Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Death

"My next destination is..."

"Shadow Isles."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A-Are you sure? I've heard stories about the place and... Are you really sure?" Ekko said, repeated once more time.

"Yes, I need to go there. I must..." Syrme said, looking to the quest in the System.

[ Quest: Shadow Isles. StP= 50,000,000 ]

-Discover why the black mist surrounds the Shadow Isles.

-?

'My ticket to home.'

"I see..." Ekko said, understanding the issue was more than it seemed. He chose to be silent. If his friend didn't want to dwell on the matter, he wasn't going to be a jerk to him.

They ended the tour not even an hour ago, and they were already going to the gang's place at the Sump Level. Syrme decided to move to Shadow Isles when he finishes the process of animagi. Walking to the destination, they talked and chat about anecdotes of the past and stories about their home. Ekko explained the current state of Zaun and their most unpleasant residents, such as Singed, Dr.Mundo, and Viktor. And in exchange, he talked about the situation in England.

Except for the travelling between universes part, of course.

They were already reaching the place when Syrme noticed his instinct telling him that someone was watching them.

"Ekko, why don't you go see the others first. I need to go to the motel to pick up my things." Syrme said.

"Okay, bring more of those Crispy Chickens you made earlier. They were delicious..." He said drooling.

When Ekko disappeared in the corner of the street, Syrme calmly strolled to the motel. But the presence was persistent and vigilant. He didn't know what the presence wanted, but his instinct was telling him it was nothing good.

'Someone noticed my presence when I arrived? But who in Zaun could have noticed?' Syrme thought, frowning.

'Maybe he is not from Zaun? Was I already being sensed in other parts of Runeterra? In such a hurry, they want to dispose of me? Or, is it because of something else?' Syrme reinforced his ears to hear what the stranger was doing.

"Is him. What... is he? He isn't connected to the strings of Runeterra!" The female voice said to someone near.

"Speak lower, little Lamb. I think the prey knows we are following him. For some reason, I cannot think of him as food. Like he is protected from us! But that is impossible. If he is protected from 'us', it means he is protected from-" A rough and deep voice answered the female belly one.

"Death. Yes, but I don't believe he is protected from death, he somehow cut the strings of fate from him. I cannot see the ones marked with death. The other ones are unclear. We won't know when he will die! That is inconceivable!" She pressed to her partner.

"Then, we go hunting?" The Wolf replied, anxious. He couldn't endure one more second without his daily hunt.

"Begin your hunt."

Meanwhile, after recognising the nature of the conversation. Syrme was thinking about what to do.

'They are Kindred, the representations of Death. Can they still die if they are death itself? Will I have to run forever from them?'

'If they think I'm going to let them hunt me forever, they have got another thing coming!' Syrme thought, activating the Sharingan.

Syrme quickly ran through the streets, taking turns with extreme speed and momentum. Kindred noticed this, and send 'Wolf' ahead to smell the trail.

They chased Syrme with precision and agility.

Syrme then jumped in the roofs, trying to make a distance from Kindred. He needed to think of a place to face Kindred without having to destroy important or 'living' things.

'Could I separate them? If so, How?'

Kindred reached him, jumping with subtlety and Wolf phasing through the chimneys and rooftops.

"Lamb! He is not afraid! Prepare the bow!" Wolf warned.

When they were close, he hid and waited until they appeared. When he saw a little of white fur from the corner of his eyes, he made several hand signs.

Two weeks ago, when he discovered he had two affinities. He put his chakra training to cover a lot of techniques of such elements. With his almost kage level reserves, this kind of abilities didn't put much strain on his body. They also were much easier to learn now that he understood several concepts of 'magic energy'.

'Raikiri!' Million birds suddenly terrorised the residents of the vicinity.

Sharingan activated, he raced to the Lamb as fast as lightning and his tunnel vision became much clearer thanks to the Doujutsu. Just when he was going to pierce her shoulder, she inclined to the side.

She then tumbled to the other side and shooted three consecutive arrows. But, after shooting the arrows, she let a pained gasp of surprise and held her left side of her stomach. A stray ray of lighting from the attack pierced her. If she weren't wearing a mask, he would have seen the understanding, shock and dread in the depth of her eyes.

Someone with magic from Runeterra only would have left a little scratch. Pure energy like chakra...

"Careful Lamb, he can truly harm us. If he gets us, Runaterra will have to choose another avatar from death. And I don't want to end my huntings!" The Wolf finished enraged.

Syrme dodged easily thanks to the telegraphic and slow movements the Sharingan provided. He made a cross with his fingers, and one more Syrme joined the fight. The clone and Syrme scaped, one to the deeper levels of Zaun and the other to the uppers.

