Chapter 5: The Village of Avalon

Suddenly appearing in the Valley of the Five Mountains, everyone was quite surprised as they took a moment to gather their bearings. Currently, though, they were standing in a slightly large gathering hall. Guessing by the Legacy Crystal floating at its center, it had probably generated the building to commemorate the establishment of the village.

As Arthur adjusted to the surroundings, his eyes focused on the floating legacy crystal as the center of the hall. Abruptly a bluish display appeared before him:

Upon reading all of the available information. Arthur focused on the name of the village, and it promptly gave him the option to name it. With a thought, the Village was named Avalon.

What really excited Arthur, though, was Avalon's current property - The Five Pillars of Civilizations.

Currently, the Village of Avalon was housed at the foot of the central mountain of the five mountains. With the worlds within these mountains, the most basic problems upcoming lords face, resources, has already been solved. As long as he had the population, putting these mini-worlds to use, would bring in great benefits.

Before we proceed, one must know that though the 'Five Pillars of Civilization' sounds ridiculous, they in fact are, especially considering the fact that its effects grow as the village grows. However, despite how outrageous it sounds, in the Realm of Pandora, it isn't that abnormal. For example, say someone found an iron mine, and they mine it for a while. Eventually, there will be nothing to left to mine. But in the Realm of Pandora, as long as an energy source can be supplied to the mine, it will continuously generate iron from the existing iron. Whereas The Five Pillars of Civilization's energy source is the Realm itself! And say someone one wanted a mini-world like the ones inside the mountains, they can as long as they have the right materials and tools. Would those mini-worlds be as good as the 'Five Pillars of Civilization?' Yea, of course….in their dreams.

As Arthur extricated himself from the Legacy Crystal's display, he found that the refugees were all stand in the Village's Hall politely waiting for him. Surprisingly, however, they didn't at all seem surprised by the recent turn of events.

With an awkward cough, " my apologies. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Arthur and welcome to the Village of Avalon."

Hearing Arthur's introduction, a silver-haired elder in scholarly robes stepped forward." A pleasure to make your acquaintance Arthur, I am Myrddin. Thank you for coming to our rescue earlier. Without your aid, I'm afraid our circumstances wouldn't have been the most favorable."

Arthur nodded in acceptance. "Judging by your situation, were you guys heading somewhere?"

"Ah yes, we were selected by our city based on our potentials to initiate the colonization of a newly discovered frontier. But before we could leave, our city was attacked, forcing us to flee. I know, comparing me to the youths behind me, my potential has long been spent. Regardless, I also hold the most experience amongst them regarding matters of establishing a settlement. If I am not wrong, did your sudden appearance have something to do with a settlement establishment task."

In Arthur's head, he couldn't help but smile. 'Just The Five Pillars of Civilization alone and he could already consider himself to be incredibly fortunate, but stumble into a group of people handpicked to create a settlement from scratch. Hmm, perhaps he was a legendary figure in the past or something to receive such fortune.

With a sturdy gaze, Arthur responded."Correct, but I didn't expect it to turn out how it did.

Nevertheless, my condolences on your lost home. However, as you can see, I am by my lonesome in this valley, and would more love for you guys to help make this your new home."

Myrddin nodded, "it as The Fates have woven."

Stepping back, he allowed the people behind him to introduce themselves.

The first to step up was a brown-haired lady, around twenty years of age.

"Hello Chief Arthur, I am Elizabeth Greenleaf, an apprentice pharmacist."

Behind her were five women she introduced as herbalists; they seemed to be slightly younger than her.

Smiling, Arthur stretched out his hands."A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Greenleaf."

"Likewise"

Following her, a wiry tan man around thirty stepped forward and stretched out his hand. "Nice to meet you, Chief, I am Norman Borlaug, an agriculturer. Similarly, behind were five men and five women, who were his helpers.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Borlaug."

Next up was a blonde-haired lady with round spectacles. Her name was Marie Curie, a researcher and was also assisted by two men and three women.

After he was a well-built dark-skinned man, who introduced himself as Tubal Cain. He was a blacksmith and was assisted by ten apprentices.

Afterward was a miner, he was slightly short but had a sturdy build and went by the name George Hearst. Behind were another ten men of the same stature.

Following him were four other men, each with ten assistants, well five if you include Siegfried. A lumberjack who went by Gifford Pinchot. A carpenter named Lu Ban. A stonemason named Sophroniscus. And last but not least was a constructor called Imhotep.

After everyone introduced themselves, the grin in Arthur's head broadened even more. As luck would have it, the universe had practically just gifted him the talent he would achieve his goal. Only with sturdy foundations can one seek to build. Perhaps he really was a legendary figure in his past life who saved the universe in a previous life. Smiling due to how well things were proceeding, Arthur beckoned everyone to take a seat. They were all in this together; thus, they all sat down to begin planning the growth of the village.

