Chapter 18: Rescue (3)
"Maria!" shouts Joshua. He uses his magic power to take out the bullets and Maria falls into Joshua embrace.
Professor Shane ignore his injuries and run towards Maria.
"How is it?" said Professor Shane.
"Not good the bullet is not an ordinary bullet. Even after I got it out, the residual energy still lingers and corrodes her heart slowly."
Kent moves towards Mikayla and Jack stops him. Kent makes a barrier and ready for any attack from Jack. Jack tilted his neck right and left then dash forward towards Kent.
"Three, bring Mikayla out from here," said Jack. He takes out his magic wand and shouts "Fire". Fire forms around him and the heat from it melt the ground. Jack point his magic wand towards Kent the fire attack Kent. Kent runs from the fire but the fire is faster than him.
"Cheh! I forgot that he is a dual magician. The wind element is helping to boost its speed." The fire hits Kent's barrier and it slowly dissolves because of the heat. "Damn!" Kent jumps and turn around in the mid-air and shoot Jack. He makes a gesture like slashing the air and a hole open. Using his the gun on his left hand he shoots downwards to make sure he stays in the air. He alternates between right hand and left hand to keep firing at Jack and adjust his trajectory in the air. He also keeps slashing at the air and opens many holes. Jack use his fire to counter the attack but the bullet falls to him like rain.
Jack saw that Kent kept slashing the air or you could say he is slashing the space. This is bad, Jack knows this is Kent favourite attack. Every hole that Kent slash is connected and Kent able to manipulate the bullet to appear from any of the holes. Kent also can control anything that enters the hole so if the enemy wants to use the hole then it only backfires them. Joshua split his fire and burn the hole and seal it. Seeing his space hole being seal Kent smile. "Let me show you my new trick."
The fire that seals the space holes start to dimmed and collapse. In front of the space holes, fire bullet has been conjured from the seal. Joshua faces grim seeing this. "Look like you upgrade your spells, impressive for someone with Grade D magic talent." Kent fires the bullet and Jack also makes a bullet from his fire to counter it. The collision from the bullets makes a small explosion. Smoke is so thick making it hard for them to breath and see the surrounding.
Jack use wind spell to dispel the smoke and found out that Kent is nowhere to be seen. Jack scan the surrounding and sure that Kent has left the room. He sees Maria is still with Joshua and Professor Shane. Professor Shane is feeding Maria with an anti-magic potion to counter the corrodes energy in her heart.
Jack run out of the room and going to Mikayla's room. On his way, he sees Three on the floor has being slice into two and no sign of Mikayla can be found.
"KENT!!! Ahhhh! You want to make us as your enemy don't you!" shouts Jack.
Kent and his people appear in front of a mansion. The mansion is filled with red roses. The rose is as red as blood. When the wind blows you can smell a faint of blood. Kent knocks the door and the sound of knocking echo inside the mansion. After that, the front door open and a pale old man greeted them.
"Hello, Sir Kent Maroon. It has been a while since your last visit," said Gerald.
"Yes, it has been a while, Gerald. I would like to meet your master Duke Alaric Blade," said Kent.
"Please come in, my master is expecting you," said Gerald.
Kent and his people enter the mansion. They are lead to a spacious room being decorated with Victorian styles.
"Sir Kent Maroon, your people will stay here while you are meeting with my master. I believe they need it," said Gerald as he glances towards Mikayla that is on Jeffry's back. Mikayla showed a weak smile towards Gerald.
Kent nodded at Gerald and go to meet Alaric. Inside the study, Alaric is reading a document. A knock comes from the door. "Enter."
"Master, Sir Kent Maroon is here," said Gerald.
"Alaric is been a while, my friend," said Kent.
"Kent! what brought you here." Alaric gets up from his chair and hugs Kent. Kent hugs him back and he hugs tightly. Sensing the hug getting tight Alaric put some pressure and the books and furniture inside the study is shaking.
Kent releases his hug and then Alaric does the same. They both brought into laughter.
"You are getting fatter my Duke. Hahahahaha," said Kent.
"You are the one that fatter. Hump. Is this how you treat your friend?" said Alaric.
"Okay...okay. I'm sorry," said Kent.
"Have a seat Kent, Gerald prepare some tea for our guest," said Alaric.
Kent sits in front of the table and Alaric sit in front of him.
"Alaric, I get straight to the point. I want you to take care of a child for me," said Kent.
Alaric did not show any shocking expression as if he already knows the reason for Kent visiting him.
"It is regarding that case?" said Alaric.
"Yes, that boy somehow connected to this case. The boy receives that monster heritage from his father," said Kent. "I don't want any victim because of that monster anymore. I will save as many as I can just like my promise to Katherine."
Alaric sigh hearing it. "Alright. Where is he?"
"He is in the room with my people."
Kent and Alaric go to the room to see Mikayla. Inside the room, all his people are enjoying cakes and sweets. After a mission, those people are hungry and excited seeing so much dessert. They rarely enjoy dessert because and only focus on high nutrition like rice, fish, meat and chicken. They eat food that able to make their stomach full and last longer. Now they are partying inside the room, thinking that their boss will have a long discussion like usual.
Seeing his people behaviour, Kent is fuming mad while Alaric is amused seeing those people and he almost laughs but restrains it to provide some dignity to his friend.
"Whaaaat... areeee...youuuu...doing? Enjoying yourself, are you? Hearing their boss voice they spit out their cakes and stand straight like a soldier. Mikayla enjoying his cakes startled and hurriedly stand with them.
"It is wrong to eat cakes and sweets? ask Mikayla. He tilted his head to see Kent and his friend.
"No. It is not wrong. Are you Mikayla?" asked Alaric.
"Yes," said Mikayla.
"Come with me to the study room. Kent will be busy for a while," said Alaric with a smile on his face. Mikayla turns to see Kent and he nods to him. Mikayla follows Alaric to the study room and after the door is closed behind him, he hears screaming like a pig being butcher from the room. He wants to enter but Alaric stops him.
"Let him be. Kent is a nice person but at the same time, he is a proud person. How can he tolerate his subordinate reckless behaviour in someone house," said Alaric. He is already giggling as soon he gets out from the room. If not he has to maintain his image he probably rolling on the ground laughing.
Alaric leads him to the study room. Mikayla sits on the chair in front of the table and he receives tea from Gerald.
"Prepares a room for young Mikayla. He will be staying with us," said Alaric. Gerald complied and go to prepare a room for Mikayla.
Mikayla is in puzzle hearing that and put down his teacup and before he could ask Alaric interrupts him.
"Kent will tell you after this. No need to worry." Mikayla continues to drinks his tea but feels a little bit uncomfortable because Alaric keeps gazing towards him.
Ten minutes later, Kent appears inside the study room and directly sit on the chair. He even pours tea for himself. After finishing two cups of tea he saw the dumbfounded look of Mikayla and his friend Alaric that try his best to hold his laughter.
"Laugh Alaric, laugh. Hump!" said Kent.
Receiving permission Alaric laugh so hard until tears running out from his eyes. Kent keeps his composure and pretending to be calm. Mikayla is not sure what to do whether to laugh or not so he takes a cookie and eating it with relish.
"Enough, did you want to be the first vampire to die from laughing?" said Kent.
Alaric stops laughing and prepares himself for a serious discussion. Alaric changes his demeanour so quickly that Mikayla is speechless seeing this. This is how a professional should act.
"We will be discussing regarding Mikayla that will be staying with the Blade family," said Kent.
