Chapter 15: Unbearable Rewards.
Days passed with Arthur was lying in the ashes of the bear, other magical beasts in the area were too scared to approach Arthur, all except a tiny version of the bear he had just killed, which after 3 days of observing the monster that had killed its mother, it walked up to the unconscious Arthur and bit him.
The eastern sky started to become bright, and when the first rays of sunlight shined upon the body of Arthur, he lightly breathed out, stood up, and straightened his back. Right now his eyes were filled with determination. He had already experienced the law of the jungle of the world in his previous incarnation, since this was the natural law, then he would have to become strongest and stand on the top of the pyramid of this world. At that time, he would have a final say in all the rules of the world, like his father before him.
While he was planning out his goals in his head, he failed to notice the tiny Earth bear that was standing near him. It cautiously approached Arthur from behind and pounced on his leg, taking a small bite out of it. Arthur's ring healed the wound however the pain alerted him to the small bear.
Arthur pulled the bear off of his leg and put it down on the floor, he then knelt so that he was eye level with the bear, showing his scar to it before saying" If that was your Mother I just killed then I'm sorry for my actions. I, like you, have no real mother in this world however your Mother would have killed me and my friend if I had not protected us. You are welcome to come with me if you wish, I will feed and raise you until you are able to defend yourself, when that time comes you will be allowed to leave or stay, the choice will be yours."
While the little bear made a decision, Arthur went to the cave where he had put Si Bi to find it empty, Arthur smiled and thought that if they were meant to meet again then fate would make it happen. Arthur then remembered that he needed a new way to get to the light city, suddenly, like a flash of light, he remembered the speech of Si Bi in which she had said that, if there really was any kind of real flying magic spell, then that magic spell would definitely fall under the category of wind element magic.
Remembering that cyan coloured wind attributed magic elements inside his sea of consciousness, Arthur got agitated. Wind is king of speed, so if one had learnt the wind element magic, and encountered the dangerous situation, then one could have at least very high chance to save one's life.
*Arthur I suggest you meditate before you try and fly, you need to consolidate the magical power I have collected for you while you fought the bear and while you were out cold. You need to keep your rage in check in the future, your family has the blood of Dragons in it, as a half-breed between the two, your abilities will be unstable until you grow in strength. If that Si Bi girl was still here when you fought the bear she would have been consumed by the flames as well.*
Arthur stood there and bitterly smiled at the message Sara delivered to him, he now knew that he needed to gain as much strength as fast as possible. he instantly threw himself onto the floor of the cave and began heavily meditating.
A day passed with Arthur still in meditation, his concentration was broken when the little bear bit his arm, waking up from his state of concentration, Arthur looked at the bear and asked" So are you coming with me?"
The bear slowly nodded its head and sat next to Arthur, Arthur opened his storage ring and took a small amount of the cooked rabbit out from it, surprised it was still fresh he gave it to the bear. The bear happily ate the meat and walked up to Arthur and sat on his lap. Arthur smiled at this and decided he would dedicate some more time to learning the theory behind magic in this world.
Then under the soft light of illumination magic, Arthur started to browse through the book shelves inside his space ring. His main target was naturally magic books. Arthur searched out various elements' elementary and intermediate magic books. He even discovered a dark element magic book which was at one corner of book shelves and that book unexpectedly turned out to have all elementary, and intermediate magic spells.
A dozen or so thick magic books were placed in front of him, then Arthur eagerly started to flip through these books. Till now all his magic knowledge source was still those elementary magic books he had read at the beginning, so his magic knowledge and principle could be described as extremely poor.
Little by little, the time elapsed, Arthur was completely immersed in these books the whole time, his reading speed was getting faster and faster and his eyeball was moving top to bottom so frequently that, it was enough to dazzle people.
"Ah, I'm all worn out." Arthur finally finished reading intermediate magic of dark element, then he stretched his back bones.
Arthur was dumbfounded, he turned his head and looked at the pile of books which he had already completely read on the floor for a while, then thought, "Did I finish reading all those books in less than a single night time?"
The little bear nodded its head,Arthur quickly rushed to the pile of books, then he picked up an intermediate magic book on the fire element, and flipped it, then he discovered that the whole content of this book was already in his mind, without a single error.
"Could it be that it's already been several days, but was I so immersed in reading book that before I noticed, several days had already passed away?" Arthur thought inside his heart.
Very quickly, Arthur no longer thought about these useless things. Although he remembered all of the content in these books, he only remembered it, he had yet to digest it all.
Now Arthur knew that magic is not simply divided into elementary, intermediate and advanced. Rather it had a lot more division than he thought, every kind of magic was divided into 11 ranks based on its power and magic power consumption. Among them, up to rank 3 belong to elementary magic, rank 4 to 6 belongs to intermediate magic, rank 7 to 9 belongs to advanced magic, rank 10 belongs to saint level magic, and rank 11 generally belongs to forbidden magic spells, the forbidden ranked magic was extremely powerful that it could topple the mountains and overturns the seas and also had the might to destroy the heaven and exterminate the earth.
The fire ball magic spell of fire element, water ball magic spell of water element and so on all belongs to a rank 1 magic spell. Usually Apprentice Magicians can only use these rank 1 magic spells, Beginner Magicians had the ability to grasp at least rank 2 magic spells, and with great difficulty could also use rank 3 magic spells. Intermediate Magician had the ability to grasp at least rank 3 magic spells, and with great difficulty can use rank 4 magic spells. Advanced Magician had the ability to grasp at least rank 6 magic spells, and with great difficulty can use rank 7 magic spells.
From rank 7 magic spells, it's a beginning of dividing line, to be able to cast rank 8 magic spells, one needs to be at least Master Magician. To be able to cast rank 9 magic spells, one needs to be at least Mage. To be able to cast rank 10 Saint level magic spells, one needs to be at least Archmage and finally to cast rank 11 forbidden magic spells, one needs to be at least Master Archmage. The last two represents the pinnacle of the magical domain and power.
Arthur made sure that his little companion had enough food for a few days and entered meditation again, this time spending a few days in a deep trance. After a few days, Sara said
*Level up complete, completed Hidden quest: Slay the Earth bear and protect Si Bi, Rewards: 1000 exp, +40 Relations with Si Bi (+50) and 1 lottery ticket.*
Arthur smiled, stroking the bear's fur, he said" Display my status and use the lottery ticket."
