Chapter 17: Ch. 1.16 who is the mouse
Disconnecting the call, Kaidan decided to torment Miles before dinner. He wants him to be cornered. He wants him to be cowering in fear before getting him lock up. He doesn't want to kill him. Killing him would be granting him mercy. Miles doesn't want his name to be drag down, so he will do everything to do it.
Logging in his AI— his AI will automatically erase any trace pointing to him— he again hacked Miles computer.
"DO YOU KNOW THEM?" he message attaching the photo of this bodies parents. Another reason why he despise Miles so much, if he did not run and instead help them, they might be still alive.
Monitoring the man on his built-in camera, he can see how his face become so pale, so white like their is no blood.
"GARRET PATRICK, 10 YEARS AGO, YOU KILLED THEM IN A CAR ACCIDENT. INSTEAD OF CALLING FOR HELP AND CHECKING THEM, YOU DECIDED TO RUN."
Miles expression while looking at the words on his computer is like someone who sees a ghost. 'Impossible, nobody is suppose to know his true name, Garret Patrick is dead!'
" YOU KILLED MILES PRATT, FALSIFIED THE DOCUMENTS MAKING HIM BECOME YOU. I REALLY PITY THE MAN, ORPHAN AT A YOUNG AGE, USE HIS BRAIN TO HAVE A SCHOLARSHIP, SUCH BRIGHT MIND. JUST TO BE KILLED BY SOMEONE LIKE YOU!."
"shut up! I'm Miles Pratt. Garret Patrick died in that accident." Miles shouted, looking at the computer. looking like a insane man mumbling 'Garret Patrick is dead' while walking back in forth.
"ARE YOU SURE? WHAT IF I SAY TO YOU THAT SOMEONE SEE YOU THAT DAY, KILLING A PERSON WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE TO HELP. YOU ARE WEARING A BLUE SHIRT AND A BLACK PANTS, YOU KILLED MILES AND EVEN DRIVE AWAY USING HIS CAR. YOU ARE ROTTEN TO THE CORE GARRET PATRICK! "
" who are you? What do you want? " Miles doesn't know what to do. He doesn't want to believe this person, he doesn't even remember his clothes that time but what if, what if somehow, someone really witness his crime. 'I will not take any chances, what does this really wants with me? He didn't ask or tried blackmailing me?'
" WE ARE PLAYING CAT AND MOUSE, YOU ARE THE MOUSE! I'M GOING TO PLAY WITH YOU TO MY HEARTS CONTENT, THEN, I'LL EAT YOU."
Reading that context, Miles whole body quickly go cold, cold sweat drops down from his face. He is afraid; afraid of this one, peering at his daily life, monitoring his move yet he cannot see.
" I'M A GHOST OF YOUR PAST, NIGHTMARE OF YOUR FUTURE. YOU WILL KNOW ME WHEN THE RIGHT TIME COMES... I WILL LOOK FOR YOU, I WILL SEE YOU AND BY THAT TIME, I HOPE YOU WILL BE READY."
" WHEN I MEET SOMEONE, I GIVE THEM SOME GIFTS — A MEETING GIFT. I WILL GIVE YOURS; YOU'RE SON IS NOT WHO HE REALLY IS. IF YOU'RE REALLY SMART THEN YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT. GOOD BYE MY FRIEND. TILL NEXT TIME"
" Hey! What are you doing? " James asked. Kaidan is sitting on the breakfast bar looking at his wristwatch but the device is not even opened.
James inquiring voice brings kaidan back into the reality. Eyeing the man getting different container from a restaurant bag.
" I'm just thinking something." he can't really see that he is operating his AI because nobody can see the hologram than him.
"Next week, let's take a vacation." Kaidan said. glancing the man who is busy on eating his food. They are now in the entertainment den eating their food while watching some news reports.
"Where?" James quickly asked, facing the man sitting Indian style on the rug.
"We'll go back at the farm, linda—the caretaker is always asking you."
"That's normal, I'm better looking than you." James said, smiling at kaidan.
"Shameless! Erase that smug smile. you did not let me finish, she is asking you because your clothes and stuffs are now all moldy and she wants you to get it" This time the one who is smirking is kaidan. 'I'm is just making fun of James, don't blame me, he started it first.'
