I don't know what woke me up but if I didn't both #2 and I would be dead, because when I did I saw what was known as a Cave Stinger, a scorpion the size of a wolf and with a strong enough poison to kill a horse easily, as it slowly skittered out of the darkness of the tunnel straight towards us. I knew it was coming straight for us since it's pitch black compound eyes were staring into my soul.
Quickly I shoved #2 to wake them up and launched [Spit] repeatedly at the Stinger before I did anything else, it was still far away at the mouth of the tunnel but I know how fast they can be so I wasted no time at all sending attacks at it.
When #2 rouses and they see that I am attacking something #2 springs up and starts launching volley after volley of [Spit] with me, the globs of mucus land on the stinger but it has enough strength to tear through them or rather they aren't big enough to stop it.
The Stinger is enraged that it's being attacked by both #2 and I so it charged at us with an incredible speed, however #2 and I manage to evade the attack at the last moment with hardly a moment to recover before it starts it's onslaught. To survive I am forced to keep jumping, rolling and back stepping to avoid the pincers and stinger which each miss me by a hair's breadth each time.
If I am caught by the pincers I could be cut in half, if I am struck by the stinger I will die in seconds by the poison, the enemy is just that dangerous this time I can feel it in my bones and yet I have to be thankful that I am the one it chose to attack first since if it was #2 we both would have died and I would have lost any chance to win because now that the Stinger is focused on me #2 comes from behind and clamps down on the Stinger's tail with it's [Bite]. When the Stinger is bitten it flails about wildly to try to shake off #2 which causes me to almost lose the front half of my face to it's large pincers, however #2 still holds on for dear life because once #2 lets go, the Stinger would surely turn on them.
While avoiding the chaotically swinging pincers I ready my [Spit] for the slight opening the Stinger will make when it's tail is bitten off, as I'm waiting for #2 to chew through the thick exoskeleton on the Stinger. During the monster's rampage #2 gets slammed into a large rock but at that time #2 finishes biting through the tail and tosses it to the side, the Stinger lifts up it's pincers and begins to turn towards #2 and once it turns to the side I aim at the gap between it's pincers coating the green mucus all over the multiple eyes of the Stinger. Still it isn't finished yet so I [Charge] at the Stinger and [Bite] down with all my strength at the joint of the large pincer. #2 follows up almost at the same time that I attack and together we tear off the last of the Cave Stinger's weapons, from the wounds a thick yellow liquid oozes out almost like we tapped a keg filled with honey and the now helpless Cave stinger thrashes about emitting a high pitched shriek all the while. As not to let our guard down #2 and I continue to launch volleys of [Spit] until the Stinger can no longer move, I activate [Bite] and begin crunching the thick carapace of it's back and #2 uses [Claw] to slice off the legs. Soon the once menacing Cave Stinger is reduced to nothing more than yellow goo and mangled body parts, #2 tries crunching on the remaining meaty bits and once I see them swallow some I stop them, we should let the others in the nest eat this before they starve.
{ Experience points maximum reached, your level has risen from 3 to 5, [Hp] +17, [Mp] +12, [Phys.] +5, [Vit.] +6, [Agi.] +3, [Int.] +2, [Res.] +4, the maximum level has been reached evolution is possible, an override has been enabled due to the title [???] all evolution lines are available, a new skill has been learned- [Evasion]}
Evasion- Agility scaling for reflexes and reaction time has been doubled.
Wow, I knew that this thing was stronger than us but to think that it was enough to put us to the level cap, but what did it mean about an override?
For now though we should try to get the meat from this guy into the nest for the others, although I said that, since #2 can't climb well it will be #2 passing the meat up to me and me tossing it up over the wall.
Climbing up the rock was fairly easy but when #2 passed me the main body I almost fell over so I made #2 to cut it into smaller portions, which I was able to throw those up and over the wall of the nest the others inside were surprised but #2 had said something to them when they started to cry out. We aren't able to see inside the nest so hopefully no one has started to eat each other yet though if they have I don't intend to blame them seeing as how their options were pretty limited, though if they had come out of the nest with us they would have been fine or maybe not considering the Cave Stinger and especially if there is more of those guys.
