Chapter 1: Red's book club
Red, a girl with twin-braided orangish-blonde hair, is asking around to find members for her club; wondering "Why aren't their more people around here, It's less than usual",
She saw a boy in the liabrary.
She speaks to the boy reading a book "Hey, Jack would you like to join the book club?",(Jack) "Sorry, I can't, I'm already in a club", (Red) "Oh.. Ok, sorry for bothering you", as she walked away.
she kept looking for someone to join her club.
[2 weeks ago]
Red was reading a book in her clubroom, until someone knocked, she opened the door, there she saw a girl and member of the Student Council.
The S.C Girl gave her a notice, "Hey, um... yeah if a club doesn't have atleast 6 members the club would be shut down and-", Red was shocked but still asked "Oh... umm.. how much time do I still have till then?",
S.C Girl responded "You have until next month to find members for this club, Oh!.. I also remembered that all clubs are required to do something that benefits the school like labor or something, If you have other questions just ask away, I'll just be in the Student Council room....Ok, Bye."
(Red) "6 members?, since their's already 2 of us in this club, and it's only been the first week of the whole semester. I think we'll manage."
[end of flash back]
Red kept seaching for members, asking everyone around, but they all rejected her offer to join her club. She then went to the school's garden but no one was there.
She sat near the fountain and just stared at the flowers, almost losing hope "What should I do?.... what should I do?",
but slaps herself and turned to the fountain
She inhaled and shouted to the fountain, "No!!, I am not giving up!!!" by doing that she somehow felt relieved, "Well it's time to go" she stood up and once she turned, she heard a sound.
(snore!!!, woooh...)
She tries to find the sound, so she walks around.
"Where could that be coming from?" as she walked to the left the sound got weaker, but when she walked to the right it got clearer, and slightly louder.
She followed the sound towards the hedges, determined that the sound was coming from the hedges.
She looks for something to seem off from top to bottom, but can't seem to notice anything different, so she pokes the hedges with a stick.
She poked around and the bottom part moved a bit; (Surprised) she pushed it, and it open like it was a secret door.
She entered the opening of the hedges, and what she saw made her gasp, it was a place that she never knew, beautiful flower bushes at the side; in the corner of her eye there was a big tree, that somehow made the site even more captivating. "What is this place, why isn't it in the school map".
But then she noticed the sound coming from behind the tree, she looked over and saw a boy sleeping with a book on his face.
"Oh that's where the sound came from, He was sleeping here.", "But, how did he found this place anyways?"
She then noticed that the book was from her favorite author; it was a volume that she haven't read before.
(note: she's a bookworm)
She then got the idea to recruit him by force, so she approached the boy;
at his rightside, and tried to look, but the book covering his face made it hard to tell who, he was. "I'll just give him a good shake, then ask him" as she tried to proceed.
"No, I shouldn't that would be rude, but then it is also wrong to let him miss classes", she reached out again, "No, I shouldn't; I don't even know who this person is, but then again he's probably a big fan of Shiroyuki just like me; I'll never know.. hmmmm.... Uh! just a peak then" as she reached her hand out to the book.
The boy said "Could you keep it down, I'm trying to sleep here.", Red was surprised.
The Boy sat up "Well, now I can't get any sleep anymore. What time is it?", Red replied"Oh! um... its 1:34!?",
(Boy) "Hm.. an hour after lunch" he then stood, (Red) "Wait!, where are you going?",
(Boy) "Going out to eat" as he grabs his basket,
(Red) "But then what about classes", He then stops and looks at her, (Boy) "You know it's saturday, right?",
Red was too surprised that she didn't believe; the boy had to show his phone, to prove it.
(Note: The school was a boarding school, and she woke up late)
[When she was finally convince and already left the secret part of the garden]
(Red) "Well, I made a fool out of myself",
as her stomach growled,
(Red) "And now I made a myself into much more bigger fool",
Wolf then pulled out two sandwiches from his basket and offerred it, and said "Nah... We all make mistakes some times, and a bit hungry, but here you can these"
Red's eyes widen a bit as if she was surprised.
(Red) "Thank you",
(Boy) "It ain't much, but ok".
