Chapter 3: How it Started (3)
Upon hearing voices and laughter Luna stepped out of her indoor garden, located by the front door, and smiled. "Oh you're here." Greeting Lucien she then nodded in the direction of Sera. "I see that you met Sera finally." That finally had a certain tone to it. As if they were fated to meet and destiny was finally unfolding. Sera looked around at the faces of everyone and realized she had no clue what was going on. Her parents were holding each other's waist and looking at Lucien.
"So, I'm going to go to my room now..." she gestured towards the stairs and was about to leave when a hand caught her wrist. "Why don't you take Lucien with you since you guys are close in age." Luna suggested and then added, "Plus your father and I need to discuss something really fast before the boys have their meeting." Before Sera could argue her mom was ushering them toward the stairs. 'Why do her parents want her to be alone with this odd man. Also why did they say we are close in age? He seems so much older than 25 or so.' She contemplated in her mind.

Once the coast was clear Luna couldn't hold in her thoughts anymore, "They look splendid together don't they? I'm so happy that our daughter was chosen for our patriarch's sons' marriage."
"Woman, be quiet. We can't let her find out before the tonight. By the way, did you make sure she can't sneak out tonight? It's important that she attend tonight's party as it's her coming out party." Dimitri ordered. It's seemed anytime he spoke, even when it was sweet nothing's, he spoke with power and it felt like a demand. Even though Luna had been married to him for 25 years, she still had to remind herself of his temperament. "Now, how do you think she's going to react?" Luna asked.
Their daughter lived a somewhat average privileged life and had never known the truth behind their family and their influence. Truth be told they're a family of powerful witches and warlocks and Dimitri was second in command of their coven Dovestale. "I told you we should have raised her in the ways of our coven. That way when her betrothal is announced she won't try to runaway." He frowned. He never liked the idea of raising her in a normal way. The way he saw it is they were asking too much of their daughter. Not only, was her world about to be turned upside down, but she was also about to find out her parents weren't who they claimed to be.

Sera lead the way up the stairs and down the hall to her bedroom. Her room had a large window with a window seat, king sized bed full of pillows and comfort, and many bookshelves. Lucien looked around the room taking it all in and locking the layout in his memory. "Nice room, most young women have too much unnecessary stuff in their rooms, but it seems you're practical." He stated and then sat down on the seat in the window. "You can tell that much from just looking around my room?" She gawked. "Actually I can tell quite a lot by observation," he said matter of factly. She raised her brows indicating she wanted him to elaborate. "You prefer to stay to yourself and you value knowledge," he admitted.
It felt as if he had gone into the depths of her mind and retrieved things from her core being. It was true, she highly valued knowledge and she disliked other people. People lie, cheat, steal, and do all sorts of things that are wrong. Generally people didn't care who they stepped on to get ahead in the world and greed was something that was at its center. All of this information was the reason why she only had two good friends Hannah (H) and Isabella (Izzy). They'd die if they found out she had a guy in her room, let alone an attractive model of a man. "Wow!" She replied sarcastically. "Did I offend you? I'm sorry if I did. I was just giving you insight into what I saw." He thought out loud. "No, it takes a lot more than some honesty to make me get in my feelings." She snapped. Lucien then looked at Sera and gave a warm smile, but his eyes were still menacing and cold.
'What's going on behind those piercing eyes? He makes me feel scared, almost like he's a predator and I'm his prey,' She shivered again as she was thinking these things. He then started to smirk a half smile on his lips.
