CHAPTER 3
The next day,I came in our class early. Which is unusual for the students of Grade 12 A.
Hindi ako dumiretso sa building namin. Instead,I proceed at the wide gymnasium. May practice ngayon ang cheering squad,I want to watch.
"Arieza!!!"pansin ko na napatingin sa akin ang ilan sa mga cheering squad members, nang sumigaw ang cheer leader nila.
I silently walk towards their line. I salute on our CAT chief. Catherine Calleja. And yes,I am a CAT officer.
"Why so formal?"taas ang kilay na tanong nya sa akin. I shrugged my shoulders and smiled at her.
"May-practice na kayo... I'll just watch you guys"I smiled at Cath and gave her a nod. "Go ahead!"
She get back on her squad and started the practice. I watch all of their stunts. Tumbling at the air? This cheering squad is... dangerous.
I wonder why the Alphabet High, included this kind of cheering squad? Ah,maybe because of the students that were part of the cheering squad were gymnastics.
I smiled a bit.
Iba talaga kapag hindi ka dini-diktahan. Ever since I am already able to think, they always command me. My parents who should be my number one supporters pushed me to the thing that I never wanted.
They wanted me to be the role model of our family. Formally presented as the heiress of Avery Wine Corporation. But what was I want?
This, this is what I want. To breathe with my own freedom. Be friending with people's randomly. Not picked. It's ridiculous, yeah! But hey,I am just a human. Not an artificial intelligence.
To be a lawyer? Hah! For real? They really want me to be a lawyer at the same time... AWC owner? Tsk! That was,a cruel decision for me. Tsk! Hays! Being a leader is... Hard.
And I don't even wanted to be! Tsk!
"Guys, five minutes break!"I heard Catherine's voice. When I raised my head, papalapit na sya sa akin at hawak nya ang cellphone nya.
"Bakit?"I asked.
"CAT march... We have a practice. Sabi nang adviser natin sa CAT"she told me. Napa-tango ako.
"What time?"
"Same. Nothing new"she answered me.
I nod again and kiss her cheeks. "See you later. I have to attend my morning period."I bid a farewell before I left the gymnasium.
It's already eight, the hallway was already crowded. But I still insisted myself in the crowded corridor.
It signs that the class hours started. And if you're caught roaming around the school at that time. You'll proceed at the guidance office.
Our first instructor for this day,Sir Alistair Aranjuez. Our CAT adviser.
"Miss Avery"agad akong tumayo nang diretso at saka humarap sa kanya. Eye to Eye. I fightback to myself. Fighting back to his dagger eyes. And roaring voice.
"Yes sir?"I asked in a baritone voice. He raised his forefinger and pointed the corridor. "What's with the corridor?"I ask
"Out,now!"napapikit ako. Tsk! Yung totoo?
I don't have any choices but to leave his class and go to our Gazette office.
Napahinga ako nang malalim. I am here again. Sapphire Gazette Publishing House. Inside the Alphabet High. There are lots of club, there are lots of clubs named after gemstones.
Hays!
I walk inside and throw myself at the soft couch. I am tired. Tsk!
I opened my eyes and I saw our EIC with his crossed arms and his legs above his other legs.
I sighed and look at him. He's busy. Busy thinking? No wonder why, paborito sya nang lahat. She's the favorite of the society of Alphabet High.
Tall, moreno, smart, achiever, handsome--"Staring at me while I'm thinking deeply. Wag ka ngang magulo Arieza"napataas ang kilay ko.
I tsked.
Instead of staying with our EIC,I decided to roam round. It's just three minutes before the lunch came. Oh yah! Lunch. It's cutting day.
Napa-buga ako nang hangin.
5:30 PM
Exact time me of our CAT march practice. Pero it was already 6 in the evening. Wala pa rin sila.
I dialed Catherine's phone. To my surprise, she canceled my call. Oh noes! Something happen. She won't ignore my call if nothing happens.
I roam my eyes around. I am at the Alphabet Plaza. It's already dark, stars already appeared, the wind blow slowly. Tinatangay nito ang buhok ko. I forgot to tie it.
It's cold,a bit. I wonder what is the reason, why they are not in time?
I shrugged my thoughts and type a message for Catherine.
Cath! I'll go home, you're not in time. I'm not here to wait until you all show up.
I send the message before I started walking at the busy market of Alphs. This town is quite weird. Alphabet Town. The town that everything was connected with alphabet. Where the society was almost perfect.
Where you can live peacefully. Where no one will give you an order on which you will eat, wear, watch, listen, do, and even where you'll study. This town, even if it's weird, this is where I live for five years. Alone. And I'm proud of it.
My phone ting. And a message popped up. From Catherine.
I'm so sorry,Arieza. I can't go. I already told our adviser. He cancelled the practice. But I didn't told you yet. I'm still busy thinking with my problem on cheering squad. Hays! Hirap maging leader.
My brow arched.
No one told me then.
I type my message for her and send it.
It's okay,Cath. Being a leader is having a great responsibility. That's why I salute to those responsible leaders, who takes their responsibility with their heart and soul. I salute on you.
I started walking again. In the busy street of alpabeto, thinking deep. They have the same state. Leaders, the one who is responsible with everything in their group. It's hard to be a leader. I know the feeling coz I'm a leader back then
