Chapter 8: Devourer
After exiting the forest he walked about halfway home in the dark evening until he came around a roughly safe spot that would suit his needs for what he planned to do. The nagging thought to eat the Wolf kept coming at him strongly ever since he first bit into the wolf and killed it. He didn't know why it was like that but something was telling him it wasn't something so simple as being hungry or at least he hoped it wasn't something that simple.
"If that's all this is I might as well just never listen to my defective instincts again."
Complaining about something that may or may not happen he continued his preparations for what he was about to do.
Eating the Wolfs meat.
"Luckily it shouldn't be too dangerous or threatening and if it is well my body is abnormal so it should be able to handle a little sickness or pain relatively well." With that thought running through his head he continued doing what he needed to do.
It took !0 minutes of constantly attempting to start a fire before finally getting one lit. Though it did take a little longer then he hoped. But with that out of the way he could now move on to the next step which was dismantling the corpse of its fur, blood and meat. Even with him being a complete and utter novice at the task all he wanted was the meat from the wolf and nothing else so he didn't care how messy or unrefined it ended up as long as it met his requirements.
As he was tearing into the body he took whatever he could get his hands on and threw the rest of it off to the side for another time. Now that everything was done he could finally start cooking it.
What it tasted like or whether it was safe didn't particularly matter to him so after waiting a decent amount of time and seeing that it was most likely edible he decided to bite down and see what would happen after consuming it. Still though even if he knew he'd be fine for the most part it wasn't an easy task to bring himself to do.
Slowly and hesitantly making his mouth move towards the meat he finally summed up enough courage to take a bite. Once he did the first thought that strongly gushed through his mind was to devour all of it no matter what.
With this feeling flowing through him it shocked him greatly because he'd never felt like this whenever he ate before even when he was extremely hungry. There was probably something that caused his instincts to act like this in the meat itself but he wasn't quite sure seeing as this was his first time ever eating something with Astral Energy inside. Even so, he began to grow extremely hungry and started to eat it with wild abandon.
Though after he finished the Wolf meat off he finally noticed all the energy running haywire in his body. Feeling his energy run wild he panicked and even cursed at the stupidity of his instincts or the meat itself for being the most likely candidate for bringing this feeling onto him because this was extremely dangerous.
If you lose control of your energy due to either an external force that overflowed your energy or taking something that massively increased your energy at once whether it had ill intentions behind it or not it could bring severe repercussions like exhaustion over a long period of time or even the loss of some energy that could make you weaker then you were before or in the absolute worse case death itself.
In the state he was in he could mostly confirm that was happening in his body at the moment due to finding some information on the symptoms and effects when he went to the Library around town and found the info in one of the books with all the other basic Astral Energy guides. Seeing as how his body matched that information it caused him to panic quite a bit.
But After what felt like an eternity of timed had passed he actually noticed his body controlled the energy perfectly without it ever going overbearingly out of control. He even noticed a rise in his Astral energy bringing him a step away from the Awakened Stage. Once he discovered that he then felt another strong burst of crazed hunger telling him to devour all the of the Wolfs meat he could get his hands on even if it was attached to the skin.
"Everything."
Giving into that feeling knowing it he couldn't fully stop or it and with the confidence that it probably wouldn't cause any harm to him after. He just let his body's instinct overwhelm him. He ended up devouring everything single part of the wolf he could find left even the bones. After the feeling settled down and finished every single piece of meat he finally noticed the energy in his body acting up again.
The energy this time around though was a lot more controlled than last time and a lot weaker than the first time around but there was still plenty. He could feel himself inching towards the Awakened stage with every second passing by. Seeing the changes happening to him caused great excitement to rush through him with no end but it also confused him and brought the question to mind of.
"Is everyone like this or am I the only one who's different?"
Alas even with that question swirling in his mind he had no information to answer that or no one to answer it for him and not enough experience and trials to see how it exactly worked. The only thing he could tell for sure was that it happened to him and that the second time around it was weaker. Whether that was due to him getting stronger already with the first consumption or other reasons he wasn't quite sure.
"Most likely it was my instinct telling me eat that which is why i felt it so strongly."
"I also probably only ever felt it now because it was either my first time consuming something with Astral Energy in it or the first time consuming it while having Astral Strength in my body. Either way this was definitely an important discovery to make now I just need to figure out the conditions of triggering it and if others can do so to but that won't be as easy as it sounds haaaa..."
*Boom*
He felt a shock run through his body as the energy rampaging in him finally calmed down.
After his body felt shocked his mind ended up getting shocked next.
He had actually got to the Awakened Stage with Just that wolf meat alone. Even if now he officially stepped into the first stage it probably wasn't that hard to do. It still was an amazing thing to him though. Getting to the first stage in under a week was something completely unexpected to him. Based on his predictions it probably would of took him at least 2 weeks or so to step into the first stage but that got cut down drastically this time.
Unfortunately this was probably a one time deal on how easy it was going to be seeing as how he finally stepped into an actual stage so relying on it wasn't an option only a bonus between his actual training. Seeing how late it had gotten he finally snapped out of his excited thoughts. It looked like he'd have to wait until the next day to start more training and progress on this new discovery.
Quickly cleaning up all the mess he made with fire and what not he made his way back to the Fiery Clan this time though it took a lot less time to get back then the trip from there to here.
"In the next couple weeks I'm gonna need to learn some more things and test the limits of how strong I am now compared to before"
Satisfied with today's efforts he continued his run back.

NoNamesLeft We'll Learn More about his ability the more he learns about it in the future but since this might be slightly spoilerish ignore this comment next. This Ability Is definitely not all good things.
Also I seriously wasn't planning on uploading another chapter today but since i'm happy with my progress :P. i'm doing two more since they fit together
I am Seriously not made of bonus chapters so this weekend is gonna be long for me haaa.. most likely i'll Stick to the schedule i set for myself and not do anything but we'll see