"Wolf! Don't go! Think straight! He can harm us, and if we separate, it isn't going to go well!" The Lamb advised his other half.

But the wolf was frenzy right now, and he chose to follow the one who smelled better. Sadly for the Lamb, Syrme already thought of this and implanted a Genjutsu in his clone to make him feel fear.

The wolf was already going directly to Piltover.

"How can he separate from me? What did you do to him! Even if he is enraged, he wouldn't dare to separate himself from me!" The Lamb yelled at him, with a hint of panic in her voice.

The plan was a Genjutsu for the clone to feel fear and for the Wolf to smell it.

And another suggestive Genjutsu to the Wolf for when his other half talked, he only heard a gust of wind in his ears.

'I thought it wasn't going to work.' Syrme thought with a smile. They stopped at the top of the remoted buildings of the Entresol Level.

'Katon: Karyu Endan! (Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Missile)' Doing the hand signs for the technique, he inhaled and concentrated all the chakra he could in his lungs. His lungs soon expanded, clearly filled with Fire Chakra.

And he let out the stream of fire, directly to Kindred.

She knew she didn't have time to dodge. So before she became a roasted Lamb, the mask of her face changed colours from dark blue to emerald green, indicating the activation of a skill.

The fire became hotter and prolonged. Instead of a stream of red, the fire soon became white.

Still not finishing, Syrme gathered even more chakra into his exhaling mouth.

The roof tiles started to melt to an incredible speed. The surrounding chemicals in the air now turned into smoke, and the night-black sky turned into orange dawn. If someone were to look into the sky, they wouldn't even for a moment think it was late at night.

Ending the Jutsu, he took out his katana from his inventory and coated it with lightning.

The Lamb was still in his line of sight. Her fur now was black and burned; she was trembling and struggling to stand on her hooves.

"Even with my Blessing Respite, I still have this kind of damage." She said somberly.

Syrme didn't let the Lamb get a grip on herself, and he launched into her. But a black blur collided with the trajectory of the slash.

Wolf was now next to his partner. Eyes full of madness and violence.

He disappeared in a blink, jaws pouncing onto him, trying to chop his head.

Syrme dodge yet again. Still standing in the danger zone from the Wolf attack, he threw his sword in the air and made another combination of hand signs.

'Suiton: Suijinheki (Water Release: Water Wall)' Throwing the torrent of water to the Wolf and the Lamb, he jumped high, heading towards the sword he threw earlier. When he reached the sword, he coated it with Lightning again and threw it into the water wall he was supporting with chakra.

The water wall stopping them from moving.

Getting them wet.

You put lightning into the mix and...

Screams from the duo were overheard from all Zaun.

Scorched and electrocuted, they fell into the floor.

Syrme took the sword and put it in the inventory again.

He was headed towards the Lamb when-

"Wait." The voice of the exhausted and harmed Wolf stopped him.

"We will not hunt you anymore. You are an anomaly to Runeterra, so we thought about removing it. We... we'll leave you alone. Don't harm little Lamb." The Wolf said.

Syrme let out a chuckle from his lips.

"I wasn't going to kill you or anything like that. I was going to bind both of you and wait for you to wake up and explain why would you want to kill me. Then I was hoping to reach an agreement. It seems you are more reasonable than I thought, Wolf." Syrme smiled.

"Damned prey..." Wolf whined.

"But, if you chose to hunt me again, I will have no mercy." Syrme said.

"Give this to your little Lamb, and in the morning, she will be healed." Syrme gave a Senzu Bean to the Wolf.

"Since now, you will be an exception to our hunts, Anomaly." Wolf declared.

"I sure hope so." Syrme said, walking away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Where were you!? You missed it, dude!" Ekko said just when he came in.

"Oh..." He scratched his head, with a pink hue in his cheeks for being discovered. He didn't realise the fight was near the road to the Sump Level.

"Minutes later of you going to pick up your things, there was a massive fire in the Entresol Level!" He exclaimed.

"The barons and the couriers were totally freaking out!" He said, laughing.

"What I would pay for seeing their faces! I was hoping someday someone installed fear in those rich hypocrites." Ekko sighed. "Maybe this way, they'll stop trying to put us with so much shit in the next week. They all will be busy trying to reconstruct that zone."

"Yeah..." Syrme said.

The zone was burned out. But, if he chose to fight in the middle of the streets, instead of the rooftops...

'I don't think the streets and the people in it would survive.'

'At least, this way there weren't any victims.'

"Now, what were you saying before about teaching us new tricks?" Ekko asked.

Syrme smirked.
