Chapter 23: The Truth About His Support
As Yang continued telling Yifeng all about his feelings for Shi he failed to see the pleased look on Yifeng's face but Yifeng soon masked it with indifference when he noticed that Yang was finishing.
Yang looked at Yifeng and asked ''Now that you know that my feelings for Shi are genuine, what are you going to do?''
"Let me tell you something Mr Yang, I have always treated Shi as my little sister and it pains my heart to see her suffer, I want to help her but she is afraid of her past. That is why I wanted her to marry someone who could teach her to love herself as much as she loves those whom she holds dear. Yesterday at the engagement party when I entered, I already noticed the way you looked at her. Truth be told at first I wanted to gouge your eyes out for looking at her that way but when I saw that there was some amount of love in them too, that is when I decided that maybe if you were the one to marry her then she may be able to forget her past.''
''I am sorry but I am not following you.''
''What I want to say is that I was the one who lied to Shi in order to get her to marry you.''
''But why me?''
"I guess that is the most important question right? After I saw the way you looked at Shi I got my best information team to gather information on you and when they reported to me that you had a very clean background I was satisfied with you but when the next day you along with your friend and the old geezer from the Zhao family and held talks about marriage, I finally believed that you must have a good character if the old man wanted to get his granddaughter married to you and that is when I decided to support the marriage. And you are also the first person who did not have any thoughts to start a relationship with her to gather advantages from the Li and Zhao family. I am not blind, I can see that your feelings are sincere towards her.''
''But why are you doing all of this?''
"Why? Because I care a great deal for Shi and I want to see her move on from her nightmares. I know that she is lacking love from a partner. Shi has suffered very much and the stronger she appears on the outside the more broken she is on the inside and I hope to correct that. I wish that if she founds love she can finally forget her past and learn to love herself as much as I love her and I hope that you will also love her that much if not greater.''
"I never knew that she was like that.''
"Of course you would not have noticed, she is great at masking her own feelings and putting on a fake mask, something I wish she does not do longer. Now that all of this is done I think I need to warn and threaten you right?''
"What?''
"Of course I need to tell you some basic things like firstly make sure that you never make her cry and then also never force her to do something that she does not wish to do and then always respect her wishes. I will also send over a worker from our family to your place and I am warning you, if I ever get a report that you did something you should not have done. I Li Yifeng promise to make you repent it as long as you live.''
"Sure, I promise to always treat Shi nicely and to always respect her as a person. I will not give you any chance to feel bad for choosing to help me with your sister.''
"Then I shall leave first, I need to deal with a very pissed man back at home. Also before I leave, I know about the problems in your family and I just hope that you will be able to protect my sister from it, but if there is ever any problem you may feel free to contact me. Goodbye.''
With these words Yifeng left Yang alone in the room. Yang sat there for a while pondering over the discussion he just had with Yifeng when he suddenly received a message from his wife to be reminding him about their appointment. As Yang looked at the simple message he felt his heart get heavy as he remembered what Yifeng told him about Shi living in her past,
"Do not worry Shi for I will teach you not to only love yourself but to also love me as much as I love you.''
With these words Yang also left the room while thinking about his soon to be wife.
