Chapter 44: Day 43

"You got promoted at your work so you take your family out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate," read Kyle aloud from a card with 43 on the front. "God, it took me that long just to get a promotion, Renata?"

I clasp my hands together and shrug. "Well, you were busy being a devoted father and husband."

"Don't forget boyfriend," Kyle added.

"What?"

Kyle sighed as he asked, "Have you forgotten you're my mistress already? I couldn't have been that bad a fuck."

"We never did!" I exclaimed.

"That last bit was a joke," said Kyle with a loud laugh.

"It wasn't funny," I grumbled as my cheeks reddened. Kyle raised his brow and cocked his head to the side.

"I can see I've asked the wrong question."

"Oh? And what do you think the right one is?" I asked him back.

"Have you ever fucked anyone?" he asked me with sincerity.

"Wh-why does that matter?" I replied.

Kyle chuckled as he said, "I'll take that as a no."

"You're being rude, Kyle." Kyle just looked at me for a second before shrugging.

"Renata, I want to make sure I woo you properly so I'll need all of the facts. Besides, I consider you a challenge." I slouch in the chair I'm sitting in.

"A challenge? Am I a difficult person or something?"

"No, not at all." Kyle touched my nose with his index finger, causing me to wack his hand. "I've never wooed a virgin before."
