Chapter 15: The Morning After
Strong rays of sun were leaking into the room waking Sera up. "Ugh it's too bright!" Sera screeched. Her head was pounding and the room felt like it was spinning. Sera just laid there in silent agony. 'Why did I drink so much so fast?' She thought. Blindly reaching for her phone she realized she was still in the dress from last night. "Ugh" last night wouldn't leave her. She had memory of everything she did and then she blushed. Smothering her face in a pillow she screamed, "What the fuck were you thinking!?"
'Lucien thinks I'm a slut now I'm sure' Sera thought sourly. Actually he was now more interested in her than he was before it seemed. At least the fact he was willing to fight his adopted brother over her meant something, but she was sleeping during that incident. Attempting to find her phone again, she finds it and looks at it. '10 missed calls!!! 10 texts! What happened?' She started thinking when it dawned on her. 'Oh yeah, I told them I'm engaged now.' She laughed to herself. Then the reality of everything hit her. She is a witch with no training, who is engaged to a very powerful warlock. This was still a lot to process and she had a hangover from hell.
She then unlocked the screen on the phone and started to read her texts. Group message:
H- what!?!
Izzy- OMFG!!!!!!
H- this is fucking insane!
H- where the fuck are you? How are you going to drop a bomb then disappear!?!
The rest of the messages got more angry and consisted of the same message just somewhat more colorful words. The misses calls were all from the girls and even their parents. 'Time to go face the my own 'rents. Ugh I hope they don't know about how messed up I got last night.' She grudgingly thought. She then got up changed into her pajamas and went down stairs. The kitchen was bright and colorful due to the stained glass in the windows. It was truly a beautiful sight and the best part of waking up. There was coffee in the pot so Sera helped herself. The aroma of the coffee was amazing and it immediately made her senses delighted. The taste was bold and robust, yet smooth and subtle. It was amazing coffee to say the least.
While enjoying her coffee, she didn't notice her mom walk up behind her. "Good coffee, huh?" Luna questioned her daughter with a smirk. Naturally sera jumped like a cat that got spooked. "Oh my God Mom! You scared me half to death." Sera laughed while holding her chest. Luna gazed at her daughter and noticed how relaxed she appeared. " Did you have a good time last night? I saw you dancing with Lucien. You guys look so good together." Luna beamed. Upon hearing those words Sera blushed because of her memories from the previous night. Did her mom know she was drunk? They say there looking at each other for awhile, when Sera broke the tension.
" I may have had a drink too many since I was upset." She desperately hoped that her mom wouldn't get upset. "Why do you look so pitiful? Almost like I ran over your dog" Luna felt amused that her daughter was so uptight. "It's ok to cut loose from time to time. In fact, I use to drink a good bit when I was younger." She smiled at Sera a warm and inviting smile. Sera stared almost as if she couldn't believe her mom would lose control ever. While she was pondering her moms' own misbehavior, Dimitri walked in.
"What are we discussing? Did I hear something about drinking?"
"Yes, Sera was drunk last night during her dance" She teased. "Oh, dressed like she was?" He got a scared look on his face. Sera picked up on his unease and quickly said, "Nothing happened. I'm fine, just have a hangover. Anyway, thanks to whomever made the coffee. It's delicious and it is aiding my hangover beautifully." Everyone looked at each other, not knowing where to look or who made it. "I didn't make it." Dimitri admitted flatly. Luna shook her head, "Neither did I. It must have been one of our guests." Since their house was so large it could house about 10 guests and generally after a party all extra rooms became occupied. Sera wasn't surprised because this was the custom. Responsible hosts should give their drunk guests a place to stay after all.
"I made it specially for Miss Sera." Jack appeared from thin air it seemed. Everyone sat bewildered and their mouth hung open especially Sera's.
