Chapter 13: The Barbarian Land

"No!" Bell looked at James impassively as she fluttered her wings to take flight.

"But why! What could possible go wrong?" James moved to block Bell as she tried to fly away.

"What do you think will happen if you make what your planing to make huh? What your asking will make the already increasing strength of monsters rise at an even quicker pace. Our races aren't ready for such a thing!" So that's what it was, she was worried about her children.

"Look if your worried about that we can put in limits that keeps them from getting to strong, or you can develop a system that makes them grow but at a slow pace?" Bell slowed down a bit before flying over James, a thoughtful look on her face.

"It was worth a shot, but that group of people are almost at their destination!" With a sigh James focused once again on the group of people.

*Aldwin's Pov*

Finally after our...eventful, journey through the forest we reached the mountain pass that connect the Gold Kingdom to the Barbarian Lands.

"Alright everyone, where still not out of harms way, we still need to make it through the Misty Slopes." The faces of the three visible paled, everyone knew of the unforgiving Misty Slopes. The born chilling cold around the tops of the mountains and the powerful monsters all around the mountains.

"Are you sure we want to do this? We can always just hide a small village somewhere?" Shila was looking around with a hopeful expression.

"You know that's not possible, the royal family is beloved by all, it would be hard to escape their eyes." Red looked annoyed as he kicked a rock to relieve some of his anger.

"If we all made our mind then let's get on with it, if we don't reach a safe place by nightfall then we're good as dead." The sun was already starting to go down and nightfall would arrive soon.

. . .

Days passed and each day the group was able to move through the mountain pass unhindered. Small skirmishes occurred when some monsters attack the group but we made swift work of them.

By the end of the day we finally got the first sight of the Barbarian Lands. As far was the eye could see a sea of white sand covered the land, strong winds moved the sand around in chaotic patterns forming mounds of sand. Bodies of long dead creatures little the land and far into the distance a massive blob moved towards their direction.

"So this is the Barbarian Lands, look exactly as I pictured it." Red was the first to speak after we just took in our fates.

"No, you know as well as I do that there's an oasis where most of the clans live, we just got to make it their." Time was of the essence and whatever that blob was wouldn't be good, we needed to move or we'll end up like those bones scattered around the place.

"Okay okay, let's stop complaining and get a move on, we don't got all day." For the next couple of days our group moved through the desert, along the way we encountered monstered that lived under the sand, they would ambush us and we'd just be able to escape without much harm.

As each day passed the blob in the distance got larger, whatever it was it definitely wasn't a good thing, I could feel it. Our journey was a long one, but because of Shila and her magic we were able to keep on going.

"Anyone know how much longer this is gonna take? I don't think we'll survive if that thing reaches us?" Red pointed to the big blob in the distance.

"The map gave us the general direction and Shila's magic is keeping us on the right path, but it'll still take a while, probably another week or so." This wasn't looking so good for us.

"What are we gonna do, i'm starting to run low on mana and if I can't resupply then we're gonna get lost."

"We just got to do our best, if we wait till nightfall and start at sunrise we should be able to cut our journey down to a week at best." With a sigh I moved towards the front of the group.

"Shila focus of recovering your magic for a bit, we're gonna need it if the thing reaches us before we reach the oasis.

. . .

*yawn*

After watching the group for a bit I couldn't help but get bored, I knew that once they reached their destination, the ruined keep, everything will get a bit more interesting.

"Tomorrow is the day, tomorrow is when the main server opens as well as when my world will be opened to others, what will I do then?" The website went a bit into what would happen when the main server opens, other people will be able to invite other people to see their worlds or even join hands and work of the same world.

The was no limit that was shown, everyone had complete control over their world, people could go to war, forge alliance, etc. but what would I do when the server opens? All that matters to me is my world, even though I know it's a game but I just can't help but get attached.

"I guess we'll find out by the end of the day tomorrow, while I'm offline I'll set the world to speed up a bit, maybe have Bell look after both worlds while i'm asleep, that way when I come back things will have progressed a bit more." Pulling up the system James disappeared from when he was standing shortly after.

"When will you realize James, this isn't a game, this is a world of its own..." Bell appeared out of nowhere and stared at the spot James previously stood at.

"Maybe then you'll realize that your actions truly effects the people in your world..." As quickly as she appeared she disappeared back into her [Domain].
