Chapter 14: Negotiation
Kent Maroon seeing the twins on the crib. He just stares at them with his mouth wide open.
"You know about this earlier don't you? said Kent.
"Yep! Hahahahaha. This is fun, I know it will be a pleasant surprise to you and Dr Dan." said Mikayla.
"I was shocked during the hatching process and not only the baby that shocked me but the oath you recites. What was that?" said Dr Dan.
Shrugged his shoulder "I don't know. It's never happened before Dr Dan?" said Mikayla.
"No, that is why I am asking you," said Dr Dan.
"It is a guardian oath. Only guardian that receive trust from the egg are able to recite the guardian oath," said Kent.
"Eh! how did you know? Even I the most reputable researcher in magical creature did not know!" said Dr Dan.
"This oath is rare even in the Wing Tribe. So, many did not know about this. I only know because I am being focused on investigating the Wing Tribe in this few years. When I went to ancient grounds of the Wing Tribe I meet an old man that talk about this. Many thought he is crazy." said Kent.
"Are there still people staying at the ancient ground? said Dr Dan.
"No, I just accidentally meet him there," said Kent.
"You should not trust easily what the old man telling you," said Dr Dan with a frown on his forehead.
"Of course I did not blindly trust him but now it happens and based on your description it's fit what the old man tells me," said Kent.
"It will not harm me and the twin, right?" said Mikayla.
"Based on what he told me, the oath is sacred and you are chosen, it probably will not harm you," said Kent.
"We'll see about it. I will monitor you and the twin condition in case somethings out ordinary happens again," said Dr Dan.
Kent and Dr Dan leaves the room and leaving only Mikayla and the twin together. The twin has been feed with milk so they are fast asleep. Mikayla lay on the bed, he is thinking about the hatching process. At that time he feels like he is being surrounded by a Wing Tribe. The sound of laughter echoed and he can feel their happiness. They are celebrating the babies, not one but many. He did not tell all of this to Dr Dan and Kent because his instinct told him to keep it himself. It is not the time yet.
In an office, "Reporting! Sir Joshua Kent Maroon and his company has been detected in the eastern region of this continent. He is the country of Chesire, in the Maroon family territory," said Ian
"Mmm, it's great I know he will not get out from this continent easily. Kent Maroon, he is such a hassle, depending on his family privilege so we cannot do anything to him," said Joshua.
"Sir, we can't arrest Kent Maroon but we can demand Mikayla," said Ian.
"If this matter can solve easily then it's good but knowing Kent for all these years he will not give us the boy," said Joshua.
"We can directly demand Mikayla from the head of the Maroon family," said Ian.
"I wonder after what happen he want any dealings with me," said Joshua.
"If you did not do the foolish thing before then, we will not have the Maroon family bad side," said Jack.
"Have you been infected by that Kyle? Don't you know how to knock the door Jack?" said Joshua.
"You are too engrossed in your discussion that you did not hear me. Apologise for being rude. I come after hearing you have information about Mikayla," said Jack.
"Yes but the problem is with Kent," said Joshua.
"Our objective is Mikayla and Kent did not have any reason to take him," said Jack.
"Mikayla is an orphan if he wants to adopt that kid how are you going to handle it?" said Joshua.
"Mikayla is under special protection and his protection is Grade S level. According to the rules, anything with Grade S and above the special law privilege that the Maroon family have is cancelled," said Jack.
Joshua grinning after hearing Jack "You are sensible and meticulous in doing everything, you even put that kid on Grade S protection."
"One must always prepare, luckily we can obtain Mikayla without having more conflict with the Maroon family," said Jack.
"Ian, go to the eastern region and bring that boy," said Joshua.
"Besides that, inform Kyle and let him go with you to fetch Mikayla. He and Mikayla are friend," said Jack.
"Kyle is getting along with that boy? Since when his acting is that good? said Joshua.
"Kyle is always professional when doing his job," said Jack.
In the castle. Mikayla is busying himself to feed the milk to the twin. The baby girl Stella and the baby boy Luna is very lively right now. They seem to notice that many people are available and try to get their attention. They did not go to sleep and their beautiful round eyes are melting all those old people in the castle especially Aunt Claire.
"How month is the twin already" ask Grandma Gwen.
"It will be three months if I not mistaken," said Aunt Claire.
"Yes it is three months," said Mikayla. There is a dark circle under his eyes. The twin sure loves to stay up at night. He starts to think of a new name because when the moon is pop up in the sky Luna will be active and when there are myriad of stars Stella will join her brother but he can't do that because the name is specially chosen by Grandpa Damien that is the owner of the castle. He is so happy with the children and named them. He and Granma Gwen is so fond of them and treat them like their own grandchild.
The twin did not like others to feed them accept for Mikayla. So, that is why the young father Mikayla is unable to get enough sleep in these three months. He is grateful to receive many advise regarding childcare from the oldies in the castle. He found out the younger generation of the Maroon family all grown up but very few decided to build a family. So, the twin present is like a ray of sunshine in their heart. They always come and play with the twins and this help Mikayla to catch some sleep.
"Hello Mr Damien Maroon, it is nice to see you," said Kyle.
"What is your business coming to this small place of mine," said Damien.
"The reason for my visit is to search for someone," said Kyle.
"Who is this person?" said Damien.
"There is a boy named Mikayla in your castle and we want that boy," said Damien.
Damien with a poker face said, "There is a boy named Mikayla staying here but I'm not sure he is the same person you want."
"We are sure that the boy is the same person we want. We will not make any mistake on this," said Kyle.
"It's Kent that brought him here. If you want that boy ask it from Kent," said Damien as he shrugged his shoulder.
"You know what it is Kent thought of us The Knight. We can excuse him for meddling when we deal with criminals and involve a child in this," said Kyle.
"Are you threatening me?" said Damien as his blue eyes stares straight into Kyle brown eyes.
"I'm not threatening, it's just that the boy is under Grade S protection. If Kent adamant to keep the boy then he will be charged kidnapping and becoming a Grade S criminal. I'm sure your privilege did not cover that," there is mocking smile from Kyle as he stares back to Damien.
"YOU DARE!" said Damien as he bangs his hand on the table. His butler Joey glare at Kyle.
"I just stated the truth. Hahaha," said Kyle.
"Indeed the truth. Come here to my place and threatening my family. The Knight is getting worse I see," said Kent as he enters the room.
"Kent Maroon, finally showing yourself," said Kyle.
"I'm not a coward like that murderer Joshua. Where is he?" said Kent.
"If Joshua comes here there is only bloodbath and we did not want that. All I want is Mikayla. Return him to us," said Kyle.
Kent sits on a couch and asks Joey for a cup of tea. He takes his sweet time savouring the expensive Da-Hong Pao Tea. "Mikayla stays here. He is staying with me. I will never let anyone becomes that monster victim again."
"She is not a monster," said Kyle nonchalantly. "I'm sorry for what happen to Katherine."
"You can declare me as a Grade S criminal but when you do that prepare for your secret to be out," said Kent.
"Nobody will trust you," said Kyle.
"We'll see about that. Did you think I just sleep for all these years? Many would not believe me but it will certainly create a spark." said Kent.
"What did you want? ask Kyle. He did not look as relaxed as before. He sits with his body straight and ready for any confrontation.