Red takes a bite on the sandwiches and thought [Wow, their delicious]
She then asked him for his name, but he just answered with "People just call me Wolf", (Red, frustrated) "Well in that case you could call me Red; thats what my Friends call me",
Wolf smiled and grinned a bit but it wasn't noticeable "Yeah... I already knew; you with that red hoodie, red glasses, and to top it all off your red ribbons tied to your braids. Well that was a nice chat, good bye!"
(Red, a bit embarrassed) "Hey wait-" but someone then grabbed her by the hand; it was Jill, one of Red's friend
[note: Jill is a girl, jill is short for Jillianne; is also a member of the nobility]
(Jill) "Red with all due respect, you should stay away from people like him, haven't you heard that's 'Wolf'!; he's called that because of his white-silver hair, and that he has very violent personality "
(Red) "Oh... Ok", though she was not convinced and turned around to find Wolf, but he was no longer there.
[Monday, morning]
In the middle of class, she thought to herself [I don't think, he's that bad of a person (remembering the encounter, and the sandwiches)], she then remembers all of the things that Jill, and other rumors said about Wolf, ["Didn't you know, He's been known for destroying school property, stealing valuables, and not only did he pick fights with nobles, but also harassed women...."], (Red) "If he really did all of those things, isn't he supposed to be expelled or imprisoned right now".
She also thought about the book, [Yesterday, I have checked all the bookstores I know, but there were none that had Volume 3 of Life's a book]
(The bell rings)
The teacher dismissed the class for lunch. Red, Jill and their group of friends were headed to the cafeteria,
(Sophia) "I wonder what's on the menu for today", (Arielle) "I don't know, but I hope that they made Paella today. How about you, Lady Jill?", (Jill) "I'll just have today's soup and bread, like usual",
Red at the time was reading a book, Jill then asked Red the same question, she replied "I haven't decided yet, but I think I'll just have something light for today; I'm still looking for members, for my club, but I wouldn't want to abuse my posi-",
Out of nowhere, she suddenly bump into someone that was also reading a book.
They both drop their books, It was a boy; that wears a black hoodie, a white scarf, a surgical mask, and black glasses.
they picked their books up and he apologized with the highest sincerity, Red accepted his apology "It's ok, I'm fine".
As the boy left, (Sophia) "Wasn't That Gerald, from our class", (Ariel) "Wait!, we have a classmate named Gerald?", (Sophia) "How rude, but he is always so quiet during class; I always thought he was mute", (Jill) "Well.... Because he was so quiet, I also forgot that he was in our class; the last time I heard him speak, it was the welcoming ceremony"
Red was going to continue reading, but noticed that the book wasn't her's and that it was the same volume as Wolf's,
Red told her friends "Excuse me, you could go on ahead",
they wondered why but they just replied "We'll be waiting by the usual spot, if your still coming", (Red) "I'll catch up, if I can" as she left swiftly looking for Gerald.
She asks around, this time looking for Gerald. Even though Red gave a proper description, she still barely had a clue where Gerald went.
On the corner of her eye she saw a white scarf, when she chased after it.
[She ended up at the Garden]
Their she saw the back of a boy holding a book, wearing the hood of the black hoodie, a white scarf that she confrimmed was the same pattern.
Red Called out to the boy "Wolf, Is this your book", he checked the book in his hands; he turned around, with the mask taken off and his glasses in hand.
The person she saw....
it was really Wolf.
[Alone in the Garden]
(Wolf) "Yes, it's my book, and how did you tell it was me", Red proudly said "Women's intuition", Wolf doubts that and thought to himself [It's her again]
Wolf asked "[I don't want to be involve again,
I bet that the others are just nearby] Are you alone", She got confused, yet curious and replied not even looking away "Yes!?, why you ask", (Wolf) "Nothing" thinks to himself [Based on that reaction, it seems she's telling the truth], but he still doubted her.
Looking at her straight to the face with eyes that glared daggers, Red asked "are you ok?", (Wolf) "I'm fine, why you ask",
Red went up to his face, looking back at him, straigth in the eyes, "Well.... while looking into your eyes, I could tell that their's something bothering you", she said with a sympathetic tone.
