It was November 12th, 2014. The human race is booming, taking over new lands for resources. The recent Ebola virus outbreak was quickly stopped, changing it from a deadly virus into a big joke.
The United States is now operating normally, yet still ridiculous enough to warrant attention.
It is here that we meet our Main character, John 'Ignis' Octavio, or Igni for short.
No, he's not related to Doctor Octopus, not even a little bit.
Not even for a scooby snack

♢Third Person♢
John tosses and turns in his bed, seemingly bothered by something. He scrunches up his brow and grunts, having found a comfortable spot.
♢John's POV♢
That bastard thinks he's the hottest shit and it pisses me off. Flaunting his basketball skill, running his mouth, you name something you hate and he's probably done it.
His name is Bennie Mayers, a 5'6" white male with a lean figure. He had a Guchii belt buckled around his head, keeping up with the latest fashion on Inst-Tube.
He could easily get a girlfriend just by picking one of his fangirls. Don't be optimistic though, he leads them on before dumping them for the next girl who comes his way.
He's the school's star basketball player with a few high-schools attempting to drive him their way once he graduates in a year. Our school tries to push the poachers back but a few still get recognition on PerfectPicks, a huge social media group dedicated to putting the spotlight on stars and players in every profession. He had just barely scraped by the required stats for their page.
He wasn't the best but his sob story about being belittled for his dream due to his height grips the hearts of a some viewers. They love how using his skills along with squeezing out every drop of his mediocre talent got him placed 197th out of 263 amateur players in our state.
Our school was on the backwater side with things like fights and falling outs happening constantly. Bennie's status above 220th place was a godsend to the school, giving them more funds and recognition to use. My parents didn't want me to attend here but my father's new job left us little choice.
"Come on Johnny-boy, you can do better than that" He says, pushing his finger into my chest. I didn't do any type of sport but I surpassed him in the height department at 5'11. I could feel my chest tightning, adrenaline steadily rising.
He backs up and smirks, "Now that yo head ain't in a book, you lost all of yo flames?" I snap at him, "Shut up man, I'm not in the mood for this!" He looks surprised.
What did he expect after he had dragged me to the back of the school to be made a fool of? We normally never make contact with each other due to differing friend circles. He was the sports star, I was the grades and gaming kid. It stayed that way until he laid his sights on me.
He tried to single me out and dig under my skin, hoping to get some laughs out of my misery. It worked like a charm, he went from unlikable to unbearable. He was enough to annoy me, but never enough to make act out. Until yesterday, when I had a lapse of judgement.
I had called him out for getting a 28 on a pop quiz. I told him that the belt wrapped around his head had finally made him retarded. I had let the venom I had constantly battled with out at the wrong time.
I had tried to reign myself back in trying to keep damage to a minimum but it was too late. His face turned beet red and he challenged me to a fight in the school's courtyard. Our teacher looked like they wanted to intervene but didn't in fear of losing their job like the last teacher who had embarrassed Bennie.
I didn't blame him, witnessing firsthand what had happened to our old teacher.
After the previous teacher had ribbed him for his terrible test results, Bennie was furious. He had stormed to the principal and told him about what had happened, even threatening to change schools. The principal had fired her on the spot, not even listening to what she had to say.
A voice rang out, "Ay, you still wit' me dumbass?" I had almost forgot about Bennie and the terrible situation I was in. "After dat big ol' mess in the classroom, I hope dat you're ready for dis ass whoopin'!" After saying that, he had begun to take his shirt off. A huge crowd of children that had formed around, nearly the half of the school.
The yells and jeers thundered in my ears as my stomach dropped and my adrenaline rushed. I had never been in a serious fight that had gone beyond three blows. It didn't seem like it bothered Bennie though, he raced forward throwing a hard left at my head. I threw my hands to block before feeling a hard slam against my stomach, forcing me to double over.
My stomach throbbed in pain but I forced through it, lurching forwards in a tackle. I managed to secure his waist and one of his arms but his free hand hammered on my back. With my adrenaline draining, a weighty punch landed on the right of my temple.
The right side of my vision swam, various yells around me fading in and out constantly. My head felt like it was being torn in half, my stomach ached and I felt like I wanted to throw up my lunch.