Since that is taken care of though lets get onto the evolution, I don't know what to expect seeing as how I used to be human but hopefully I can evolve into something with a strong end goal.
{Evolution is possible would you like to proceed?}
Of course
When I think so, a list that resembles a tree appears into my mind it is titled the [Dragon race evolution tree] and I read over the starting options which are things like Dragon Hatchling, Draconid Hatchling and the Drake Hatchling, from my previous knowledge Draconids are like Half blood dragons whose parent is a dragon or Draconid and they mostly have strong dragon features like wings, claws or scales but they can also be humanoid, and Drakes are a lesser species of dragon but are a lot more common.
Though once I begin to read through all the different paths of evolution that are available to me as a Dragon Hatchling I notice that in one of the trees there is a path with only [???] evolutions after about halfway through, and when I select one to read the information the message reads…
{This Evolution hasn't been achieved yet, when a successful evolution into this species has been achieved the first one to do so will receive a special title, and unlock the information of this species.}
Wait…
In this line more than half is filled with [???] so that means that no dragon has ever come close to the final evolution of this species, what is the farthest someone has gotten though?… something called a [Eclipse Dragon]… a dragon said to embody the solar and lunar eclipses, this species has the ability to bring forth darkness or daylight at will and can bestow minor blessings.
What the hell is with those abilities? it is only the 8th out of 17 evolutions and it is in a completely different tier compared to the other evolution lines like the metal dragons 8th evolution for instance, the [Alloy Dragon]- a dragon with scales that are made up of a unique, strong alloy of steel, it's scales can make strong *6 weapons.
Originally I wanted to go with a line that had a short but strong run like the [Water Dragon] line which ended with 9 evolutions at the great wyrm [Leviathan] but when I saw this one I started thinking that if I acquire all the unique titles from this line won't I end up even stronger than if I had completed the longest line, which is the metal dragons which has 19 evolutions. It bothers me that there hasn't been any dragon who has gotten further than [Eclipse Dragon] though, is there some kind of wall that prevents you from evolving easily or did the dragons simply die before they could evolve… they would especially be targeted by all the higher ranked adventurers if they were a rare species though.
Still the promise of the unique titles is something I can't pass up even if it sends an army after me! So I will evolve into the [Baby Twilight Dragon] and continue down the never before completed evolution line.
{[Baby Twilight Dragon] has been selected, will you evolve?}
As soon as I thought "yes" I lost consciousness.
When I woke up I looked over at #2 who seemed to also evolve, #2's scales became black with a light grey belly and the fleshy parts of it became a bright scarlet, in addition it's head grew more pointed with small rounded horns growing from behind it's head, it grew more and longer claws , longer and thicker arms and legs, a longer tail but most importantly #2 grew a small pair of wings on it's back which were way to small to actually lift it.
When I went to look at myself in the water's reflection my scales were a dark purple and my new horns, claws and my stomach were all black, the tail that was once about half my body size tripled in length, I grew large velvety wings, and my overall body size doubled but the best physical part about this was definitely my face no longer looks like a dopey cute animal but it is more serpent like in appearance with sleek smooth scales and bright purple eyes.
As I was admiring my new refined features #2 comes over and nudges me from behind lightly, trying to get my attention, since I'm in a good mood I will spoil #2 or maybe I should say that you have earned it after yesterday's battle?
After playing around with #2 I realized that I hadn't checked my status to see what else has changed and to check my next level cap or should I say level goal?

Though I am curious as to how the spare Attribute points are decided it might not be impactful later on with the current numbers… for now though I think I should just place them as I see fit.
Hello again, when i was writing this i had this feeling in my gut that was telling me something was missing but after spending almost 2 full days editing and rewriting that feeling just didn’t go away :(
Like i said before though i will have the first part of chapter 2 out tomorrow. Starting in chapter 2 we visit Ludger’s home, the Dungeon city of Messia! Also it will introduce a whole slew of supporting cast characters and a brief look into the ripples after Ludger’s death.