Currently, Excalibur was floating around outside while Aegon and Luna were in opposite corners of the hall and would occasionally throw provocative gazes at each other. Though Luna had posed a threat to the group before, no one really cared anymore. For one, no one was seriously injured, and second, they were the ones who intruded into her territory. Other than Aegon who nursed a personal grudge, everyone else simply moved on. As they say, today's enemy could be tomorrow's friend.

As everyone was seated, Arthur's eyes couldn't help but shine with excitement. After all, he had been waiting for this moment since he was five years old.

The general discussion began with assessing the general geography of the region. With the Legacy Crystal, a holographic 3D model was generated for everyone to survey. From was they could thus far, at the center of the valley was a large lake, while outside the valley of the 5 mountains, there were three biomes. On the left was a thick forest, the center a large plain, and on the right was a bay.

Agreeing that with their current capabilities developing the valley was the most optimal choice.

Throughout a discussion, Arthur also learned that aside from Siegfried, the other heads all had abilities.

Though Myrddin seemed normal, he actually had an ability – foresight-, without much being said, it allowed to have visions of upcoming events.

Elizabeth had -molecular analysis-, which enable her to view compounds on a molecular level and could even stimulate their reactions with each other in her head, and excellent skill for a pharmacist.

Whereas Norman had – flora linguistics -, which enabled him to talk to plants and could even revitalize them which his voice alone, indeed an agriculturer.

Marie, the researcher, had – intellectus-, the ability acts passively but grants Marie incredibly high intelligence allowing her to runs countless calculations in her head. It also granted her a photographic memory, indeed an imperative ability to have as a researcher.

Tubal's was – cast and mold -, with his bare hands, he could grab a heated metal and kneed and mold like bread dough until he got his desired piece, a definite must-watch.

George's was – metal talk-, kinda like pillow talking, but for metals. In a coaxing voice, he could encourage metals to reveal themselves, and could even subdue some sentient metals.

Gifford's ability one was – timber-, by yelling it out, he could instantly topple a tree, but of course, was limited to a certain amount of times a day.

While Gifford could topple trees, Lu Ban's ability – whisper wood- was a bit unique, by stroking a piece of wood, he would either make the wood soft or hard. It is quite useful carpentry, especially when crafting difficult pieces.

Stonemason Sophroniscus, on the other hand, had – Petra'form-, with it he could combine various stones to create stronger one, and could also freely mold them as he wished.

As for constructor Ahmotep, his ability was – re' struct-, along with virtual visualization, with enough materials he could build anything efficiently and perfectly. The only downside to it was its vast energy consumption, which limited how much he could build.

Learning of everyone's abilities, Arthur felt more secure about the future plans they had set up.

Currently, with expansion in mind and as the only building in their settlement, the area about ten kilometers from the village hall, will be left vacant. At the peripherals of that, two circular structures will be set up. The one on the left would be the Military Hall, while the one on the right would be the Civil Hall. A few kilometers past them would be a proper Settlement hall. As for space between them, it would be future and expansion and potential plazas. Past the Settlement Hall, the following area will be dedicated to an institute. Still, for now, there were no plans for its construction. Following that area, the development of houses will begin there, filling up the rest of the valley along with other structures.

For now, though, the main objective is to build temporary homes within the mountain mini-worlds to get people used to them and prep them for use.

After that has been established, semi-circular buildings will be built at the foot of each mountain would act as a nerve center for the mini-worlds that manage, except the central one since that where the settlement's main building is.

As for now, that is the current plan.

With nowhere else to sleep, everyone just pulled out their sleeping bags and soundly fell asleep in the Village Hall. Afterall the next day would be quite busy.

While everyone turned in, Arthur made his way to the back of the hall to a small corridor that led to a small study room.

As he sat down at the lone desk, the ring on his finger suddenly glowed, and the journal appeared on the desk. Unfortunately, Arthur still couldn't activate the storage capabilities of it.

Sighing, he took a moment to look at the small journal that had appeared. There was a beautiful golden crest inlaid on it. Overall its beauty relied on its simplicity. With an outline of a shield as its border, a noble-looking dragon holding a quill and a sword graced its center.

Opening it, Arthur was first greeted with letters written in gold.

To My Dear Son,

In here lies my journey from a little village chief to a sovereign.

A bit of a heads up, there are a lot of blunders in here, and when I say a lot, I mean a lot.

Just don't laugh at your old man too hard, okay?

Day 1.

Unbeknownst to Arthur, due to the exhausting events of the day. Before he had read past 'Day 1', he had drifted off to sleep.

As was a common habit of Myrddin, he walked in the valley for a bit, enjoying the luminous night sky before returning back to the Village Hall. With streaks of moonlight entering the hall, he could easily see that everyone in the hall was sound asleep. Following his survey, he went to check on Arthur in the Study Room. Seeing that he was asleep too, he prepared to leave when a glint caught his eye, the journal. Looking at the crest on the cover of the journal, he couldn't help but smile.

"Goodnight, your highness."
