Chapter 11: Chapter 10: Inexcusable

Along the gardens of the temple where violets grow in full bloom, Luo Na strolled with herself. She couldn't help but think about what happened earlier. Her life is at the verge of disappearing but still she is with the man who will partake in taking her life.

"No..." She whispered to herself...

"The General has been very nice to me and..." She stopped and clenched her teeth. She took her daggers, wielded it and slashed them at the flowers leaving the petals falling down against the clear yet faint moonlight.

Yin Mushen saw her and sat at the steps of the temple watching her.

"You know, misery loves company." He approached her and she sheathed her blades back.

"Sorry for what I did to the flowers." Luo Na sat beside him and stared at the moonlit sky.

"Do not fret. Plants will continue to grow as long as their roots stand firm on the ground." Yin Mushen softly laughed. "What did the spring show you?" He added.

"I suppose we can't avoid death right? He always comes whenever he pleases." Luo Na replied.

"I agree. But as long as we are alive, we should make the best out of what we can do." Yin Mushen nodded.

"I'm afraid so. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a dinner to prepare." Luo Na was about to leave when he stopped her with a question for a brief moment.

"You are a member of the Dragon Blade, why do you wish to help Wei Yue? Is it solely for revenge? Closure or perhaps... Love?"

Luo Na stopped and turned back at him. "It is of my will..."

Yes. There is nothing more he could say. Luo Na left Yin Mushen there admiring the pale blue moon. It wasn't for revenge for her parents, it's not for closure for his brother and it's not about love... For the General... She thought that if she could help break Ning's spell and restore order to the Kingfoms, then... Children wouldn't have to lose their parents like her.

"Luo Na, where have you been? Dinner is served." Li An said as she served dishes to Wei Yue, Zhang Xiaoxing and of course... To General Hua.

"I- I wanted to breathe fresh air." Luo Na sat down and grabbed the chopsticks. She chomped down the food slowly until she caught sight of General Hua staring at her.

"W-what?" She asked the General blushing cheeks.

"You know I keep wondering, everytime I look at you and you catch me, you seem to have a fever." General Hua jokingly said and the others laughed. Luo Na stood up and didn't finished her food and went outside without a word.

"I offended her." General Hua's tone of voice is wavering.

"Nah, don't mind her. She's really like that. All her life she devotes only for killing to the point that she got nothing to love. I bet she killed her own heart in the process."

With what Zhang Xiaoxing said, General Hua went outside and looked for Luo Na. When he was nearing the garden, he saw her gliding with her blades against the moonlight along with the petals of the violets with her. She seems to be dancing with them.

"Luo Na... I'm sorry about earlier... I-" General Hua stopped for one of Luo Na's blade is facing in front of his face.

"I will forgive you, if you duel with me." Luo Na invited General Hua to withdraw his sword and spar with her.

He agreed and unsheathed his sword. Their blades clashed leaving sparks. Even as the moonlight shone brightly, their blades' sparks are more intense. The battle sounded musical rather than being edgy. The clinks and clanks of their blades is like a symphony along with the falling of the petals of the violets. Their battle lasted until one of Luo Na's blades slipped and fell into the ground. General Hua saw an opening and was about to thrust his sword against her... But he couldn't.

"Why?" Luo Na asked him. General Hua shook his head.

"No... I couldn't drive myself... to..." General Hua shouted and impaled his sword on the ground instead.

"What did the army taught you? They told you to never let your sword down to an enemy right?" Luo Na grabbed his sword and handed it to him. "Kill me..." She added... "If we are about to die maybe in a few days, in few weeks... Then kill me... And live."

Luo Na turned her back and picked up her other blade.

"I wouldn't kill someone I... I love." General Hua withdrawn his sword and sheathed it back.

Luo Na's eyes started welling with tears and she knelt on the ground.

"If you love me, then you will die..."

General Hua hugged her tightly but she brushed him off immediately.

"I love you... But please, live for me." This time... Luo Na pushed him away but the General grabbed her by the arm and continued to wrap his arms around her.

She let go of the blades and so as the General. There was silence all over. Only the sound of crickets and other insects were heard. The moonlight has been covered by dark clouds.

"I... I love you Luo Na... So just please, don't die on me. Let's live on together and have kids and grow old together... Let's figure destiny out together..."

Even though General Hua is speaking in a muffled voice, his feelings reached deep into Luo Na's heart and touched her soul. With tears in her eyes, she put her arms also around the General and said... "Yes."

From afar, Li An was observing them both with Zhang Xiaoxing in her back.

"I wonder, when did those two fell for each other?" Li An scratched her head. She doesn't get it at all. She thought that the General had only met Luo Na, days ago...

"From the moment that they met I guess." Zhang Xiaoxing replied. They both had to whisper since they do not want someone to catch them eavesdropping at the lovers.

"Love is a powerful thing indeed." Yin Mushen walked past at the eavesdroppers and they both yelled in fright.

"W-wwwwhat, I don't understand... The General hasn't been in love before..." Li An asked him.

"You swam only the surface of the river my child." He said.

"But sir, you're a child." Zhang Xiaoxing interrupted. Yin Mushen pulled out his fan and hit Zhang Xiaoxing's head.

"Stop interrupting me when I'm talking." He said.

The two agreed and started paying more attention to him.

"You see, love changes people. Sometimes, hearts that are frozen are thawed, sane people go insane and also... A dark soul becomes bathed in light."

"If so... Then the General and Luo Na?" Zhang Xiaoxing asked...

"Let's just hope love doesn't get them killed."
