Chapter 7: Party Time
Was Lucien evil? Only time will tell and time is the best at revealing the truth. Truth seemed to always be constant and the only time the 'truth' changed is when the 'truth' was actually a lie concealed as truth. This very information is what scared Sera from becoming close with many people. The girls she had managed to have close friendships with were developed over many years starting from childhood. Hannah had been the oldest of the friends and Isabella was brought in within the last five years. Sera was very wary of people and didn't trust too easily. Whenever someone or something didn't feel truthful, Sera would get this sixth sense almost and then she would 'see' what the truth was. What she didn't know is that sixth sense of hers is actually her magical gifts trying to break free. When she would 'see' things she was actually using a type of foresight that allowed the user to see the story someone told. It actually would show the user the actual seen that was being described so the user would then know if the storyteller was honest. Sera had been using her gifts for years and had no clue. Maybe she will be able to discern Lucien's actions with this unknown power she possesses.
Lucien was waiting at the foot of the stairs for Sera to join the party, but the party had barely begun. Upon hearing a noise Lucien looked up and was stunned to complete silence. Sera was descending the stairs, hair flowing like wild fire and skin glistening in the candlelight. To say she was stunning was an understatement and Lucien had no words for her appearance. As soon as their eyes met Sera stopped moving and stood in place staring down at Lucien. "Were you waiting for me?" She gently asked. All he could do was just nod his head in agreement while his mouth was practically hanging open. "I figured you wouldn't really know anyone here, so I thought that I would accompany you. That way you aren't nervous and alone." He said in a very matter of fact type of way. She smiled at his thoughtfulness, but it made her feel uneasy and her gut was telling her there was something being unsaid.
"oh, really?" she laughed. Lucien didn't know why she laughed and tried to invade her mind for the answers, but the little minx was blocking him. How could she block him when he was able to freely see her thoughts earlier. Maybe she's a lot more capable than he realized and he underestimated her based on information he had. She had never been taught how to block her mind so how was she doing it? Is she able to use her magical abilities without proper training? If that were true that would mean she is a natural born witch! Which would be amazing news for his plans all he needs now is her loyalty and trust. The air suddenly became chilly and Sera whimpered a little and rubbed her arms. "Why is there always a chill? I swear its annoying!" She exclaimed. Lucien then put his arm around her to help warm her up. This action took her by complete surprise and she ended up stumbling into the banister on the stairs. "Woah, are you ok?" He quickly grabbed her and checked to see if she was injured. While checking her over he was able to check out her body a little better and he was quite pleased seeing what she had. Was it wrong for him to think the thoughts he had been thinking? Of course not! She is his future wife, after all. Although, if she knew his intentions at the moment, she would probably punch him.
"Seraphina!" Luna appeared out of nowhere and excitedly greeted her daughter. "You look magical in that dress. Let me guess; Izzy and H were over and made you up." She smiled as she said this cause she knew her daughter really didn't care about such things as appearances. Sera smiled back and nodded earnestly to her mom's questions. Sera didn't realize how nervous she was until her mom showed up. Now she felt like she was a sore thumb sticking out of the mud. How would she feel after seeing her dad? She never felt this intense when thinking of her dads reaction. Would he say she's too sexy? Would he notice she was trying to stand out? Well, hearing his laughter nearby informed Sera that she was about to get all of her questions answered.
