Chapter 40: Hiro's Hero Triumphs PT.2: Triumphs of Old: Unbreakable Blockade

**9th Generation Hero, 1400 years ago**

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The wind swept through my hair as I sat upon a hill, just out the range of the TRTF's new home base. In the far distance was the sea, glistening a deep blue from the sun overhead.

"Waiting here just sucks," I murmured, readjusting my spear, which was leaning on my shoulder. It was a heavy spear, made completely of a shining black metal, adorned with a green gem in the center. The tip was bigger than the rest of the spear and was hard for normal people to use.

"Hey, there you are!" I turned towards the voice to see a small child running towards me.

Ugh, it's this kid again. "Whadda'ya want kid?"

He stopped in front of me and gave me an innocent grin. "To see you of course! Whoa, is that your spear!?" He reached out and tried to touch it, but I skillfully switched which side my spear rested.

"Weapons aren't meant for youngin's such as yourself. Hands off."

He pouted, but his mind wandered to my armor. "Why do you wear so much armor?"

I scowled. My armor, which was also made entirely of the same metal as my spear, covered me from the neck down. My helmet, which I had taken off, was sitting next to me.

"Because it's my style kid, that's why. Now beat it, I have better things to do than mess around."

"But you're not doing anything?" He asked innocently. Damn kid.

"You're right, I'm on break. Sheesh, can't even get a moment to my da-self," I said, stopping myself from cursing in front of the kid.

He ignored me and sat on my lap, humming happily to himself. I decided to let the kid be.

At least he's enjoying himself, I thought as he rocked back in forth in my lap.

"Hey, isn't this armor uncomfortable?"

He shook his head vigorously. "Nope, it's rather comforting Mr. Hero!"

"I'm not a Hero just yet kid," I muttered, and I suddenly felt an odd feeling overwhelm me.

"Hey mister, what happened to the clouds?"

I glanced up to see a red sky illuminated by a black sun. Shit, a time loop!? But why now!?

I picked the kid off my lap and shot to my feet before setting the kid down gently. "Kid, get on outta here, okay?"

I sharpened my eyes towards the sea, and in the distance, I could see ships, along with what looked like…

"Hey, what's going on?" The kid tapped my armor, and I glanced down at him, nervous.

Our organization had just recently moved locations, and by doing so, taken in all of the kids who had lost their parents and homes in the last fight, the kid next to me included.

"I already told you, didn't I? Get on out of here!" He had a scared look on his face, but he followed my orders and ran down the hill back towards the gate to our organization.

"Now then, let's get this party started," I said to myself, cracking my knuckles. I was about to put on my helmet when I felt another tap on my armor.

It was the kid, and he looked even more scared. "Mr. Hero, I tried to go, but when I got to the gate, I ended up back here!"

You've gotta be shitting me. The loop only goes up to the gate? I looked back at the oncoming waves of enemies before looking back at the kid.

Damn it.

I picked up the kid and ran back towards the gate, where I tossed the kid behind me.

"Ow, that hurt!"

"Kid, if you don't wanna die, then whatever you do, stay behind me at all costs." It might be a while before the TRTF realizes something's wrong.

I looked back down at the kid, who was cowering in fear. "One more thing. I advise you keep your eyes shut, no matter what happens, okay?" He nodded, and I turned back towards the hill.

If what I saw was true, then this'll be one hell of a battle.

I slammed my spear into the ground, causing it to stay upright. I then waited, holding my helmet underneath my arm.

Soon, the enemy was atop the hill. And boy, was it a lot more than I was expecting.

Well, looks like I can chalk this up to a Triumph, right? I grinned before putting on my helmet.

I pulled up my spear from out of the ground and aimed it straight at the enemy.

I really have to thank the first TTH for this.

"Spear Throw."

I threw my spear, and with it about a thousand more followed, raining down from the heavens. The attack tore through their bodies, and as they fell, the enemies behind them fell over, tripping themselves into their fallen comrades own weapons.

In other words, a massacre.

"Return."

The spear returned to my hands, and I waved it to the side, the blood scattering in a crescent shape.

I watched as the enemies eventually stopped atop the hill, staring down at me.

Boom.

A slight rumbling of the ground caught my attention, and I could hear cheers coming from the enemy.

Boom!

Another rumble, this time way louder. I watched as the enemies retreated back down the hill, and I could hears roars in the distance.

BOOM!

The next one shook the very air itself, and I watched as monsters from the depths of the sea made their way to the top of the mountain.

I chuckled. This is way more than I bargained for. They had me completely outnumbered and were all very clearly strong. But…

I glanced back down at the kid, who had turned towards the gate, covering his eyes as his eyes were presumably shut.

"Alright then, time for my true strength to come into play."

I whipped my spear back behind me, and I watched as the monsters came pouring down the hill by the thousands. Most had some form of tentacles, others had multiple eyes, all of them had sharp teeth, and none of them looked the least bit human.

