Chapter 19: The Pride of India : Ajabde Raichand...
Everyone in the dinning area was intently listening as Aahil uncovered his past. Hence, no one noticed that ever since Aahil mentioned the name Meghnath Bose from his past, Kady's face expression changed drastically.
The further she heard Aahil's past, the whiter she turned in fear....
'What has this man done ??? '
She was horrified to hear the man's monstrosity.
' Could be that they are two different people with the same name?? '
' But what if not?? '
As these thoughts ran through Kady's mind her facial expressions turned for the worse .
Through out the whole story Kady didn't utter a single word. Her mind was facing an inner battle. She was conflicted.
Her heart was sure that the Meghnath Bose from Aahil's past and the person she knew were the same, but her mind was not ready to accept it.
She was afraid of the consequences. Being aware of Aahil's personality , temperament and now his past it was only a matter of minutes before Aahil would order his resources to investigate the man....
Then what??
'What if the results prove that they both are the same person then what???
How would she prove that they were totally unrelated to that man ??? '
Faces of her family appeared before her eyes as fear grasped her heart and mind.
After all it was not a business battle but a crime of the highest degree.
She feared the safety of her family , her father's reputation , her marriage and her daughter.
Kady was well versed with Aahil's ruthless methods when it came to business. Depending on that, the level of ruthlessness that he would exercise in order to avenge his parents death, she could not even dare to imagine..
And this time it was not only Aahil but even Vikram too joined forces to avenge the death of Madam Oberoi. She was the only one whom Vikram treated as a motherly figure...
Kady was at loss.. She had no idea how she would be able to make the two most dangerous men in the world believe her family's innocence and beg mercy on behalf of them.
Both Aahil and Vikram were harmless guinea pigs to their loved ones but known to be manic devils for the rest of the world...
Kady was at the verge of tears as she was helpless to save her family from Aahil and Vikram's wrath . She felt pit drop in her stomach. Her mind stopped working . She could only think of pleading them for mercy.
Back at the dining table.....
Dr. Ruchika was the first to notice the change in Kady and was deeply alarmed. Being a psychiatrist and given the situation , she could roughly guess that Aahil's past had some connection with Kady.
" Kady!! What's wrong??? Are you not feeling well??? "
She interrupted Kady's train of thoughts.
The sudden question thrown at her by Dr. Ruchika, followed by everyone's attention startled Kady.
In her panic she bolted up from her chair throwing it aside with a loud screech. She ran out of the dining area and was heading for the downstairs lobby.
This alarmed everyone ...
Vikram was already after Kady trying to stop her with full speed followed by Aahil and the rest.
"Kady wait... Where are you going??? " Vikram called her as he tried to catch up.
By then Kady was already on the stairscase running.
Vikram caught up with Kady in the nick of time.
Kady was running down the stairs in a state of panic and missed a step . The results would have been a nasty fall with serious injuries , but Vikram was able to catch her by her arm and pull her towards himself before she fell.
But that didn't prevent the accident from happening though.
But in order for Vikram to be able to do so his own footing on the stairscase was pretty dangerous and the force with which he pulled Kady towards himself made Kady stumble on him.
Thus loosing his own footing Vikram fell off on the stairs and rolled down two fleets along with Kady.
Vikram was able to feel that they were both going to fall when Kady stumbled on him . Purely out of his instinct he pulled her towards himself , embraced her with his whole body, thus protecting her from any injury. But it came at a price .
Since Vikram used his own body to protect Kady , he was open for injury .
As they both were rolling down the stairs Vikram hit his forehead on the edge of the first banister and again on the second before they finally reached the ground floor.
The impact of the fall ended with Vikram laying on the floor , blood oozing out of his forehead with Kady on top of him.
" Kady ....
Kady.... Are you okay.... You are not hurt , are you??? "
That was the first thing Vikram said immediately after the impact of the fall ended.
He slowly helped Kady and himself sit up while checking on her for injuries.
Kady was still in shock from the impact of the fall and was feeling bottomless guilt at the same time. Vikram's caring words further burdened her heart .
Clearly the man in front of her was the one in pain yet he was asking her if she was hurt. She could not take it any further.
Everything happened within a matter of seconds. By the time Aahil and the others reached down the ground floor all was over.
They saw Vikram and Kady sitting on the floor with a bleeding wound on the former.
" Kady what's wrong???
Please tell me what happened ??
Kady.. Are you hurt... Where are you hurt???
Tell me... Please say something... "
Vikram couldn't understand the reason behind Kady's sudden reaction and was getting sickly worried about her.
Aahil and Yuma rushed to help them .
