Chapter 54: Chapter 53: The Black Flute

Bright peach skies greeted the light of day on ChuanXi city. From far away, a veiled woman can be seen walking with two masked men as her companions. They entered ChuanXi city however, the commonfolk did not bother to suspect them out of something since they encounter all weird looking costumers and passersby everyday.

Heading to the back palace, the mysterious woman led the two men to wait outside. She walked inside the entrance but two guards caught her attention.

"Halt! State your purpose!"

"I am one of the king's consorts."

"Remove your veil for us to see."

"I am a very new one sir. If I may, I will attend now to the king."

"Nonsense! Remove your veil or we will be forced to invite you to the dungeon!"

"Alright."

The woman slowly reached in for the back of her head she then pulled in something slowly and...

*snap!*

Two guards fell down dead with red darts on their head. The woman ran fast as she could and reached King Fu's room. However, she did not succeed on finding him. Instead, she faced YingLuo who was sitting beside the king's bedroom window.

"Who are you and why did you come here?"

The woman did not reply. She reached in from her side but YingLuo threw a dagger. She evaded the dagger but it left a little wound on her cheek.

"Make one wrong move or answer my question. Who are you and who sent you?"

The woman pulled darts and tried to impale YingLuo but she avoided them all. YingLuo jumped and draw out her divine weapon. Her robes changed it's color into white as she fought off the mysterious veiled woman.

She looked at her pitch black eyes and thought long hard and deep.

'I may have seen those eyes before.'

The woman thrusted her dagger at YingLuo but it pierced between the gap of the sticks of her fan. She took this opportunity and twisted the fan making the woman let go of her other dagger.

YingLuo looked at her decisively and noticed a tear on her left eye. The woman was definitely crying but she could not tell the reason why.

"Last question... Who are you?"

"S—sis—ter....H—he—help me..."

The woman spoke faintly but YingLuo recognized her voice. It was Zhao Min. YingLuo decided to grab her but she suddenly disappeared in a fog. She looked up for her heading below the back palace burt unfortunately she only found two dead guards.

'Zhao Min... What have they done to you...'

"Y—you go ahead G—General H—hhHua."

"Why are you like this Wei Yue? Come let's eat. MoXiao will cooked us great food it'll make you fell great."

Wei Yue's eyes widened as he heard MoXiao's name and the memories came flowing back to his mind making him more restless. He put his hand on his head pretending that he did not hear his name.

"Oh no... No... That cursed curse giver! Bohohoho...."

It was exactly about two days after that piping hot cooking happened at the library but Wei Yue still feels paranoid about it.

Eerie music resounded the sun-shining cloud pavillion as XuanZheng played a tune on her flute. The music lifted the curse from Chang 'e's wound making ot close up and heal. She transferred the dark aura to her body that sent black veins from her hands up to her arms which reached her neck.

After playing, XuanZheng fell on the floor and coughed up blood from her mouth. LanRong uncovered her ears and assisted XuanZheng in a nearby chair.

"Zheng—jie. You shouldn't force yourself."

"No, Rong'mei... It is my responsibility why Chang 'e ended up in such a state. If I haven't betrayed the ninth heaven before and did not waged war upon the humans then—"

"You'll get Zhuge Liang do what he wants..."

XuanZheng lowered her head. She could only feel regret after what she did. LanRong gave a pat on her back and smiled at her.

"At least, you did the right thing now Zheng—jie. Umm... May I ask something?"

"Yes Rong'mei."

"Where did you get that flute?"

LanRong pointed at her flute and she brought it up close.

"This is from the dark realm. This flute was crafted to cause harm and inflict pain. The demon king once held this flute but when his kingdom fell after the Gods defeated him, all of the immortals thought that his instrument of chaos have been lost..."

"So you really do wield the Dark Realm Flute."

"I do use this but only for good intentions and extreme emergencies such as this."

XuanZheng gripped the flute in her hand and afterwards, it vanished into thin air.

"Rong'mei. It'd be best if you keep the flute a secret between us."

"Yes Zheng'jie."

Chang E woke up after a while. LanRong assisted her up the bed and faced the one who saved her life. As Chang 'e cleared her blurry vision, she saw XuanZheng sitting beside the window looking faraway.

"Zheng'jie you're back!"

"Of course Chang 'E. I couldn't let you die just like that."

"You really do look for me every single time that I get into trouble."

"Yes I do."

A faint knock was heard from the door and as the three turned their heads to look at the one who knocked, JinRen presented himself and bowed in front of them.

"Your immenences, why did you bring this scoundrel back to the ninth heaven?"

Chang 'e adjusted her position at the bed and laid her back against the headrest for her to speak properly.

"She saved my life JinRen. May I ask, why are you here exactly?"

"I am here to apprehend that scoundrel High Goddess now, move out of the way or suffer the same fate as that piece of disowned scrap."

JinRen commanded the guards to capture XuanZheng when, a sound of Erhu reverberated in the room. The guards fell on the floor unconscious. JinRen angrily gnashed his teeth and turned at the one who made the sound.

Xi Yuyao came walking at the room in an orderly fashion. The sound of her slippers made the other Gods and immortals bow in awe.

JinRen also bowed in her presence but Xi Yuyao only gave him a cold shoulder.

"High Goddess of Beauty, Xi Yuyao please do not interfere of my affairs, this scoundrel XuanZheng needed to be put in the dungeon for the manipulation of ancient evil tree's dark aura."

"Is that so? I have always wanted to apprehend XuanZheng myself but... JinRen..."

JinRen raised his head and was hit by Xi Yuyao's attack coming from her Erhu.

JinRen was tossed across the room and hit his back at the wall. Blood flowed from his mouth from the impact against the wall.

"High Goddess Xi Yuyao! What's the meaning of this?"

"I have already know your personal schemes and treason from the ninth heaven. If it weren't from XuanWu, I wouldn't have figured out that you were the one who was helping Zhuge Liang out of the shadows. Guards! Capture this imbecile!"

The guards rose up and captured JinRen instead. He tried to force himself to get away from the guards but it was no use. He yelled as he was carried away from the room and into the dungeon.

XuanZheng bowed herself in front of Xi Yuyao. Xi Yuyao gestured for her to stand up.

"Xi Yuyao! Thank you for saving me."

"Always welcome XuanZheng. Now, could you show me that horrendous divine weapon that you have?"

"Am I going to be put in a dungeon too because of it?"

"Of course not. Show me the flute."

XuanZheng reached her palm and the flute appeared in front of them. Xi Yuyao's eyes grew wide. Tears fell from her eyes.

"XuanZheng... Where did you get this weapon?"

"Before he died he gave it to me."

"*sniffles* Thank you for keeping it safe XuanZheng."
