Chapter 7: New Powerhouse-7
Before Supergirl could go back home she had to tell the rest of the Justice League first. The appearance of someone so powerful, to give even Darkseid a one sided beat down, was something extremely important.
She flew all the the way to the Justice League Watchtower and found no one other than Martian Manhunter manning the deck.
"J'onn, why are you the only one here?" She asked the green man.
"Well it's because-" he turned around and when he saw Kara's injuries he paused. "What happened to you? Are you alright?"
"Yeah I'm fine, I'm alright. I came because I have to inform everyone of some pretty important news."
"I see, well everyone else is either at work, sleeping or just doing their thing. Let me just send them a message."
He turned and floated towards the huge computer in the space station and paused.
"Do get yourself checked out in the medical bay first, it's probably going to take a bit of time for everyone to gather up."
Kara nodded and went to get a checkup.
-2 hours later-
Inside the League Watchtower tensions grew among the League members, anxious at what piece of news Kara wanted to tell them. The members present were Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkgirl, Cyborg and Martian Manhunter of course.
"J'onn, where's Kara?" Asked an impatient Batman.
"I'm the medical bay, she was quite injured when she arrived."
"Injured? How injured? Who injured her?" Superman asked worried for his cousin and one and only blood relative.
"Relax Kal, I'm alright. Only a few fractures here and there, nothing too serious." Supergirl spoke as she came in with bandages all over her body and left arm in a cast.
"Who did this to you?" Wonder Women asked angrily.
"Darkseid."
Supergirl's reply startled the Justice League, all of them taking this meeting a lot more serious now.
"That monster's back?" Asked Flash.
"If he's back then this is a lot more serious than we thought." Added Batman with his hand holding his chin.
"Well, it's actually not about Darkseid. It's actually about someone else... someone a lot stronger than him."
Most members nearly stumbled forward at Supergirl's words... *someone stronger than Darkseid?!* they all thought.
She didn't want to make them any more anxious and so she told them what happened to her. At the part where she described how Darkseid was beating her, Superman clenched his fists.
She then told them how she was thrown by him and then collided with a passing man riding his motorcycle.
Some of the members flinched for the man but at the part where the man got up with no injury the story got a little more interesting.
Towards the end of the story where Darkseid got humiliated the Space Station was in pin-drop silence. Green Lantern and Flash even had their jaws dropped.
"Do you know the man's name at least?" Batman broke the silence.
"Yeah, before he left I asked him. He told me his name is Rax... Rax something. I'm sorry it's kinda hard to-"
"Raxdos" Martian Manhunter said and everyone then turned towards him.
"Yeah! That's right, Raxdos.... but how did you know?" Supergirl asked.
"*Sigh* Darkseid is one of the most notorious figures in the galaxy, but of course everything has opposites. One of these opposing figures are the Green Lanterns who are known for their righteousness and justice.
But even the Green Lanterns have some jobs that are deemed impossible, isn't that right Hal?" Martian Manhunter turned towards Green Lantern and the latter nodded solemnly.
"These particular jobs that no one really wants to take have a big price put on them. Which leads me to the party in the middle, neither evil or good. The Bounty Hunters." Martian Manhunter was going to continue before he was cut off.
"Can you get to the point?" Asked Batman impatiently.
"One of the most well known bounty hunters in the galaxy is a duo made of 'The Main Man' and 'Huntseek'. Not a lot is known about them except for their real names- Lobo who we all know and then, Raxdos.
Before I continue can you answer one question Kara?"
Supergirl nodded, taken by surprise.
"What colour were the man's eyes?"
"Oh yeah, His eyes! They were so beautiful, one of them is red while the other-"
"Green?" J'onn cut her off and she nodded. "Than my guess is correct, this Raxdos is that bounty hunter. This specific feature is all that is known about him actually."
The League were a little unsure what to think... is this good news? Is this bad news?
"Why is he exactly well known though?" Wonder Woman asked.
"Two reasons- Risk and Success Rate. The duo are the only ones to have a record of 100% successful missions, where most of the jobs were deemed to be impossible. One thing does worry me however."
Martian Manhunter paused and the members looked at each other before nodding for him to continue.
"Some of these missions weren't to track down escaped criminals and bring them back... they were 'extermination jobs'." The way he worded it made it clear to everyone else what he meant.
"That says pretty much everything doesn't it? The guy does anything for money and if he's on our planet it can only mean one thing." Batman spoke.
"Wait! He said something about being on holiday so I'm not too sure about what you're implying." Supergirl cut in and although she found out her benefactor is a cold hearted bounty hunter, she knew there was more to it than just that.
*Silence*
*On holiday?* they all thought.
"He helped Kara and although he's probably not that great of a guy, I'm vouching for him. Let's make contact with him and if what he says about being on holiday is true then we can leave him alone?" Superman spoke with his hand on Kara's shoulder.
"Only 'If' he doesn't have any other intentions." Answered Batman.
"Guys, I say we recruit the guy." Cyborg suggested while The Flash and Green Lantern tried to suppress their laughter.
"Are you serious?" Hawkgirl asked.
"Dead serious, he helped Kara and had no reason to do so." Cyborg continued.
"Raxdos is also quite well known for his popularity with women, and Kara is beautiful after all. Maybe he helped her just that sole reason." Martian Manhunter said.
This new statement made things a little awkward and if someone looked at the Kryptonian duo they could see one with slightly blushing cheeks and the other with a clenching fist.
"Let's just figure him out first, how about it?" Cyborg ended the discussion like that and the rest agreed to take it slow.
