the things around her. A never ending circle of disappointment. Even if she knew there some good humans out there she never had any of them come to the forest in her long life.

At some point she again gave up looking for something different and even gave up killing them and just ended up mechanically watching and observing them all to see if anyone would turn out differently then the last. She wanted to see if even one that wasn't complete garbage would show up in her forest.

Even if it seemed like a dying flame of hope to her with all the countless humans she'd seen before She was bound for disappointment though. Repeat after repeat, time after time all she ever saw was the awful side of people. Until finally the thought crossed her mind after years and years of staying in the forest.

"Maybe I should try and find somewhere else to look, who knows what I could possible find, maybe even a better place then this dark and gloomy forest"

"I'll give the next human who comes one last chance and if all disappointment awaits from them then I'll leave for good."

With that plan in mind she slowly began another wait for someone else to show up. Whether they'd disappoint her or not she'd find out.

That's when it finally happened.

On a sunny afternoon day she finally spotted a younger boy nervously but firmly walking toward the forest.

Because its completely in a different perspective i decided to be a bit more straight forward with these ones and post two so some people might not feel like they're missing any actual story.

Even though personally i love these kind of chapters because it helps expand on other things.