Wolf was flustered and looked away, in an effort to change the subject; he said "Can I have it back, the book I mean", she was going to return it, but decided "If you join my club, I'll return it to you", Wolf asked with a regretful tone "Do you REALLY want me in your club?",
Red replied with confidence and sincerity "Of course!, why wouldn't I",
Wolf was shocked [I can't tell if she's lying or not], he bows "Fine, I am Gerald Grand Lupian", while bowwing [But if she isn't lying], he smiles but hides it.
Red smiled and bowwed "And, I am the president of the book club, My name is Charlotte Redrose Wisteria; it's nice to meet you",
Wolf cringend "Though everyone already knows who you are, it's also nice to meet you, princess",
Red was so happy to finally get another member for the club that she loved so much, but she was still curious as to how wolf found the secrect part of the garden. She tried to ask "Um, Gerald?", (Wolf) "Yes, princess charlotte?".
[already returned each other's books]
(The bell ranged)
(Wolf) "Looks like it's time for class",
(Red) "Indeed should we go", so they walked back to the classroom together. As they walked Wolf was putting on his mask and hood, he was asked why he wears so much.
Wolf was silent for a while, but he then replied "This isn't really the right place, how about I'll tell you next time", they walked in silence for a while; Red was still curious so she asked "How about later in the clubroom?",
Wolf looked back at her [I think?....
I could trust this person].
Wolf was asking himself; if he would really join the club, but after what just happened the question that he asked himself change and he replied "So where's the clubroom?", Red smiled and answerer "In Amber building, room 105"
[Later that Afternoon]
Wolf (glasses off, unmasked, and hoodie tied to his waist) was walking through the crowd, they were gossiping about him ("Hey, did you hear-", "Shh, he's right there", "why is he here", "was he called in again"), but soon a teacher came and made them go away. The teacher looked at Wolf, as he was heading to the Head of the School's office.
[The Head's Office]
Infront of Wolf was the Head's office door, he knock on the door and opened it; there he was greeted by the Headmaster.
(Headmaster) "Afternoon, Gerald what brings you here, or should I say Shiroyuki?", (Wolf) "Afternoon Sir, I'm here to turn in my club application form", Headmaster "Oh! I see, wait really?", suprised and asked "What club?", (Wolf) "The Book Club", (Headmaster) "Hmm... finally you joined a club; you had me worried, and here I thought you'll never have friends", (Wolf) "Sorry for worrying you, Sir",
(Headmaster) "Nah!, It's fine, but you don't have to be formal, when we're alone, you know",
(Wolf) "But sir, you're the headmaster and my boss",
(Headmaster) "But we're Friends, right?",
Wolf gave in but replied "Fine, but I'll still call you Sir", Headmaster jokingly said "hmm, how about 'Dad'?".
Wolf instantly replied "That's sad, and you know it", it was super effective.
(Headmaster) "That's harsh, but I did see it coming, hehe...",
(Wolf) "Bye, Sir"
(Headmaster) "Is that all?, bye".
Wolf already left through the door, but he just remembered the other reason he was there, so he went back inside.
(Headmaster) "Oh!, back already"
Wolf embrassed trys to shrug it off "Here's the copy you let me, I liked the cover and their aren't any problems",
(Headmaster) "That's good; the best part of being your editor, is that I can read your work before it's out",
(Wolf) "Sir, can I ask you something?",
(Headmaster) "Sure, go ahead",
(Wolf) "Can I have this copy",
(Headmaster) "I can't think of a reason, why you can't" (Wolf) "Can I borrow a pen", (Headmaster) "Sure!, here you go".
The Headmaster notices what Wolf was doing, he asked Wolf "Who's it for",
Wolf was nervous for a second but still replied "A friend", (Headmaster) "A 'Friend' , I see", but he still asked "Is this 'Friend' a member of the book club".
Wolf answered hesitantly "Yes...", the Headmaster stands up and puts his hand on Wolf's shoulder "She's a girl, am I correct?",
Wolf was left speechless and clicked his tounge "-tch",
The Headmaster laughs hysterically while saying "Well, you are at that age" and still continued laughing, Wolf left almost immediately.
When Wolf already left, the headmaster wiped the tears off his eye, and thought out loud "It's a good thing, Gerald started trusting others again".