I could feel all of the aches and pains turn into pure unadulterated rage. I released him from the tackle and headbutt him in the nose, stunning him. I began to rain hell on him.
I let out a rage filled scream, startling the surrounding instigators. In front of over 100 people, I bashed Bennie's head in. Left, right, left, right, on and on without stopping for even a second.
*SMACK* *SMACK* *SMACK*
The cheering and jeering stopped, becoming near silent except for the sounds of flesh hitting flesh and Bennie's screams for help. Somebody tried to seperate me from Bennie, yanking me backwards. I kicked and punched, trying to get back to Bennie. I wanted to teach him a lesson...
*BRRRRRRRRRR*
"GUH" I woke up with my sheets drenched, covered in sweat. It was that recurring nightmare about Bennie.
I get up and pull the drenched sheets off of my mattress, beginning to feel just how tired I am. I don't even feel like moving, let alone going to school. I slap my cheeks and move towards my dresser.
I don't regret what I did that day, I truly don't from the bottom of my heart. I don't care that Benny lost his spot at stardom. All I regret is the trouble that I caused my parents.
No point in wallowing in old memories now, it's time to get ready.
After getting dressed, brushing my teeth, and splashing some water on my face, I finally feel ready to get a move on.
"John, Its time for school!" Just in time too.
"Coming mom, just give me a second!"
♢Third Person♢
John hopped out of his room and ran down the stairs. As he entered the kitchen, he saw his mother, Samantha Octavio, washing dishes. He looked towards his left to see that his father, Thane Octavio, had finished off his share of breakfast and was wiping his mouth.
Samantha looks in John's direction "Eat quickly, If you dont hurry up, you're going to be late!"
"Wait just a second Samantha, When I was his age, I skipped a few classes of my own," Thane says as he looks up from his plate. "Maybe you should cut the boy some slack, he's improved a lot compared to before."
Hearing that, Samantha spins around and gives Thane one of her famous death glares, a look that promises great pain for the recipient. They say that her strongest glare could make even a tiger's heart implode.
Thane, seeing the situation escalate, attempts to curb his wife's anger. "B-But that's just a suggestion, I would never force anything on you my sweetheart!" He says as he begins to sweat.
Samantha's face brightens up almost immediately. "Oh, Thane, you always know how to make me feel better," She says as she emits a welcoming aura, almost as if the previous five minutes never happened.
'That glare of hers makes me want to run away as fast as possible. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if Dad tried to bring that subject up again.'
John proceeds to scarf down his plate before getting up from the table. "Alright then, *gulp* I'm leaving now!" He waves to his parents as he shoots out of the door and into the street.
♢Line~Break♢
After fifteen minutes of mild running, John manages to see the school building in the distance. As he gets closer and closer, he takes a deep breath and begins to prepare himself for the incoming shit storm that is his school life.
♢John's POV ♢
'Alright, I can do this, I am completely calm. My body is a safe to keep my anger contained. My anger is under lock and key. Noone can open the safe to my anger. I am in full control'
Alright, this is good so far, all I need to do is repeat my mantra and contain my anger. As long as I can keep this up for a bit longer, an incident like THAT will never happen again.
I've already gone through most of the day, all I need to do now is English and then my 'tutoring session' with James. Ugh, just thinking about that bastard pisses me off.
"Not so fast, Nerd" A boorish voice sounds out behind me.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear, huh? Damn it, I was so close to finishing the rest of my free time before the inescapable tutoring session I have with this fool.
It's barely been a few seconds since seeing him and I'm already pissed off. No, I'm not mad, I am calm. My anger is under lock and key. Alright, now that I'm ready, I can try to find a way out of an extended conversation with James.
I turn around to face James and his band of idiots. "Yeah James, you need anything from me?" I say to him, trying to keep my anger under control.
James proceeds to shoulder check me out of the way, even when there was more than enough room for him and his cronies to pass by unobstructed.
This damned bastard, if I wasn't already on a tight leash I'd- No, never again, I'll never allow my anger to control me like that ever again. I still regret what I did to Bennie even if he forced me into a corner.
"Just making sure you know your superiors, Nerd" He looks me in the eyes.
We stare at each other before James breaks eye contact. He shoves me further out of his way before turning around to speak with his followers.