Yuma supported Vikram while Aahil checked up on Kady .
" Kady ... are you crazy???
what the hell happened that you had to run down the stairscase like that.??? "
Even though his tone was harsh but Kady could feel Aahil's concern.
At that moment Kady's expression was that of total self dejection and loss.
No one was able to understand why...
" Have mercy.... please... I beg you...
My family is innocent...
We have nothing to do with that man... "
Seeing the concern of both Aahil and Vikram, Kady finally broke down.
"Aahil, Yuma quick, take them both to their room... I've send Brother Ashwin to get the first aid... Dr. Shah will have a look. "
Father was only concerned with the emergency at hand, hence did not allow anyone to waste time on words.
.....
Back in the guest room.....
After Dr. Shah gave a through check if was found that Kady had sustained no injury at all and Vikram only suffered the injury on his forehead.
The wound was deep but there was no threat. Dr. Shah dressed the wound and prescripted some pain killers.
Kady felt relief wash over her as Dr. Shah gave his opinion on Vikram's injury but that didn't last long.
" Kady... What exactly is your connection with Meghnath Bose??? "
Given the reaction that Kady delivered at the breakfast table followed by the accident Dr. Ruchika felt no need to beat around the bush .
The question took everyone off guard....
" Kady !!! Related to Meghnath Bose ???
What kind of a joke is that Dr. Ruchika??? "
Vikram was the first react and defend Kady.
" If you don't believe me then you are more than free to ask her. " she snorted back.
Everyone turned their attention to Kady...
Vikram's reaction shook Kady off her core . She didn't know what to say or think anymore. Tears just rolled down her cheeks but no words came from her.
She looked up at Father with pleading eyes for help.
Ring!! Ring!! Ring!!
The phone ring was like a boon for Kady.
" I see... Okay I'll be there. "
It was a call on Father Fernandez's phone informing him that his guest has arrived and is waiting in his office .
For some reason though Father's face lit up like a Christmas tree after he received the news.
Father understood Kady's plea in one look.. Being their mentor for two decades Father had learned that the trio had many secrets that he wasn't aware about , but he respected their privacy because he was well aware that whenever they will feel the need for guidance they will approach him on their own.
This was one such secret that Kady at the moment was not ready to share with everyone.
" Doctors, Yuma why don't we come to my office for a while and let these friends sought out amongst themselves. Besides I have something very interesting to show you. "
The timely arrival of the guest was exactly what Father needed at the moment to distract everyone's attention from Kady.
Also his change of facial expressions was something that didn't go unnoticed.
So naturally, everyone was curious to know what was so interesting at the moment when they just learned Aahil past .
Aahil understood that Father was trying to give them some privacy so he didn't object on being left out but was curious and ' What's got this old man dancing in the clouds ' he wondered.
As for the doctors and Yuma , Brother Ashwin had to drag them out of the room.
" Curses ...Do you lot not understand sign language?? "
He said once all the people were outside the room.
" What is so interesting in your office at the moment Father Fernandez ??? "
Dr. Ruchika really couldn't decipher the meaning of Father's words nor actions as they headed for his office.
Back in the room....
Aahil sat on the opposite sofa while Vikram sat next to Kady.
" Kady why were you asking to have mercy on your family... And why did you say that you and your family are unrelated to Meghnath Bose??? "Vikram asked with a worried look.
Kady didn't answer him but look straight at Aahil.
"Aahil do know what Meghnath Bose from your past looked like... Will you be able to recognize him now??? "
Kady was determined to come clean. She knew that it was futile to hide anything from them, so she might as well just tell them. Maybe ... pjust maybe they would listen to her.
" Yes , of course ...but why do you ask?? "
Again Kady didn't answer but took her phone and searched gallery... After finding what she was looking for she showed her phone to Aahil.
"Is the man in the middle of the photo the same person from your past?? "she asked.
Aahil was momentarily stunned to see a photo of his parents murderer in his best friend's phone.
But it was only momentarily.
He quickly regained his composure and returned the phone back to Kady.
Kady didn't need an answer from Aahil. The shock on his face which was for a split second spoke more then a thousand words. Her heart was right.
....
Dr. Ruchika, Yuma, Father and Brother bid Dr. Shah goodbye as he had to leave for the hospital.
After sending him everyone gathered outside Father's office with Brother getting angrier by the second.
" Father, I beg you not to interfere... This is strictly between me and her and I will deal with it personally "
Brother said as if the person inside the office has committed some serious crime.
" Very well then... but don't come to me if you can't handle it... "
Father said.
Father's behavior was giving both Dr. Ruchika and Yuma the creeps...
