Chapter 7: The Charm of a Baby
After the door was pushed, what first greeted Clyde was a wide expanse of space. The room has an area of 50 meters, in which the room was just exactly like a square.
Entering the room, Clyde saw rows of bookcases filled with books, probably all about Pokémons. He was dumbstrucked. Clyde was amazed with the view that filled his sight. "Is this a haven?" Clyde thought to himself.
Going to one of the bookcases, Clyde took out a book named "Legends and Myths of the Universe Creation". It looked old however it was obvious that it was well taken cared of. Flipping the book to reveal its content, Clyde then started to read the passage. "Billions of years ago, the universe was a blank slate, however, even then, a creature is already in existence; the Legendary Pokémon, "Arceus". "Oh, it's the said God of all Pokémon, Arceus. I didn't think that the theories on him were all true." He thought.
For a few hours, Grandpa Michael was just watching Clyde enjoy the books in the library. As for Clyde, he was actually planning about the books that he would read according to their topics. He has already arranged his schedule in order since he was already finished reading all of his parents, sister and his grandpa's books.
After passing by the rows of bookcases, Clyde walked deeper into the room. A moment later, when the bookcases went out of his sight, Clyde saw tables and computers that were orderly arranged. Different laboratory materials were cluttered on the table and papers were seen haphazardly piled together. The computers have strings of data and figures present on its screens.
Further in the laboratory, he also saw two distinct machines that stood out. One is a computer that is connected to a vent. The vent was facing downwards, which has a table underneath. The table has a dent that looks like it could fit a pokeball perfectly on it. On the other hand, the other machine looked like it was a big capsule with a door on it, and it was connected to a similar looking capsule as well.
In one of the machines, the one looking like a capsule, Clyde spotted his big brother Bill. He was wearing a white laboratory coat and was fixing something in the machine. Seeing his brother who seemed busy, Clyde called out his brother's name. "Bro! Hey big Bill!"
Hearing his name being called by a very familiar voice, Bill turned his head towards the voice's direction. He then smiled when he saw his baby brother who was smart and independent at such young age. Well, he hoped that he was similar with other babies, who was normal and gullible, but he was still proud that his baby brother is very unique. Clyde ran towards his big brother and jumped for a hug. Bill crouched so that Clyde could reach him, welcoming his baby brother in his arms and hugged him back. He lifted Clyde off the ground and Clyde was now sitting on his arms.
Realizing it was impossible to find this place by Clyde alone, Bill asked his brother "Hey Clyde, how did you go in here?"
Hearing his brother's question, Clyde immediately answered "Grandpa took me here, he said I would definitely like the place he wanted me to see." He then beamed at his brother with a dazzling smile and said "And... I really like it here! So many books and laboratory stuffs!" Clyde replied to his brother, and you could see the happiness in his bright brown eyes.
Seeing the joy within his brother, Bill smiled back at Clyde. "I'm glad that you liked this place. Actually, this room was made a few years ago. Through the help of mom, dad and a few Pokémons we have made this underground room where my personal library collection and laboratory is located."
Clyde listened attentively to his big brother and wondered mentally after hearing his brother's story about the room. "So, this huge room is all Big Bro's stuff?" Clyde was stunned, his brother looked very successful in his profession, which he remembers that he was a Pokémon researcher.
After Bill spoke, Clyde happily exclaimed "Wow! Is this really all yours?" He asked with a hidden glint in his eyes. "Of course, all of it belongs to your one and only capable brother." Bill arrogantly responded. Seeing his brother was getting into his trap, Clyde then gently asked "Then... would it be possible for me to be here? Since it's all yours and no one would bar me from entering besides you." He asked while blinking his big brown eyes, looking extremely pitiful and cute.
Stunned by the question of his brother, Bill stuttered while answering "Umm... uhh... Wait, let me think about it first." While looking calm at the outside, Bill was actually panicking. Recollecting what his parents said to him before they went out for their research, He remembered their warning and threat to him.

A month ago...
"Bill, before we go to Mt. Moon, we just want to remind you that you must take care of your brother while we are gone." Grace said with her soothing voice.
"Yes Mom! I'll be sure to take care of him, maybe I'll even show him my lab!" Bill excitedly replied. He really seemed to be eager about showing his brother his works and the fruits of his hardships as a Pokémon researcher.
However, instead of the beautiful face of his Mom, what greeted him was a face of an angry mother ready to fight for her son. "What research? Clyde is already unusual for his age, and you already want to introduce him to Pokémon research? What about his childhood, do you want him to be buried in books? No friend to play with because all his time was on the library or in the laboratory?" Grace asked angrily.
Bill was shocked that his mother was mad at his eager response earlier. She was rarely this mad, she only got this mad when she got to know his dangers while travelling around the world before. It was horrible and traumatic; she was so scary that it made him settle down his researches on his Laboratory. Remembering the reason why her mother was angry, Bill has no reason to rebuke what his mother has stated. However, imagining his joy while he and his brother would be spending their time together at the laboratory, Bill braced himself to reply to his mother.
"But mom..." Just after Bill started to speak, a voice cut of what he was supposed to say.
"No buts. We ask you to help your brother to have a normal childhood, since it is obvious that we might not witness his growth long enough. He even asked his mother to stop breastfeeding him already! At the age of 1! Clyde has done so many things to make us proud but he is also worrying us that he might grow so fast before we even notice. All we're asking for is you to take an eye on your brother, if you can't do that while wanting to bring him to your laboratory, I guess we have to ask your grandpa and sister to do the work for you." David sternly replied.
Feeling the seriousness of his parents, Bill got defeated and eventually agreed.

Back to his current thoughts...
Bill remembered what his parents warned him about, however hearing what his baby brother requested of him, Bill sweated bullets. He was unable to continue his reply to his baby brother.
Clyde saw that Bill was hesitating and was nervous. He then spoke to convince his big brother on letting him stay in the laboratory.
"You don't want me here?" Clyde suddenly spoke.
Bill was so surprised however what surprised him was the tear that was forming in his baby brother's eyes.
Bill panicked and hastily replied "Of course not! I really like that you visited me here!"
Seeing that his big brother was hooked again, Clyde then asked pitifully. "Then can I stay here? I really like to visit big brother while working."
Bill was worrying that Clyde might misunderstand his hesitation, but when he suddenly heard his brother's purpose on staying in the laboratory, he got so happy the it clouded his thoughts and made a decision he would definitely regret in the future.
"Sure!" Bill happily said to his brother.
"Really? Thank you big bro, you're the best!" Clyde then went to hug his brother. While he was hugging his brother, Clyde cheekily thought "It's quite easy to charm a person with a baby's looks huh? I should try it more often."
Feeling his brother's warmth, Bill was so happy. But eventually, after a few seconds, he remembered his parents' warning to him. He panicked for a while but feeling the warm embrace that he received, Bill thought "It's worth it, if it's for our baby boy." Or so he thought...

I'm asking for your pardon because I got a lot of projects and entrance exam also came right up so I was stuck with tasks to do and reviews for the exam.
