Chapter 3: Down the Rabbit hole
Mateo landed with a thud and dust flying in the air.
His hair obscuring his face as he groans in pain. He was seriously contemplating his life choices, and that was something considering he is just ten years old.
Holding himself up, he coughs and swat his hair away and tried to look around, only for a large book to drop itself on his head.
"Ow!"
Mateo laid flat on the floor with his head throbbing. Seeing stars in his eyes, he nursed his head and stared at the book that was just dropped.

Glaring at the book, he looks up and saw high walls stretching high up as he can see.
Strangely, despite having no light source anywhere, he can see the place he falls in and the book and flashlight clearly. But everything else in this place is covered in darkness.
Touching the ground, he discovers that it is made of animal pelt. "Am I really inside my backpack? How did this happen? I didn't remember adding functions like these...", he said in disbelief, only to nurse his head again.
Quickly opening the book, he searches for a healing spell and quickly cast it on himself. Green glow emits on his hand as he touches his head and heals it. Not feeling any bumps on his head, Mateo sigh in relief.
He started walking around, only to trip and unwittingly poured magic into the floor as a sudden reaction.
Suddenly, as if reacting to his magic, a light glow appeared on the spot where he pushed some magic. Then, it quickly spreads and glowing runes appeared above before shooting away in two directions. Light flooded and as Mateo turn his gaze back, he can now see everything around him.
Pieces of furniture and different objects are strewn all over the place. Seeing food in another corner, he walks towards it and inspect the food.
"I placed a stasis function on this bag so that all things put inside will be unchangeable over time. It also makes any living creatures or moving objects still like a statue...but seeing that I'm here moving, I now doubt its functionality", he muttered as he picks up a sandwich.
Hmm...I can't break a piece from it. But it's still soft to touch.
Mateo curiously pushed some magic into the sandwich and suddenly an electric-like ripple pulse and covered the sandwich. It now became warm.
A gurgling sound came from Mateo's stomach and without further ado, he took a bite from the sandwich.
"So...", he mused as he chews, "the stasis works", he paused as he takes another bite. "Just have to put some magic though...", he added as he finished the last bite. Burping loudly, Mateo look for a bottle of water and after zapping some magic, he drunk it all.
"Ah...", he sighs in contentment.
Eyes wandering, he saw the animals and beasts that were also sucked inside the bag. Upon closer look, they were still as a statue. Grabbing a little chick, he poured some magic and electric glow rippled on its whole body before the chick flaps its little wings, chirping as it did so. Placing the chick back to where he took it, another ripple of electric glow appeared and the little chick became still as a statue.
"Huh.…", he muttered raising his eyebrows as he did so. Stumbling about a bunch of bags, he scrambled for it as he searches his bag he has when he was taken. Clutching his bag, he opens it and took out the things inside. Turning to the other bags, he also emptied them all out. Gazing at the gadgets and knickknacks on the floor, he zaps them all with magic. He turned one on and to his surprise, they still have their charges.
Upon turning it, a loud sound came out.
"Backpack~ Backpack~, Everything that you will need I got it all for you..."
Black lines appeared on Mateo's head. It seems that this tablet belongs to the younger kids. With the bgm of Explorer Girl's backpack ringing out, the ground suddenly shakes making Mateo stumble.
Outside, the backpack shakes and wiggles its straps as it seems to enjoy what it is hearing.
Mateo stops the video and the ground stopped shaking. Looking around, he played the video again and the shaking continued before tapping the stop button again. "Huh....", he muttered in contemplation as the shaking stop. Turning on the other devices, he searches for more videos and he noticed that it didn't make the place shake when he plays it. But upon playing the explorer girl's video with the Backpack singing, the place started shaking again. When the song stop, it stops shaking. Rewinding to the song, the shaking continues before he stops it again.
"Huh...My backpack likes the song... Neat"
Zeroing at the cartoons and anime playing, Mateo was sucked into a rabbit hole, forgetting what he was supposed to do as most of the kids his age group does.