"Father.. who exactly is inside your office?? " Yuma asked in all seriousness but Father only gave him an expression of a naughty child whose up-to no good.
Brother Ashwin opened the door of the office to find their so called guest standing in front of the trophy rack.
" Don't you think you went a little too overboard , Young lady ."
Brother said not holding back his irritation.
Father kept the door of his office ajar but prevented Yuma and Dr. Ruchika from entering the office along with himself. They were only able to hear the conversation from outside. Yuma was becoming impatient with Father's games but could do nothing other than enduring it .
" But Brother I only raised my opinion "
"Raise your opinion or pulled down the pants of the entire mathematical society?"
" Brother they were wrong and I being a responsible member of the society simply pointed that out... if they can't except it then it's their fault not mine.
And besides wasn't it you who taught me never to accept any wrong doings, then how can I accept a wrong doing that to at such a stage and say nothing ."
Hearing the conversation from outside Father was helplessly smiling, but Yuma and Dr. Ruchika were more stunned to her the persons reasoning. With Brother Ashwin starting the conversation and accusing the guest, the voice that replied to him was that of a girl. A young teenage girl.
" Say nothing !!! My dear you practically slander two of the big shots of the entire academic society... Do you realize that??? "
Brother continued the conversation.
At this point Father signaled everyone to enter the office with him entering first.
" I don't think so Brother... After all I didn't offend Aahil Oberoi now did I?? And I believe that if Mr. Oberoi attended the conference then there would not have been a reason for me to point out the mistakes. He would have actually slandered them all. "The girl replied with confidence and admiration for Aahil.
" Aahil Oberoi.. Pulling out the big guns "
Father prompted while trying to sniffle his laughter.
Hearing the girl's reply and Father's prompt, Brother Ashwin literally gave up .
The fact of the matter was that no matter how much he scolded his student on the grounds off seniority , he knew in his heart that what she did was the right thing to do.
When Dr. Ruchika and Yuma entered Father's office they saw Brother Ashwin's back which was covering their view of the guest. Father gestured them to take their seats on the sofa.
" I think that's enough scolding for one day Brother Ashwin... She is still young ... Let her do some mistakes.. After all it is the only thing which reminds us of her innocence "
Father said with an immeasurable fondness in his eyes for the girl.
" Brother... Please don't be mad... If you think that what I have done is wrong then I'll apologize.. I promise "she said with a sad tone.
Brother couldn't help but roll his eyes.
' What's the point of apologizing now? 'he thought.
Brother decided to seal his lips then to dig his grave and took a seat on the sofa.
Only then was Dr. Ruchika and Yuma able to get a view of the girl.
What their eyes met was truly a God's personal creation.
Before Father entered his office his said in a low voice to Yuma " Prepare yourself to meet your would-be-mistress. "
The girl in front of them was like a mythical beauty sent from the heavens above. They have never seen a beauty like her ever. Yuma had seen many women in his life... His former master was a womanizer and women would practically throw themselves in case of Aahil. They came from many different backgrounds and social status but everything faded in comparison to the beauty in front of them
Her creamy white skin was completely flawless.
Her prefect pink glossy lips stood out on her face because of her complexion.
Her long dark hair was so smooth and silky, almost felt as if they were make from the highest quality of silk fabric.
Her clear dark mesmerising eyes were like an endless abyss of mysteries.
Her small frame and slender body with prefect curves were like hand sculpted just for her.
Her soft voice was like a song of a nightingale.
She was alluring , seductive yet youthful, pure and timeless.
She was an eternal beauty worthy to die for.
Yuma and Dr.Ruchika were both beyond mesmerised just by the girl's appearance.
She felt a little uncomfortable under the glaze and nervously seeked Father's help.
" Ahem..." Father cleared his throat reassuring her that everything was fine..
" I believe introductions are in order. "
Gesturing towards Yuma and Dr Ruchika , he introduced them to her. After exchange of short pleasantries it was her turn to be introduced to them.
"Brother Ashwin , I believe it is only fitting that you do the honour of introducing her, after all you were the one who nurtured and mentored her . " Father said with an unusual gentleness that neither Dr. Ruchika nor Yuma had seen in the past two decades.
" If you wish so Father..
Yuma, Dr. Ruchika , I would like to introduce you to my student.
This is Ajabde Raichand , the pride of India. " Brother Ashwin introduced her with pride of being her teacher as well as her mentor .
" Our Ajabde truly lives up-to her title of India's pride. She has a post doctorate degree for all five subjects of Mathematics, Physics , Economics, English and Comparative Literature.

Father too held great pride as he listed her achivements.