I waited as I gathered more strength, white light starting to coalesce around my spear.

Fifty yards away.

I could see their scales and could smell their awful stench.

25 yards.

Wait for it.

15 yards.

My spear was now covered completely in the white light, changing the metal from black to white.

And at 10 yards away, I made my move.

"KNIGHTS CRESCENT SLASH!!"

Using all the strength I had, I made a crescent slash with my spear, sending a crescent shaped slash of light at the monsters.

Once it came into contact with them, it caused them to explode, staining the field with their foul monster blood. But I wasn't done yet.

"GENERALS FULL MOON!"

The slash extended upwards towards the sky, using the white light as a barrier to attack the enemies. It tore through the monsters, and once it reached the hill, it flattened it out, causing a massive landslide.

I could hear the screams and cries of the enemies, and I watched as it finally reached the sea, where it dissipated into nothing.

I fell to my knees, the only thing keeping me up the spear I was grasping in my left hand.

"Did that do it?"

As the light finally went away, I only saw my worst fear.

So many ships, too many, were continually making their way to the shore. Both people and monsters alike even now were charging towards me.

I let out a laugh. "Just great." I got back up to my feet, taking off my helmet.

"Hey kid, take it." I tossed the helmet towards the kid, who was still trembling.

He glanced at the helmet before dragging it to his side, clutching it tightly in his small hands.

"Focus on how cool I'll be protecting you."

I turned back towards the battlefield, twirling my spear around.

"We'll make it kid, if it's the last thing I do."

I slammed the butt of the spear into the ground, and I said my favorite phrase.

"After all, the best offense you can have is a defense."

My black spear unraveled outwards, turning into a jet-black shield, the green gem now at the center of the shield.

"And my defense is the greatest!"

I glared at the enemies approaching, and I waited until they were close before yelling out my true ability.

"COMMANDER'S STALWART DEFENSE!"

A black wall of energy that looked like colored glass rose up from the ground, extending from my shield all the way to the edge of the time loop, and went as high as the clouds above.

The enemies ran right into it and were completely stopped. They attacked vigorously at it but couldn't even make a scratch on the barrier I had constructed.

Soon, grenades starting to get thrown, and one managed to cause a slight crack in the barrier. I gritted my teeth, holding out for the long haul as a piece of my armor cracked

I could hear a chorus of cheers from both monsters and humans alike, and I saw through the barrier them bringing massive cannons. One person waved their hand, and they all shot bright balls of energy simultaneously at the barrier, causing more small cracks to appear on the barrier.

Monsters started to hurl giant rocks at the barrier, while one managed to bring down a tidal wave down onto the barrier, to only once more cause more small cracks in my barrier.

I withheld a quiet yell, as they started to throw more and more absurd things at the barrier I had constructed.

Lightning got hurled from the heavens, earthquakes attempted to shatter my foundation, and everything that could be possibly thrown or shot at me, be it missiles from their ships, elements they summoned from their own power, and even the occasional monster flung at my barrier in a suicide bombing, they did it all.

And there I stood, keeping up my barrier while not budging an inch.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the TRTF finally managed to get into the time loop, they quickly mobilized their overwhelming firepower and skills, along with the 12 hands of the organization, to wipe out the invading enemies.

To the TRTF's surprise however, they saw an exhausted army with almost no will to fight, and it was then that they noticed.

"Took… you long… enough," I croaked out.

Standing tall and firm, with my barrier looking as if it was close to shattering, I glanced behind me to see their mouths gaping open.

"Hero, how long have you been here?" one of the soldiers asked in shock.

There was a sudden boom, as another barrage of missiles hit the barrier. I winced and slowly turned my head around.

"Seven… days…"

I looked down at the kid, who was staring at the soldiers around him, still clutching my helmet tightly.

"Good… the kid's alright." The kid watched as the soldiers passed through my barrier to take care of the rest, before resting his eyes on me.

"Mr. Hero, what happened to you!?"

In what is now known as the Battle of the Ultimate Defense, Anicetus stood his ground, protecting a lone child for seven days and seven nights. For those seven days and seven nights he had stood there, his armor had been completely annihilated, and his body was covered in life threatening wounds, and he was barely conscious by the eighth day. And yet, no matter how close his barrier was to shattering, he held it together, putting his own life on the line.

He is now known as Anicetus the Stalwart Defender, or otherwise known as the Unconquerable Hero.

Second part of the change in the story.

You know, I realized I screwed up in a previous chapter, so later on today I'll change The Tribulation of Intelligence Chapter, since I really lost track of the days in the story. Basically, Luna's new moon form was meant to be shown already, so I have to add it.

Also, I decided to name the 12 strongest in the TRTF the 12 Hands. I might change it again, but for now I like the name.
